  1. My 9 year old son has dyslexia. We have been doing a math program that requires reading the directions and jumping from one math concept to another throughout each day’s lesson. ( example: add triple digits, count money, work with fractions, skip count etc.) I believe it would help him progress and master math if we focused on one type of problem at a time. Is there a math program that meets this need? Thank you!

  2. Hi! My oldest child is a social butterfly. My second is the opposite. I believe that she can be taught skills to help her be more communicative with others but I don't know where to start because this comes natural to most children. She is 15. She doesn't speak much even in our home. (just a quiet natured person) When we are around others (even those she knows well) she doesn't give people a warm fuzzy feeling because she is so non-talkative. I want to teach her & help her with this. Any suggestions? She is good to smile because we have talked about that for years.

  3. When I cleaned ds's (almost 4yo) ear tonight with a Q-tip it was very waxy and he cried. I was being gentle. The alarming part is that the q-tip had a little fresh blood on it and he really cried. This was fallowed by a drop of blood coming out of his ear. He seems OK now. Should I be concerned?

  4. Hi! My 3 girls have been consistantly not doing well on the spelling portion of their yearly testing. Of course - this is obvious throughout the year too. I have tried to work on spelling with several different books. My 10th grader tests college level on everything except spelling is at 5th grade level. My 9th grader tests the same and my 4th grader tests at 2nd grade level. I am doing something wrong. I am willing to put any amount of work into this problem this year. I am thinking of teaching all 3 together daily and going through All About Spelling. Any suggestions?

  5. Hi! I need another teacher around here! :0)

I am really excited that I found out about Mr. Rosenhoff here because an instructor seems to take some of the weight off the kids compared to doing it all on their own. I try to be very involved in the Math and LA departments but I would love to find some good DVD instruction to help them through history. I am leaning towards American History for next year but that is not essential. Thanks!

  6. I need to cover American History in 1 year HS level. I am looking for a good course that will not be too time consuming because our American Lit. course is going to take so much time and energy. I was even thinking of choosing one intended for younger students so it would be easier. Any ideas.

  7. Cheryl...I love your marathon!! That was my first choice but I chose the Feb. 17th Myrtle Beach because the date works out better for me. I live about 3 hours NW of you - about an hour from Asheville. This will be my first and I am so excited or that feeling may just be concern. What marathons have you done in the past? How do you train? I have done a local 10K here in Spruce Pine, NC for several years. It is all mountain horse trails thru the rivers and over the mountains. My passion is trail running but I think I am ready for a marathon. I didn't sleep too good the night after I signed up because I was wondering what I had done...I'm glad that you are counting the cost before you sign up...but if I can do it...you can.
