My almost 7 yr old uses Shurley English (just grammar part), winning with writing, BJU spelling. My Ds really hates writing but really he really likes winning with writing.
I do not keep any school worksheets or writings. I do keep some art stuff but I do not consider that school stuff. My kids draw multiple pictures a day so I always keep a couple from the week. I personally keep things that will bring back fun memories for the kids like their drawings, little craft projects, etc. I honestly don't think my kids would care about seeing worksheets they did as 6yrs old years from now but I do think they would enjoy their little art & craft projects , which I would keep even if we didn't homeschool.
Our 1st grade schedule looks like this:
Math - 45 minutes
Reading (done with phonics) - 20 min.
Spelling - 10 min.
Writing - 10 min
Handwriting - 10 min
Science - 20 min
History - 20 min.
Grammar - 15 min.
Not working for me :( it asks of I am sure I want to buy the unit for $6.99. Do I click yes and then it will tell me I already own it? I just don't want to be charged for it.
My 5yr old has speech problems. She messes up a lot if sounds. She can hear the difference just not say it. She is doing great with learning phonics. I think if I waited till her speech was intelligible 100% of the time she would be ten before she learned to read. My daughter is probably bout 50% intelligible right now but for some reason she speaks so much better when she is reading out loud from a book.
My 5yr old is in the middle of her K year. So far it is going great. She is making great progress with handwriting and reading. I would like to add in some more fun stuff but not exactly sure what to add. She is using horizons k math, Abeka phonics and BJU handwriting.
Most likely we will just continue everything we are doing now but skip the writing sections in Shurley and add in Winning with writing.
