For the early years. I am going to do the Story of the World...but also want to have this other book on file to supplement. 4. Hi All, I read on a thread somewhere a while back of a specific Spanish curriculum that someone uses. I was interested in it, didn't write it down, and now can't find it anywhere! Can someone help me please? Here is what I know about it...it is online, seemed self guided by the children. The woman loved it! As well as did her children! Learned a lot! for some reason I feel like I remember it being called something like: Mee Hee, or Tee Hee spanish...a weird name like that. I have searched several different things on google and have been unsuccessful in finding it! Does anyone know what I am talking about??? Thank you, Katie Beth

  6. Thank you for your responses! So now, question on specific curriculums. My goal is to keep it simple, so it is something I can and will stick with, but at the same time feel good about what we are doing -- that it is very rich in literature and such... I like the classical model, as it is cohesive! The science and history flow well, and it is easy to add art in as well, following the timeline with art history. SO...curriculum questions. My Fathers World---is this classical education??? When I looked at the first grade curriculum, it didn't seem like there was any history other than the Bible. and it didn't seem like there were suggested read alouds? I would like to find a history that does both Bible and Regular World -- in the same chronological time. Honest opinion on MFW -- is this a "rich" curriculum... is it watered down...or a pretty engaging and in depth? (I just don't want to purchase a curriculum, and feel like I need to add more to make it more rich -- and then am back to stressing about are they getting enough! sheesh! is it just me?) What i have seen with MFW -- I like that it seems simple and cohesive -- and a directive Bible lesson...which I need better direction in. Question on Apologia...any thoughts? I have heard great things about it...but don't want to complicate things by having so many different in depth curriculums in our core that I am overwhelmed and stress....Especially when our other children reach the age of schooling. I want to set us up so we can find a model that works for us, and have a smooth transition when the other children are added to schooling.... Again, simple is my key!...Any more suggestions? thank you in advance! katie beth
  7. I dont' know what c rods are?...is this something you use as a supplement to your math curriculum to help teach math facts? or is this a whole curriculum itself? katie beth
  8. I am a newbie in the venture of converting our studies to the four year cycle. I am excited, but a bit overwhelmed and need direction. My goal is to keep it as simple as possible. I have a 6 DS, 2 DS, and baby on the way. I like organizing our schooling into a weekly set up, so it's easy to follow and doesn't completely bind us to a calendar. So do any of you know a resource or have done this yourself -- broken up each year cycle into a 32 or 36 week topic study plan? (by that I don't mean unit studies...i mean moreover what needs to be studied each week with in the four cycle to complete the entire cycle in a year. does that make sense?) It seems as though a lot of the resources suggested such as the usborne books are really great -- but since it's not a curriculum per say, you its up to the parent/teacher to break the yearly cycle material as they see fit. This method kind of goes against my comfort zone as i'm more of a checklist kind of girl, and like to have a plan. so...any thoughts?...or are there any curriculums that follow this four year cycle plan for history and science???? I have heard great things about apologia -- but they have their books broken down into more subjects than just the 4 year cycle -- and i was getting confused as to how to modify it. As you can tell I'm great at making things more difficult than need be. So can anyone offer some direction and advice in simplyfying this task? thank you in advance! katie beth
