  3. Is Jamestown considered a compound noun? What about Captain John Smith? Thanks in advance for your help!
  4. Dorinda, Do the student workbooks refer to religion? I will have a variety of religions in class, thus the need to stay secular. Thanks, Tracie

  6. Kris, I LOVE the free grammar and writing download! Thank you!
  7. Igniting Your Writing looks great and I will check out the Story Starters. I like the lap book idea and activities/games as well. Thanks for the direction!
  8. I have been asked to teach at a co-op this coming year. This board has been a great help to me over the years and I'd love your input as I plan for these classes. Here are the details.... I will be teaching a 1st/2nd grade and a 3rd/4th grade reading/writing class. The classes will meet for an hour, twice each week. Parents are expecting me to work on reading and writing skills. Homework will be assigned for students to complete with parents. I am still homeschooling my own children (12 and 15), so the program can't require a huge amount of prep time. It must be secular. How difficult would it be to use LLATL or McGruffy in a multi-age co-op situation? I haven't used either and absolutely am open to any suggestions you may have. Thank you! Tracie
  9. Easy Grammar We used Rod and Staff in the past. Enjoying the change this year.
  10. When we travel I work on the basics only - reading, writing and math. Each child is easily able to carry his/her own supplies in a backpack. I make copies from the math book, grading and pitching along the way. Each child brings a journal for notes about the trip and a notebook for writing assignments with me. Each child carries at least one reading book and can pack extras or purchase along the way. You could ship reading books home as they finish or bring paperback that can be left with people you meet along the way. Travel is such a wonderful experience/education I don't like to bog it down. Have a wonderful journey! Tracie
  11. my daughter loved the Penderwicks Dragon Rider sounds good - we appreciate a good narrator.
  12. Thanks to all for the suggestions. We really enjoy audiobooks and it will be fun to research your recommendations. Some you mentioned we have already enjoyed... The Tale of Desperaux, Eragon, and Bud, not Buddy were favorites. Narnia and Redwall were on the list in my head and I forgot - thanks for the reminder! Tracie
