They are both great names! I think it's the hard vowels that trips up the tongue when said together and frequently. Consider trying that out while you ponder.

We have Kenmore dishwasher and W/D and they have been faithful workhorses! When our dishwasher needed a minor repair, it cost us 100$ to fix it (1st repair in 8 years) and the repairman said he wouldn't recommend replacing it because they don't make as powerful a motor any longer. Something to do with EPA standards I think.(?) Eventually, we'll have to replace but for future reference - try to find the most powerful motor is what I took away from that experience.

...being familiar with the documentary hypothesis, I don't think that its use would fulfil the intent of this assignment. Basically the argument you are being asked to make is that Genesis is literally true, and the documentary hypothesis does not support that.
If you really want to skirt the issue I have a few ideas:
1. Macro vs. micro evolution--there is undisputed evidence that animals adapt to their surrounding and evolve to fit their environment, with survival of the fittest coming into play. However, there is little or no evidence that animals evolve into different kinds of animals (macro evolution).
2. Steady state assumptions and their problems. If, for instance, C14 dating depends on a 'normal' ratio of C12 to C14 always having been present in living creatures, is there evidence that that was not always the ratio? That's just one example. I don't have the data to confirm or deny this specific one.
3. What if animals are symbiotic with other ones that are not believed to be present at the same time in history? I have heard it alleged that bees and flowers are an example of this.
4. Catastrophies and their sudden effects vs. gradual change over time. Consider the Flood or Mount St. Helens or Krakatoa or a large meteor hitting the earth--all would be examples of catastrophies that disrupt the natural processes of reproduction and population. Evolution depends to a great extent on a steady state of population and on the assumption that layers in the earth are due to gradual, steady laying down of debris with time. If a catastrophy causes many layers to deposit during a short time, then it would cause that area to have the appearance of a much greater age than reality.
I'm sorry that I don't have more examples that are specific, but I have not studied this thoroughly in a very long time. Do you own the Apologia General Science book? My recollection from reviewing it at a conference is that it had lots of examples of this kind of thing.
I think this response will get your wheels turning. In addition, I want to mention the concept of "irreducible complexity". It's the term used to explain certain biologic processes that are unable to be reduced any further and still function (ie bacterial flagellum). Basically it supports the concept of "something" out of nothing which was created by a "designer" as opposed to "something" out of "nothing" which was nothing.

We bake ours and then freeze it. We couldn't tell the difference between this and fresh baked. We do use lots of crumbly topping.

I hate that I ever watched the show and allowed my kids to too! Somehow I fell into "caring" and then after the break-up, praying. And now, gee whiz it's insane. But I think a lot of biblical truth being played out too. Lesson for me- don't waste my time watching other lives on tv. Too much great life happening right here!

When asked how many children she has, my girlfriend answers in a super sincere and sweet voice - Oh, I "ONLY" have 8. It puts the person off every time. And later gives them another perspective to think about.

I have 4 children, 3 are adopted, 2 adopted as "older" children. So I do know some of the complicated struggles of the heart. However I do not think, barring special circumstances, that an adopted child should be handled differently in most situations. Challenging? Yes! But so are many, many different children for as many reasons as they are varied in their phenotype/genetic makeup.
I agree that you should err on the side of love and find ways (even create ways?) to give positive, individualized attention in a non-conflict situation. The more love and affirmation she finds outside of school will naturally grow in her an increased desire to do well and to please others. She may be the very child that grows into your dearest friend as an adult. These times WILL pass - so it helps to focus on your long term goals for her as a mature little person. It will all be worth it then. :001_smile: Saying a prayer for you today!

they had asked in advance and IF you wanted to have a fence, that would have been a good neighborly thing to do - request your participation. And you could have graciously answered your preference.
Their request is not the customary and acceptable course of action when fence building (we've built two in the past). It doesn't appear they understand common courtesy frankly. Best wishes as you try to find a way to bless and not curse despite their deserving a curse!

We have pushed into a new area now as my oldest is more advanced than the rest of us but MFW worked well for years with my four (at the time ages 5-11).

I definitely believe it was inappropriate for an adult to correct a 14 y.o. without the presence or inclusion of a parent in the conversation. And even IF the parent was included, I feel the rebuke was too personal and unprofessional. Apparently the 14 y.o. may have acted immaturely or inappropriately, but it does not benefit a young person to be corrected in like manner.

I lived in Texas all my life and found it quite pleasant - people, jobs, land, housing. But... we left the hot nine years ago for the northeast and never want to return. If you love hot, you will be in heaven.

My husband is fluent in Spanish. He was in his thirties before he immersed himself in the Pimsleur course and now his accent and dialect are remarkable - most native speakers comment on this.
