  1. Wise Guy The Life and Philosophy of Socrates by MD Usher Funny, wonderful illustrations (William Bramhall) and written in an interesting way, not dry and boring at all.
  2. Egyptian Diary by Richard Platt (and he has other "Diary" books, too that we haven't read yet but plan to); Jeremy Strong has some really funny chapter books We loved, loved, loved The 26 Fairmount Ave series by Tomie dePaola Trumpet of the Swan was another favorite
  3. My 8yo son is definitely a visual learner. He seems to retain more from illustrated books, videos and computer time. I would love to hear any tips or advice, blog posts, websites, etc that you can think of. And also any educational videos/dvds that you can recommend. Thanks so much!
  4. It's not a good time for buying used Sonlight I'm finding. If I do go with SL, I will probably have to purchase the IG's and most requirements from their site and then try to get the books used online.
  5. Thanks, I am looking it over and it looks like Core C would be more my son's pace. I wonder if it would be worth it to find the books used and just buy the teachers manual and required items from Sonlight. Would probably be a big hassle though?

  10. Oh thanks! I have checked out the 2 links listed to purchase them, but they don't give out much info, so what you have just told me is very helpful. I think I just may get these!!!

  14. Now you've given me an idea. My husband works in robotics...what about a field trip to a robotics place? (I wonder if my husband's place will be open to this, hope so!!!)
