  1. My HTC needed a new battery around 18 months. I made it last for 2 years until I could re-up and get my galaxy, but I had to charge it 1-2x during daylight hours. It was a pain.
  2. Since she's a minor traveling without a legal guardian, you will want a notarized affidavit giving permission for whoever is taking her to take her out of the country. It is not always requested, but minors have not been allowed to travel before without them, so I would to cover my bases.
  3. What will he eat now (anything other than cheerios?) Maybe we can give you some ideas on how to try to get other things into him if we know what he most likely will eat.
  4. I find, as a woman, it is REALLY easy for me to make up forgetting something to my dh. All it involves is some very special tea time. Now when dh forgets, he doesn't have it as easy!
  5. I also just read that CM may not honor gift certificates after 8/21, so if you have one use it ASAP!
  6. August 1st I believe is the cutoff for orders of paper and albums. If you order by then, you will get your order filled. No guarantee after that.
  7. I would remodel the kitchen. A really nice, modern looking kitchen will help your house sell quickly, which might enable you to purchase your dream home. If you find your dream home and can't sell your current home that would be a problem.
  8. Removable battery is huge to me. A battery will eventually wear out, especially if you don't care about the latest and greatest and want to use it for a few years, you probably will need to replace your battery. Otherwise you're stuck buying a whole new phone.
  9. I have an s3 and no issue with battery. If I'm watching Netflix all day, have email set to autosync frequently, and leave my wifi on when I'm not home sometimes the battery is down to the last 15% by the end of the day. But most days it's still in the "green" and just fine. But I did disable autosync for my email (I sync it when I go to check it) and I have it set to only update apps over wifi and such. You may just need to tweak things that run automatically and such.
  10. The whole Gale/Peeta thing. I think anyone who has seen the movie has a different perspective of it then the book. The movie totally plays up Gale and Katniss as potentially having romantic intentions. In the first book, it just wasn't there like that. I was actually surprised how different it was. That being said, I really did enjoy the books - not as in happy books - but more because they were thought provoking when it came to power, lack of spirituality, etc. etc. Good social commentary.
  11. Yeah, I have no idea. :( I guess I'll go back to the Pioneer post bound albums I used to use. I do have some coversets and pages to use up first, so I do have time to peruse options. I feel really bad for my CM rep. I've been buying from her for 8 years and they effectively are getting rid of just about everything I buy (and others too I'm sure). It's definitely going to hurt her - and she's been one of their top selling reps for years - winning incentive trips and stuff. It seems to me that they may not be out of business yet, but boneheaded decisions like this will probably put them out of business.
  12. All I will say is in my experience avoid windows phones and especially avoid HTC windows phones. We've had 3 HTC windows phones and every single one has broken in some way. Fortunately dh's last phone broke while still under warranty, so now we're on HTC phone #4, we'll see how long it lasts. I, on the other hand, have a Samsung galaxy s3 and absolutely love it.
  13. Thank you! That is a great price!
  14. I absolutely love my Merrel Gloves. They have more structure than a true minimalist shoe, but they are so comfortable (I run in them). For sandals I wear a pair of xeroshoes or my tevas or just cheap flip flops. None of those have much of an arch.
