  1. Foundations of World History by Anne Elliot
  2. You should look into Visual Link Spanish. We like it here, and it has you speaking in sentences almost right away.
  3. I started with the book first, then got the CDs, then went back to the text. If you can get the CDs used, you could use both and see which your dc prefer. They didn't have online when I used Professor B. I found that the text actually explained things quite well. If I remember correctly, it was in book 2 that we switched back to using the text after trying the CD for a bit. I don't think we did book 3 because my son went to school the year after that.
  4. I used Professor B with my oldest, and had the text and the CDs, and he preferred me to teach with the text rather than the CD.
  5. We really enjoyed the African feast as well, with the papaya stir-fried rice, and the chicken with figs. My kids still ask for the fried rice from time to time.
  6. We still have our chicken mummy that we made 7 years ago! We used a cornish game hen as well.
  7. I will be getting the vol. 1 audiobook for my boys, and would like to know whether the CDs or mp3's would be better.
  8. Thanks, everyone, for putting my mind at ease. When I discovered this, dh was at work. I told him about it when he came home and he said that he had the same thing when he was a kid. His brother and dad did too, so I guess it runs in his family. Good to know that it's nothing to worry about :001_smile:
  9. My 2nd ds who turned 13 in January seems to be developing bre*st buds, especially on one side. He is not overweight, so I don't think it's extra fat in that area. I noticed last week when he was wearing a thin shirt, that one side seemed to be protruding more than the other. Then today at swimming lessons, I was watching him from a distance, and his chest looked like what a girl's would when she is just starting to develop. So tonight, I felt around both sides, and there is definitely a hard lump on both sides, but once side is a bit bigger than the other. I remember developing like this when I started puberty. I will be making an appointment for him with the doctor, but in the meanwhile, has anyone else's dss had this happen to them? I am trying not to worry.
  10. Would it be too difficult to combine a 6 year old and 11 year old? If so, which level?
  11. I agree. I didn't agree with some of Vos' commentary/theology right near the beginning, so I sold the book a long time ago.
  12. I used Prof B with my son, and got the CDs, but you aren't supposed to just let your child watch the CDs on her own. You are supposed to sit with them and read the parts that you are supposed to read. My son actually preferred that I teach the math to him using the textbooks (he was in grade 5 at the time), so I ended up selling the CDs and just using the text book and workbooks. I would think that you would either get the CD or the textbook, but you need the workbook because that's where the practice problems are after the lesson has been taught. There's also an answer key you can get.
  13. I am thinking of using Rainbow Science for 8th. Has anyone done the whole program in one year? If so, how did your dc find doing that, and do you have a schedule for it? Is it a fun curriculum? My son says that science is one of his favourite subjects. Thanks.
  14. Has anyone used the elementary programs for grades 3, 4, or 5? Opinions?
  15. What are you using for grade 8 science? I looked at Apologia General Science, but it looks kind of dry and boring to me. Maybe I am wrong though. Apologia's Physical Science looks more interesting, but I need something for grade 8. Ds is in school this year, but I may homeschool him next year. Thanks.
  16. I just got the ETC ABC books for my ds 5, and on some of the pages, there are a bunch of pictures with instructions to "Listen; then follow the direction". Where are the directions? I flipped through the whole book but don't see them anywhere. Thanks.
  17. I plan on using SOTW 1 with my fifth grader next year. I will also have a first grader. Other than that, I can't answer your question, but I'm hoping my older son will like it.
  18. For Math, I am deciding between MEP and CLE. Lang Art: WWE1 and FLL1 SS:We'll also be using SOTW Science: Nancy Larson or Sonlight probably
  19. I was an extra in a movie, as a passenger waiting at an aiport, but I am in the background and very blurry, so you can't tell it's me. Plus the camera passed me by very quickly.
  20. Great! Thanks. I'm going to order them for him.
  21. Ds5 is in kindergarten, and I am considering these three workbooks for him, but I am wondering if he needs to know his letter sounds before using these books. He only knows about half of his phonograms so far. Thanks.
  22. I'll be 54 when my youngest graduates from high school. Dh will be 68.
  23. Take a look at MEP math. It's free! http://www.cimt.plymouth.ac.uk/projects/mepres/primary/default.htm
