  1. The Ananda brand is the one my doctor friend suggested as they are tested and reliable for what is in them. They did take about 2 weeks for me to notice a difference.
  2. Yes. I didn’t catch the auto correct. glad it is helpful.
  3. Not sure if this is helpful…..so ignore if you want. i was to the point of knee replacement surgery. Doctor just said to schedule when I wanted it. Severe arthritis, torn meniscus, etc. what I did that works for me: —water aerobics starting with the very gentle senior stretching one in the pool —exercise bike —slow walks —Orthodics for my shoes to better align things —PT to get some exercise for at home —turmeric supplements —glucosamine supplements —Amanda brand CBS fruit chew —DDPY yoga I still have knee pain but it is manageable and mostly after sleeping or sitting for a long time. This summer I did several backpacking trips of 13 mile days with a 33 pound back and had no real knee pain. It might not work for you and surgery might be your best option but this is all helping me. I only very rarely take anything for pain.
  4. News on Recliner in a pothole This is near me. The people of the small town are taking it and having a great deal of fun with it. Lots of pictures of people there…..even Bernie Sanders in his mittens showed up. From a very politically divided County, this has been fun.
  5. My friend with pretty severe EDS found that a senior water aerobics class (the stretch and stride low impact one) helped get her moving again when she could hardly walk.
  6. I don’t know about that but my physical therapy friend gave me a few ideas when I was considering it: 1. Ask around for the best surgeon you can get…..often physical therapists know which ones have the best outcomes 2. Do some physical therapy before the surgery to strengthen the muscles you will need for the rehab 3. Follow the doctor/physical therapists orders for what to do and not to do as healing 4. Do the therapy as directed including the at home exercises
  7. I have no idea how many books I read. I did the audio version of the complete Bible with The Bible Recap. Then I averaged about 8 books a month from the library, most audio books and most I finished but I abandoned quite a few. Then I get free kindle books from daily emails I get so there were quite a few there. I have different reading tastes than many here….no mysteries, murders, fantasy or sci fi for me. Still, I love heard about all of the different books out there and often add new titles to my hold and wish lists. It has really broadened my reading. I remember years ago when most of my fiction was Christian romance books. Now I rarely read a romance book unless there is a good plot/story with a bit of romance.
  8. 1000 hours outside I believe it was started by a homeschool mom when she saw/read that elementary aged kids were spending 1000 hours a year on electronics. She decided to do a 1000 hours outside challenge for her kids. There are books and blogs and t shirts, etc now. Basically it started as a homeschool thing to get kids outside more. I heard about it from my homeschooling neighbor and I joined in even though my kids were in their 20s by then. Ot did motivate me to be outside more. I volunteered for all of the walks and other outdoor time at school (where I work) that year. I counted almost everything that was beyond walking to my car and back. Camping in a tent helped my hours. Eating outside, sitting outside to read or chat with a friend counted. Any outdoor exercise, etc. Basically you make up your own rules. Some just track 100 hours, others 1000 or you can decide to do anything between that.
  9. The website has free printable trackers you can use to color in. I did one a few years ago using different colors for different temperatures. That was kinda neat. I also did the challenge as a 1000 miles outside challenge. Biking, walking, hiking, snowshoe, cross country ski, and even kayaking all counted towards the miles…..anything that was me doing the work. camping in a tent really helps to rack up the hours. I bought the long sleeve T Shirt when I was done with the 1000 hours. And yes, I was a 50 year old woman with no younger kids at home, doing the challenge…..I just loved the color of the T shirt.🤣
  10. I used a more rural post office in my area and was in and out for a renewal in just a few minutes.
  11. The systems all over are broken. I would love to build an assisted living center for the elderly that also included rooms for those with mild intellectual disabilities, some young professionals, etc. A sort of multigenerational living. The young people could help the older ones out with physical tasks and the older people could offer wisdom and guidance to the young people. They could provide socialization for each other. There would be a dining room serving 1-3 meals a day (depending on your needs) with some units having small kitchenettes for those able to cook on their own. Then in the building would be nurses and aides for those that need it, a social worker to help navigate social services and social security paperwork, etc.
  12. Was wondering how you have been doing.
  13. Is Belize an option? I have a friend that goes there almost yearly and loves it.
  14. Declutterring was my goal for this break but my mom has been in IVU, now in rehab and trying to get her into assisted living. We will see how much time I have. For sure I need to do my clothes as I am down 92 pounds over past 3 years and 50 since spring so nothing fits. next goal is my paperwork.
  15. We used to do this for teens from church and one big it was pairing them up with root beer floats.
  16. My kids said it was good. They all ate it. My mom was excited to have it but keep falling asleep (discharged from hospital yesterday to rehab in a nursing home). I ate the back up Hawaiian chicken from the crock pot.
  17. We are gift bag reusers as well. One year we had a bag that had an old tag on it that said To Pxxxxx Frim Grandma…..Pxxxx had been a foster baby I had 16 years earlier. That bag got lots of use.
  18. I should have gone backpacking. It was a low of 46° last night. High of 58° today. Last year we had a blizzard.
  19. Red and green m&ms…..use red for valentines and green for St Patrick’s day
  20. Prime rib is going in the oven. Chicken in the crock pot as back up. my mom got transferred yesterday afternoon from hospital to nursing home for rehab so everything is chaotic here. have to figure out if we try to get her in the wheelchair to my house or bring the entire meal there
  21. West Michigan here. We had a blizzard last Christmas Eve that cancelled all services, etc. This year is mid 50s and rain.
  22. Glad you found a nicer route. If you really do want to work on merging, etc you can check to see if there are adult driving lessons available in your area. My kids did these and the instructors were great and taught them very easy and practical tips for highway driving. You might just need 1-3 sessions to make you more comfortable. or, just take the scenic backroads and enjoy your drive.
  23. Thanks. I will do my best. I figured that prime rib was not to be cooked all the way to well done. to add to the challenge I get to bring this to the hospital for Christmas lunch with my mom and kids.
  24. That looks easy. Will we ruin it if we cook it until there is no more pink?