  15. I had hip pain on and off since high school. Went to my family doctor who said my joint was probably worn down from running and to take ibuprofen if it hurt. Since it wasn't constant, that sounded ok. Then when I was pregnant with my 2nd the pain came back with a vengeance. Same hip. I could hardly walk at times it was so bad. My MW suggested a Chiro who had a lot of experience with pregnant women. I went. 2 adjustments later pain free. Though I did have to keep going because with the softening of the joints in the pelvis with pregnancy things would move out of alignment pretty easily. Interestingly enough, that 2nd child ended up being 10lbs 10oz at birth, and I wonder if I would have been able to have a vaginal birth if my pelvis was still out of alignment like it was prior to the chiro (due to hip pain). Fast forward many years. Right before we left for Japan last Fall I fell while climbing down from a chair and bruised myself pretty good (I actually hit part of my pelvis on the back of the chair). We were in a rush, and I didn't even think to call my chiro. 2nd day in Japan I started having horrible back pain. Any time I walked it was like the muscles across my lower back were seizing. Here I was, in a foreign country, trying to walk a lot to see the sights. It was AWFUL. I was mega dosing on ibuprofen. And then it snapped into my head - chiro! So I googled, found an English speaking chiro in downtown Tokyo, had my husband call to make an appointment (since the receptionist was not very proficient at English and my dh speaks some Japanese). Anyways, got an appointment and went in. One of my legs was nearly 1" shorter than the other. My pelvis and sacrum were totally twisted from that fall. She adjusted me. My back was still sore for a couple of days, but it wasn't that seizing sharp pain, it was more of the type of soreness you get when you overwork a muscle. Within a couple of days, though, I was pain free and fine the rest of the trip. I would have never survived that trip without an adjustment - I was seriously considering flying home early.
  16. Thank you for the toggle editing mode hint! I just ran windows updates 2 days ago, and it updated to IE 10, and enter stopped working. It was driving me nuts! Now I can enter! see! :)
  17. Barefoot/minimalist shoes. I wear them when I can and they are so much more comfortable.
  18. Cherry marmalade! It's in one of the ball canning books. I also have made my own homemade maraschino cherries. For the person who was asking, I got a nice pitter on amazon, it's one of the ones that feeds them through: http://www.amazon.com/Norpro-Deluxe-Cherry-Pitter-Suction/dp/B002HEXSWE/ref=sr_1_3?s=home-garden&ie=UTF8&qid=1371958192&sr=1-3&keywords=cherry+pitter
  19. I don't understand, from my white middle class 2-parent family perspective, ever thinking this would be an ok thing to allow with any of my children. That being said, if I were a single mom struggling to survive, my perspective would be different. I do think, however, that this girl probably was not taught basics of "strangers". My kis know not ot leave stores with others unless I specifically say it's ok, etc. And maybe the mom would of, but if I told my ds to go to McDs, he wouldn't think it was ok to go get in someone's van and I've taught him techniques to fight if someone does try to take him. As for the daycare/teacher thing. I worked in several daycares, never fingerprinted, but always background checked. They also called my references. I was also never in a room alone with a child, it wasn't allowed. When I got my teaching degree I was fingerprinted. It was a requirement to get my teaching certificate.
  20. I love the room. I wish I had a dedicated space to transform like that. Right now we're using our formal living room, and it will look more school next year, but I have to work around a baby grand in the middle of the space... Do you know what they are called? I've been trying to figure out what to use next year, but Ikea overwhelms me!
  21. I talked to my ND extensively before I flew with my family to Japan. She did not recommend this. She did recommend getting up to walk a few times, drinking plenty of water, and stretching/moving around in my seat if I couldn't get up to walk.
  22. Chiropractor. And if that doesn't work an MRI will give a better view of the joint and tissues then just an xray. I had hip pain for years, got awful when I was pregnant. My MW recommended a chiro and it was gone after 2 adjustments! My pelvis was rotated a bit out of alignment (due to sacral instability). Once that was aligned the problem was solved.
  23. You might want to just read the instructors text for WWE and read about how to do summaries/narrations. Then practice them with her using content from another area (history or science or literature readings). You also probably could find some online resources that will give you an idea of what to look for in narrations/summaries too if you don't want to buy the instructor text. At her age you can do a few narrations to help teach her how to summarize, but then she should be able to start writing her own summaries based on readings.
  24. My 8yo has a brolly sheet cover on his bed http://www.brollysheetsusa.com/ . They hold A TON. But what makes them work so well are the wings that tuck under the mattress so that it doesn't slide around at night. So when making yours I would definitely look into putting wings on it. Terry usually works well. But prewash a few times on HOT and dry on HOT before sewing together on top of the PUL. I also find that hemp material works really well (used to use it in diapers). Whatever you put on for the soaker layer, put a layer of soft cotton or flannel on top and then he can sleep right on the pad. Then you don't have to change the sheets, just the pad.
