  1. California and Arizona banned adding food dye to their oranges so I buy the ones from those states.
  2. My son has a sensitivity to food dyes. We need to stay away from all artificial dyes, including caramel coloring (in most breads). Yes, white marshmallows have blue dye to make them look whiter. I recently discovered that Florida oranges have dye added to make them look better depending on when in the season they were grown. It is so frustrating. My nut allergy girl is easier to shop for.
  3. They also have a free App that has all the sounds on it. If I remember correctly it is basically the same as the CD that is in the kit.
  4. Thank you for the ideas. I'll be looking into them this weekend when I have some spare time. Again thank you very much.
  5. I am looking for some type of logic activities for my soon to be 8 yr old. He loves things where he can try to figure things out. Some thing hands on with manipulatives would be great. Is there anything like that? I want him to be able to play around with stuff like that while I am working individually with my other child. Thanks for any suggestions.
  6. I see all you in PA and I am wondering is anyone anywhere near me? I'm in Ridgway School district.
  7. A while back someone posted a link to a youtube video of breastfeeding in a restaurant to the some my milkshakes bring all the boys to the yard. I can't find the video to the song. Can anyone help? Thanks
  8. Would you mind sharing your sloppy joe sauce recipe? I've been trying different ones to get away from buying Manwich (no one likes it but me). The ones I've tried so far everyone likes but me.
  9. I'm looking to make BBQ chicken (shredded) sandwiches. I thought I had sauce in the pantry, but I don't and I can't go get any so i need a recipe for BBQ sauce. Every recipe I've looked up calls for ketchup as the main ingredient for the sauce. I'd rather use the tomato sauce or tomato paste I have tons of. Does anyone have a good recipe? We usually use a sweet honey BBQ sauce so something like that. Thanks.
  10. I don't know what is up with kids' toys at night. I got rid of a Chicken Dance Elmo that did that. Every night I stayed up later than everyone else it would turn on and do a dance for me. It never did it any other time unless the button was pushed. And only for me. DH could stay up and nothing.
  11. I agree with all of this. From personal experience, I know a child doesn't always tell everything and will deny things and may do so for years. I say you should go now and protect your kids.
  12. Forgive me, I haven't read all the posts. I do tip the pizza delivery person more than 15% because we only tend to have it delivered if the weather is not the nicest and the poor person has to climb 32 steps to get up to our house. I also make sure to thank them very much.
  13. I have the spines cut off and spiral bound because I like the books to lay flat. I thought about putting them in binders, but decided against it because it would take up to much room on my shelf. I don't have a lot of room.
  14. Nope, it was a regular wave. The judge said as as long as the neighbor perceived it to be harassing it was harassment. We don't wave at people anymore.
  15. My DH was ticketed for waving at the neighbor.
  16. I was reading Stephen King at that age and my parents didn't filter anything I watched. I wrote some stories then that I would be concerned about if it were my child. I don't let them see stuff like that. I'd think that the child probably watched those kinds of films at home and drew his inspiration from them.
  17. Thank you so much for your posts. You have been so helpful. Yes, we did get epi-pens and he did tell me about keeping them and the Benadryl with me at all times. When I asked him about them he apologized. He thought after her reaction at Christmas time that our pedi had prescribed us some. She was tested for coconuts and showed no reaction. That's good because I cook with coconut oil. I will have to research the companies that make coconut oil to see which one is safest. Before she had the reaction to the nut (probably walnut) in the candy she was only eating either a peanut butter sandwich or a Nutella sandwich for lunch every day. She never had any reaction. I'll have to check about the cross contamination possibility of the Nutella. I will watch her closely when she has them now to look for any new reactions. I feel better now that I have the epi pen. She snacked on frozen peas all last summer with no reaction. I will probably cautiously try her on them again this summer. She really loved them. It seems like the things she's tested worst for are the ones she won't eat anyway. As for the nuts, I will be keeping all away from her except the peanutbutter and Nutella (unless she starts reacting to them). I figure it'll be easier if I tell anyone who keeps her that she can't have any nuts though. And of course, teach them how to use the epi pen. It is the cross contamination that worries me the most especially at restaurants. Those are the main place where we can't control everything. Luckily, we don't go out very often.
  18. We had more testing done. Her skin reacted to peas, peanuts, and hazelnuts. The last two he said were borderline. He said since she has had these foods without any problems, he calls this a nonreactive allergy. She can still have them, but we are to be aware that she did test positive for them and to watch for reactions when she has them. So right now we have only have to avoid walnuts, cashews, pecans, brazil nuts, and almonds. She can have trace amounts of eggs in baked goods.
  19. I make my own. I make it light. I don't care for molasses and with the darker it has more molasses.
  20. I haven't yet, but I'm also considering it. We've been avoiding dyes due to DS behaviors and that has helped a lot. I'm wondering if doing more would even be better.
  21. We had two show up yesterday and the kids wanted to start them already. Two more should show up Monday. The kids so badly want to start new stuff. I wish they'd get this excited about the stuff they're supposed to be doing now...lol
  22. It's sad I check the tracking status each day when I know most won't come until next week. I do get one package today! I have done this many, many times when I've gone to the thrift store. If I can't remember if I've bought a book I buy again just in case I didn't.
  23. ....is so hard! I just placed my order for our new stuff two days ago and I'm already counting down the days until they arrive. :toetap05: Even the kids are excited to see their new stuff. :hurray:
  24. I don't usually do this, but my friend Angie needs a lot of prayers. Her two teen daughters are really being terrible to her and it is starting to really get to her. It's affecting her, her marriage (2nd DH, not 2 daughters father though he's helped raise them for the last 9 years), and her two other children (to 2nd DH). She's not the type to cry, but she's broken down several times because of what they and her XMIL are doing to her. Please send prayers her way. Thank you.
