  1. My troop is not a homeschool-specific troop (DD is the only homeschooler). We charge $5 per meeting in dues, which covers snack, badges, craft materials, small field trips. No one is required to sell anything. Parents do not have to register or volunteer for anything. Parents do pay for their child to go on activities (overnights, museums, camping trips, etc) unless they are during a meeting time and within the troop's budget. I'd look for another troop! ETA: We may go up to $6 per meeting in dues this year.
  2. For those ages, it would be the Kiwi Crate (Tinker is for older kids) and it would be a great gift!
  3. If the school doesn't care if she changes or not, I wouldn't interfere.
  4. She should go with the most solid beds she can find. Foster kids can act out, and sometimes furniture is damaged. Good luck to her in her new endeavor!
  5. I'm vegan and have ARFID. I don't think what anyone eats is weird...gross often...but not weird.
  6. My son was very sleepy when he started Concerta last year. He is not sleepy on Adderall and it has been a really good fit for him. Dosage usually does need to go up, but she should give it at least a few days before you decide it's not working.
  7. Um. Please delete this misinformation. Adderall is NOT METH. It is a stimulant medication just like Ritalin and Concerta.
  8. This was my first thought too. Also, grateful that you are still allowing Kay around, and that she has you as an example of good mothering.
  9. Yeah I think you brought that on. Ouch.
  10. Vitamin D Vitamin B-12 Ovega (vegan omega supplement)
  11. 3 of 5 people in my home are vegan. 1 of the vegans (me) and 1 of my omnivore sons have ARFID. No matter what I answer to the question "what's for dinner?" at least one (and probably 2) people will tell me they're not eating it. I hate dinner. And lunch. And breakfast.
  12. I'm not sure why doctor, dentist, and vision exam fees would be included here. All kids need those things, whether they are in public or private school or are homeschooled. Any responsible parent is doing those things anyway.
  13. We have used both Home Art Studio and Atelier. We both much prefer Home Art Studio. DD thinks the Atelier teacher seems mean and it bothers her. I feel like the quality of the work DD does is much better with HAS, and the program is much cheaper.
  14. Definitely! It's a wonderful program for middle school girls!
  15. We just filled out the Vanderbilt assessment for ADHD for our DD. My DH and I filled out our own, DD's Sunday School teacher filled one out, and DD did a self-assessment. I included a few work samples. Will that be enough? I could have her ice skating coach fill one out because the issues are seen across the board, but I don't know if that will be necessary. Has anyone gone through this?
  16. Quality art supplies make a huge difference in both effort and final product in my opinion. I think splurging for the good stuff is absolutely worth it most of the time. However, I don't necessarily think that the bundled art supplies are super high quality and often bought the brands I preferred instead.
  17. If this is a volunteer coach (or frankly even a paid one) I think it would be inappropriate and odd for the coach to have to pay for medals for the kids. Parents should be charged for these things before the coach has to pay!
  18. I'd guess $10-15 per kid.
  19. Or, for omnivores, is it more about "I can't fix everything, so I will fix nothing"?
  20. This has been my experience too. It's absurd.
  21. Unless she'd be eating the leather, this isn't even relevant. The sugar actually touches the bone char (which comes from animals that were killed) and therefore you'd be consuming it if you eat it. Having someone's leather shoes touch your floor isn't the same unless you're licking the shoes - or the floor.
  22. No, but I make amazingly awesome vegan food for them!
  23. Hideaways in History might be fun and they could build the 'hideaways' together out of cardboard boxes maybe. I am, however, a true lover of WP. In the last couple of years they have really improved their customer service and I think their products are really different and fun!
