  1. Thanks all for the comments. When I say I know nothing, I literally mean NOTHING. Is anyone aware of music theory workbooks for kids that contain the solutions? I see lots of products, but from the descriptions and reviews and I can't tell if they have solutions. Without that, I'd have no way of knowing if she got the correct answers.
  2. My 6 year old is now taking piano lessons, but I don't know anything about music. What can I do to help her? At this point, all I can do is make sure she practices 15-20 minutes per day. Are there any kind of resources for folks in my situation that will facilitate her learning? For example, workbooks for reading music.
  3. anyone know where to get good worksheets or workbooks with Venn Diagrams for elementary school kids?
  4. Child is reading at this point...Is there an advanced program you would recommend in addition to books? Or just go with books? Thank you
  5. What should we do after we've been through it 3 times? Just move on to books? Or some combination of books and a more advanced reading program? Anyone have recommendations? Thank you.
  6. started teaching ours to read in English and Spanish at age 3.5. Has worked beautifully...no problems at all...Used Teach Your Child to read in 100 lessons and ordinary parents guide to teaching reading...also have some spanish resources. if you are interested in the details let me know...But Spanish is so phonetic you can use almost anything....Please give it a shot. Good luck.
  7. I couldn't agree more...My daughter at age 4 is fully fluent in two languages and is picking up a third. She had the languages sorted by age two. Virtually all (if not all) of the studies support this and suggest there is absolutely no reason to refrain from using multiple languages with children. It should be a crime for someone to give that advice. Best of luck to you.
  8. In addition to La Pata Pita, we've used Mi Metodo De Lectura. Now I'm looking for a French program..Any recommendations??
  9. Thanks for the response. I actually have something similar to these..I'm looking for something that might contain, e.g., short stories about George Washington, or Abe Lincoln, and condensed versions of great literary works.
  10. Hi, I am looking for short books (with pictures) that I can read to or with my 4 year old which are based on history or famous literary works. Is anyone aware of such a product? Thank you.
  11. Anyone out there send their kids to a school which uses a language immersion program? If so, are you happy with your choice? Looking at a school which teaches in French 60% and English 40%. Any input would be appreciated.
  12. aahhh....muchas gracias.:tongue_smilie:
  13. Several of the initial lessons reference "Masters K-14A" and "Masters K-14B". I can't find anything that explains what they are or where I can buy them. Any help would be appreciated. I know I'm missing something.
  14. Thanks - I am not familiar with the tag search function
  15. Thanks for chiming in..I'm looking for other parents focused on PreK and K, just to share ideas.
  16. There is a wealth of information on these WTM forums. However, as most of the threads are geared towards homeschooling, is anyone aware of similar educational type forums for parents of children who attend school full time? THank you.
  17. Anyone know of anything like this for a 4 year old? i am only aware of Literactive.com...Also looking for other materials/workbooks for Visual discrimination.
  18. Can someone recommend good software for a preschooler to learn math concepts?
  19. Does anyone know of a decent software program that teaches math concepts to preschoolers (but that is in Spanish)? Thanks
  20. Thanks for the recommendation. I picked it up from the local library and really like it. It along with Give Your Child a Superior Mind and Well Trained Mind provide a great framework. Thanks to others who commented. While I can see your points about this not being the right forum for asking such a question, I had faith that someone would come through. I am new to this site and have found it to be very helpful. While I will be sending my child to a traditional school (presumably unlike most of the posters), I do incorporate home schooling concepts into our life. As such, I think this board and the posters are an incredibly valuable resource.:tongue_smilie:
  21. Regrettably, the private schools where I live require the testing for admission. Admission is very competitive. Top school has acceptance rate of 15%, and no. 2 school has a rate of 25%. So the test scores are important unfortunately. Prepping for these tests is common from what I've read..Just hoping someone can recommend materials. THank you.
  22. Can anyone recommend prep. materials for 3-4 year old? I have seen a number of workbooks out there. Just looking for recommendations. Thank you.
