I can't myself raise the winds that might blow us or this ship into a better world. But I can at least put up the sail so that when the winds comes, I can catch it

  6. My DD is arguing with me that pi is not an unending nonrepeating number. Because, you know, her 6th grade brain and reasoning skills are obviously superior to centuries of mathematical geniuses and thought.

Yeah, how can they be so brilliant about everything else, but forget to replace the toilet paper roll? Or put their clothes in the hamper? Or the empty bag in the trash? or? or? or?

  7. So if I am having a hard time getting my daughter to do her math lesson because she is making hexaflexagons and thinking about patterns do I consider that a success?

No idea. Maybe the same reason that empty peanut butter jars are carefully returned to the fridge? Gremlins?

The songs of the birds seem to fill the wood~That when the fiddler plays~All their voices can be heard~Long past their woodland days...Loreena Mckennitt - The Mummers' Dance

  13. I always give up most of my social media for Lent, but with the election, I finally got fed up with Facebook, so for the tail end of Lent, I'm giving up Facebook and hanging out in this lovely, civil, election free social media zone with all of you wonderful people instead. Sanity now, please.

Yes, the each do it their own way, for sure. My happy, sunny child was a bear for about 6 months. My "difficult" child will no doubt find a way to take things even further - that is her thing. I will strive to maintain a sense of humor. And grace.

The rest of the morning - after math - went better. But I had to leave the room, more than once, during math. My kitchen is nice and clean now, though!

Thanks, guys. We have fans running in our closet and up in the crawl space above my office, and they are going to pull out and replace the ceilings. At least my office is back up and running for now. I want it to rain again soon so we can be sure that the leaks are actually plugged!
