  1. Good idea, is their stuff pretty tasty?
  2. My mother and father in-law are coming to visit from Europe in four days. They are staying two weeks and have only visited a few times. They are wonderful and I would really like to feed them well, but.... I have been sick for the last 3 weeks. I had pneumonia and actually cracked a rib with all the coughing. I am better now, but I am weak, I get tired easily and my rib is super painful. I had planned on having lots of food prepared before they came, but obviously that didn't happen. Does anyone know of any reasonably priced family sized frozen meals that I could buy (or very easily make) so that I don't have to cook every night they are here? They only eat beef, so chicken dishes won't work. Thank you!!!
  3. Everyone in my family has been sick :-(. We have been to the doctor 6 times in the last few weeks. I got the worst of it with a lovely case of pneumonia. I am pretty sure that I have broken a rib from all the coughing. It has been painful (but not excruciating) for the last week and a half. The pneumonia is better thanks to antibiotics, but I am curious if a suspected broken rib merits a trip to the doctor? Online websites seem to indicate that these heal on their own and just require pain meds. We have good insurance, so the cost isn't a problem. I just always feel guilty going to the doctor if it isn't necessary. I know they are swamped right now. Any thoughts?
  4. It isn't my favorite, but what maters is if you and your family love it ;-).
  5. Maybe a nice long walk or play session in the evening would help her sleep better. Also they make "calming" supplements for dogs OTC. Maybe it would help get her out of the cycle. My older dog used to wake me up every night. Not getting enough sleep STINKS!
  6. I talked to the therapist and there is no fee..... Phew!
  7. Could there be a critter (mouse, squirrel, cat, raccoon etc) making its rounds within earshot of her?
  8. Most of the time, yes the fee wouldn't be a problem, but this month throwing away an extra $45 just isn't an option. I wish I was in a position to hope that the fee wouldn't be charged, but this time I just need to know :-(. I will just have to call and ask exactly how she handles cancellations for illness.
  9. I hate asking the therapist for special treatment, but we have had to take everyone to the doctor this month and Geesh it gets expensive (even with good insurance).
  10. Dd has a therapy session today. The fee is $15 normally (thanks to insurance), but there is a $60 fee if you cancel with less than 24 hour notice. Well, dd woke up sick this morning and I really don't want to pay $60 for having to cancel (this month is tight already). Should I give her meds and take her anyway, should I call the therapist and explain the situation and ask her to waive the additional fee (I don't mind paying the $15).
  11. I don't feel a physical need/desire. It doesn't feel good (in fact it is downright unpleasant) when I don't feel any desire.
  12. Phew, I found the owner. They were very nice. It was a cat they recently found and is scheduled to get her shots/spay this week (no rabies shot yet). I saw the cat jump up and be very loving to her owner. I asked the owners to call me if she got sick in the next several weeks. But she looked healthy and sweet with her owner. She was probably looking for a boy (which our cat is- he is scheduled to be neutered in a couple days). I saw a show about rabies that scared me to death a few years ago, now I am a bit paranoid :-/
  13. My daughter opened our front door to go out and play and a young cat came toward her, scratched her and she said bit her (it must have been very minor, no blood just a few scrapes). The cat then came in our house?!? Thank goodness my dog helped scare him out. I didn't see a rabies tag on the cat, what should I do if anything?
  14. The recent threads about parents getting in trouble for not supervising their children enough has me a bit paranoid. Obviously, just following my own common sense may not keep me out of trouble. Is there any website that gives a comprehensive list of supervision/parenting requirements? Right now my kids are 5,6,8. We have lived on the same street for nearly a decade (as have our neighbors). We are very close friends with most of the folks living near us (and well acquainted with the others). Because of this all the neighbors give their kids pretty free reign to enjoy about 1/2 of our short street without constant supervision. All the kids know that they can pretty much go to any house for a bandaid, a drink or help of any kind. I would love to know for sure whether this really pleasant way of life is negligent or not :-/.
  15. No, I have never felt harassed. I try to be enthusiastic and positive about what other people's kids are learning and where they are learning it, and they tend to be positive when we talk about homeschooling.
  16. I am sorry. I don't have anything worthwhile to add, but I wanted to encourage you that just because your marriage is unhappy now does not mean it always will be. I know many, many couples who have been on the brink of divorce, and been able to work through that and come out of the situation with a happier more intimate marriage. Hang in there. (((((()))))
  17. What are my best options for writing remediation with a 3rd grader that struggles with dysgraphia?
  18. Maybe both you and your husband could boycott and you could send BOTH letters. ;-)
  19. We need a new computer and would like to save some money by buying used, but we are scared that we could be held responsible if the previous owner did something illegal with the computer (such as viewing child pornography). Is it safe to buy a used computer?
  20. I have a seperate bookshelf for research books. The paint stirrers would be a great way to divide them by topic.
