  1. I don't know about Adderall for your type situation but I do know that Lamictal is used for depression and can help with sleep
  2. Are there any clear statistic for child accidental death rates for 60s/70s as compared to today? We're things really much more dangerous or do we just perceive that it was more dangerous?
  3. My friend who designs high end homes would label that space a "home management center".
  4. Yep. Mortgage free means a great deal.
  5. My dd needs a new mattress. I am looking at a queen size set for her. Tuft and Needle sounds like a nice bed at a nice price. I am just wondering how it holds up over the years. Are you still as happy with it as you were when you got it? Do you turn/flip it on a regular basis?
  6. I feel your pain. I wear my dyads (but the new 9 style was terrible so I found some of last year's style on line) almost every day. I have a pair of older black Clark slip on shoes that are comfortable if I don't have to do a lot of walking. I hate having hard to please feet.
  7. I am struggling a bit this week to find books that hold my attention. I did read https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/33957306-saint-mother-teresa-of-calcutta Saint Mother Teresa of Calcutta. I would give it a 3 stars. I am not Catholic so that might influence my thoughts. It was good but not riviting, etc. Nice overview of her life. The other book I finished was Minimalist Living https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/19540186-minimalist-living Another 3 ish stars. Nothing really new but a great starting point if you are wanting to downsize, declutter, get some motivation to become more of a minimalist. She is not radical though and allows for more "things" and "Stuff" than many out there. I am listening to an audio book that is OK, but not great. I really need a good listen. I would love a funny, lighthearted easy to listen book but so many of the ones listen under humor also are rated R or a strong PG 13 and I just want nice, clean(ish) fun listening.
  8. The rules are simple as well----you make up your own challenge. You can count school playgrounds, local parks, township, county, state, linear, or national parks. You can set a goal of going to a park once a week, visiting 10 new parks this year, trying a new activity at a favorite park or whatever fits the needs of your family and your locale. You can count playgrounds, walking, hiking, biking, horseback riding, fishing, swimming, skating, skiing, boating, kayaking, etc......whatever activities you want. ************************************ Yesterday I got in my 4th park of the year. Coast Guard Park, a small park with playground, ball fields, bathrooms, and a dog park that connects via trails through the sand dunes to a beach on Lake Michigan and a state park 8 miles away. I met up with a friend and we hiked just under 2 miles. Despite the really warm weather here we found many of the trails covered with ice which really limited us in climbing up and down. Still a great small hike. I am hoping that the better weather coming will allow me to get out and explore more parks even yet this week.
  9. Wow....I didn't know so many of you lived in the Tampa/Clearwater/St Petersburg area. My girls have bio siblings that live in that area. We have been to visit twice and loved it...granted it was April and Dec when we visited. If/when we get there again maybe we can have a low key meet up somewhere.
  10. I am looking for some engaging, well read, audio books. They need to be clean (like mostly pg or mild pg13), no fantasy, sci first or gory, light cozy mystery OK, ok for teens to listen in, and I would.love something light hearted and fun (or funny). Bonus points for minority author/multi cultural, etc. Books I have loved in audiobook format: Born a Crime The Orphans Tale The girl on the train The Nightingale The Mountain Between Us A Man Called Over What have you got for me? Facing a few rough weeks coming up and need a diversion while driving, cooking, cleaning, etc.

Come sit with me. I can out ugly cry anyone at church. I cry at the songs, the sermon, the special guests, and today even the announcements. I pack my purse full of Kleenex before I leave on Sunday mornings. OP...you have a lot going on. Give yourself the permission to cry. If it makes it better for you, find a good friend and share a cry.
  12. Not directly kitchen and not cheap but I would make sure they had a good smoke/fire/carbon monoxide detector.
  13. Depending on what area of the country you are in, learning Spanish would be a great asset as bilingual doctors are in high demand. As another aside, I would encourage her to interact with all ages of people, those with various disabilities, social and economic classes that Are different than your, etc. A surgeon with great skill is wonderful but one that can really relate to people from various background, abilities, etc is huge.
  14. I spent the week emptying out MIL house as she moved to assisted living Tuesday. This alone is a huge motivator to dejunk, pare down, reduce, donate, etc. Now the issue is that I have a van and horse trailer load of stuff to go through, sort, etc fir my house. Much of it we will keep and put in our house and then take out stuff we had here we will then no longer need.....ie, keep the nicer dresser from Grandma and donate a different dresser, etc.
  15. Are you in close proximity to where the parents are from? Another alternative, if the baby does go into care, is to be a respite provider for the Foster family, maintain contact as a relative, etc but not take placement.
  16. https://www.orlandomedicalrentals.com/medical-equipment-rentals-orlando.asp Have you seen these medical strollers for rent?
  17. Glad it went well. I was going to suggest that if you run across an item (or set of sheets) you are unsure about, just set it aside for the other person.
  18. Ask at your local special needs school, on Craigslist, Facebook, etc. Often you can find used ones that people will loan or give you that have been outgrown. Free to take in an airplane

Drury inn was supper every day. I would call to double check but we have had it on weekends before.

For a hotel, Drury Inns and many Homewood suites offers nightly light dinner (plenty for our family), free snacks and pop, and a free hot breakfast. That makes it so nice and saves a lot of money. They usually have pools, etc as well and are quite nice.
  21. Certainly get a medical grade stroller if you can find one. They are easy to push and designed for taller/heavier kids. Get it tagged as a wheelchair. Even if he doesn't ride in it much it is a great place to hang a backpack, etc and when he does need it you will be glad you have it. We had a wheelchair for our girls for their make a wish trip. They are totally ambulatory but tire easily. It was wonderful. They took turns walking and riding and it made the trip much easier. It was also great to hang the heavy backpack on the back. I also suggest an extra set of clothes "just in case".
  22. Certainly work on a medical stroller. Seriously. We use those often at the special school I work at fir autistic students who are ambulatory but need that for extra support. Even ask on local Facebook pages to see if anyone knows where to find one or has one to lend/give you.
  23. I was going to suggest keens. Does he have an ongoing need for a larger stroller? Often insurance will cover the cost. There also might be local groups that lend out outgrown medical equipment. A friend of ours just got a wheelchair for her 4 year old that way. They are not cheap but if you have a medical grade one most places view them as a "wheelchair" for accessing places that strollers are not allowed, etc.
  24. It is hard deciding what is treasure and what is junk. We found a few pieces of jewelry that appear to be worth something (at least are real gold and sentimental) and some paperwork. I am afraid I will be going through stuff for a long time. On the positive, I have donated a lot to local charities, my friends that helped me today each picked up a few items they can use, we blessed a cousin (single dad) with some bedding, dishes and the non perishable food, have a large box of stuff going to a refugee family in need, and found a handwritten note from my BIL (who was murdered in 1994) that we put away for his son who was only 20 months old at the time.
