  1. Okay, I guess I'm one of very few wanting to do Spanish. I will tell you others that the Power-Glide Spanish looks pretty neat. They are coming out with a new version that you do on your computer. I'm looking at the earlier version that comes with cd's & workbooks. I had thought about just getting a workbook or two to go along with our "My First Spanish Words" book (or something like that) but decided if I butchered the pronunciation of the words I wouldnt be doing any of us a favor. Anyway, I may be going with Power-Glide since there doesnt seem to be alot feedback on this subject. If anyone else is interested you can look at sample pages & write ups on this at rainbowresource.com or cbd.com or go to power-glide.com
  2. I'm also doing 1st grade Abeka (for the 3rd time) & I will say most of what comes in the kit you can find on ebay or homeschoolclassifieds alot cheaper. I bought the readers & curriculum/lesson plans used for much less. The workbooks, Letters & Sounds, Language & Writing, you can get separate from Abeka.
  3. I'd like to do Spanish with my 6th graders but I need something that doesn't require me to know much, okay, anything, in order to teach them. I'm looking at Power-Glide. Has anyone done this or have any other suggestions?
  4. Hi! I'm just jumping in to all of the comments & there's ALOT!! I think Sun is contacting Widmore to get his help in getting her back & look for Jin. She may realize by now that even though you think someone has died, they sometimes havent! And she also knows that Widmore was the one heading the big search for the island. Anyway, that's my 2 cents!
  5. Thanks for all the good info. I actually do teach my (will be) 4th & 5th grade boys, science together at the older level (the younger could actually teach me a thing or two about most any subject in science). My dd will be starting K this year & I would like to try to include her in some of the stuff. That should be rather interesting! I havent ordered any books yet so how do you know what you need in this "kit". We, err.. my son, has some science/experiment stuff so I may not need everything.
  6. So how much help does a teacher need? I'm not great at science but I can at least read a manuel! I plan on getting the teach. book but will I also need the teach. act. man. or will I be able to figure most of that out?
  7. Great! That's what I needed to know. Now the next question: Do I need both of the Teachers books (text ed. & act. man)? I'm not the biggest fan of science so after looking at the Teach. text sample I will probably need it but do I need the Teach. act. man. also or is that stuff pretty easy to figure out?
  8. You could get the teachers manuel which has the workbook sheets printed in it with the answers & very easily copy the questions to be answered. We did the Physics this year & will be doing Biology next year & I may do that for my 2 boys. I already have the teachers book & it will certainly be cheaper!
  9. So do you happen to know anything about the new 3rd ed. BJU (5th gr.) & how it compares to the 2nd ed.?
  10. With the advice I have received, I will be doing BJU science (5th gr.) next year. I have seen that there is now a 3rd ed. out. Is there a big difference between it & the 2nd ed. (which I can get rather cheap!).
  11. Thanks for the info! I am very anti-tweaking. If it has to be tweaked, there is bound to be something else better!
  12. I've seen alot of people using BJU but was also wondering about Lifepac, which I've not seen anyone talking about. Does anyone use/like Lifepac?
