  2. Well, I will bare my soul to anybody so I can't judge my real friends based on that. I just don't do fake, even polite society fake. If you ask me how I am doing I will tell you how I really am doing and not a pat answer. Other than betrayal my feelings aren't easily hurt so I dont worry about giving people ammunition. I can freely laugh at my own faults and failures. I like who I am. I am an open book. I would say that I have 3 True friends because these 3 are the ones who always tell me like it is whether I want to really hear it or not. I have many more people that I know care for me and would help me out in a heartbeat.
  3. My oldest cannot draw and doesn't like art, but neither do I so I never have forced it. He takes piano lessons, so that is fine with me. My middle child, 7, loves art. He draws really well. My dd4 can watercolor way better than anyone I know. She stays in the lines in watercolor books with different colors for different parts. Like for a person they might have yellow hair, pink skin, and a purple dress. She has quite a talent with paints. What program would work best for them? I'd like to combine if possible. I also need something that doesn't require any skills from me, I cannot cut in a straight line even. Thanks! They have done Artisitc Pursuits k-3 book 1, Little Annie, Preschool Art and Little Hands Art book.
  4. There is very little difference in the notebooking between the 2. If you don't need alphabet stuff i would just get the 1-4.
  5. Living Books Curriculum uses this for 6th grade grammar. I will look at my guide and get back to you tonight with a schedule for it.
  6. My ped gave me a reference but at the same time told me that she thought it would correct itself once he was reading. She said to worry after he was reading fluently if it still hadn't corrected. He is just now reading at a 2nd grade level and it has corrected itself a whole lot. There are some things that are hard still. Everytime he sees "s" he wants to make it "sh" just with his speech problem and also "t" at the end wants to become "tch" This is where I decided to go and help correct the final problem. I have a hard time everytime he reads the word bit not reacting. His w,f,l and r has all corrected on their own.
  7. My oldest was like that at 5. I think if you refuse to play with him all day after he acts like a bad sport, he will learn to be more graceful about losing. If my oldest son tried to cheat or cried about losing, I immediately folded up the board and put it away. If other kids are playing you could immediately have your 5yo quit and go sit in another room until you are done.
  8. I love the idea of no TV during the week and plan to implement that soon, but since your dh really loves movies I wouldn't do it. My soon to be ex dh always watches Tv and it would be impossible to not have it on after school hours.
  9. I lost 30 lbs the first month. What helped me the most was staying busy. I ate more and drank more when I kept moving because I didn't have time to sit there and think. DO have heavy spring cleaning, organize those bookshelves in ABC or subject order, or clean out closets. It helped me doing all those things instead of sitting around thinking about it. :grouphug: It is a long, hard process.
  10. Well, I only have a problem if you go against your beliefs. But I guess in your case teach them both and let them choose.
  11. When your whole world is knocked upside down and you can barely breathe it is super hard to have polite discussions about the weather. It consumes you, the pain, til you feel like you're drowning. Sharing helps relieve some of the pressure. Sharing helps you come to grips with the fact that this is really happening now, it is not going to just go away if you don't tell people.
  12. I have a problem with Christians who believe in Young Earth Creation views teaching their kids secular science books that teach Evolution as Fact. I try to be careful to use nice words. If you believe in Evolution by all means teach it, but if you don't believe it then why teach your kids false things?
  13. In 2nd grade we went to a room for Math/Science, another room for LA and reading, and a third room for Social Studies. We also had Music/art/PE in seperate rooms. I went to a great Elementary, I would send mine there if we still lived in Texas. I remember in 2nd grade they had reading stations that allowed all the kids to read at their own level. They had to pull books from the 6th grade classroom for me. The fact that it was done and wasn't a big deal is what I wish we still had today.
  14. My ds11 loves Zane Grey, Westerns. He borrowed one from his Grandpa last summer and asks to use his allowance to buy more. I think it's wierd.
  15. Most of the stuff at the convention I went to last year had to be mailed to me, but they did ship it for free.
  16. Starting this new school year we only have to submit attendance at the end of the year, no longer monthly. :) Super easy!
  17. I really like the way SCM plans their CM day. http://simplycharlottemason.com/planning/weekly/typicalweek/ and http://simplycharlottemason.com/planning/daily/blockdetdaily/
  18. I ordered all our stuff from WP this year. I had ordered CATW 2 years ago and had major shipping problems, but nothing to get upset about. Keep the first shipping list that is more a bill, and then check off items as you receive them. I am expecting HIH, AW, LA7, LA3 and QMA. I have gotten pieces of all of them, but not a complete set yet. I ordered 4 weeks ago. I am not starting school til August. I didn't feel like messing with piecing it together myself. I called on Monday and Don is always super friendly. He is very appreciative of customers who are patient. I simply let them know that I wanted to start HIH in June and I am missing 2 books from that. He said he will make sure I get them this week. I am also missing 2 books from AW, but he let me know that they were waiting on Dover. I am fine with that, but I will call again in July if I don't have them. I also have a list of missing books from the others. I like the idea of E-books. I know you can't resell officially, but the pdf are still yours to do what you wish. You can print them. They are also including a discount form to have it printed at Staples. I put the guides on my Kindle so I can pull it up during school and walk around easier than handling the amount of paper in the printed version. They are somewhat choppy, but it can be easily smoothed over. I also feel like you can choose not to do the stupid paper crafts and focus on the bigger ones. CATW crafts included having a Guy Fawkes Day bonfire with dolls, blowing up a wooden snowman, having tea, visiting a nursing home and more. We ate special meals for every country we visited too. I chose WP over SL, HOD or LBC because I like the plans and the books they chose better. HOD has way more pointless paper crafts IMO.
  19. Thanks, I am an Hour away or less from at least 8 good size hospitals. So I hope I will not have a problem. I do plan to work 2 or 3 12s.
  20. Wow thanks. I do have a lawyer. The state calculated child support for me would be $1100 a month. I also get half his retirement in chunks, it totals $50,000 before taxes. I am not sure how often or how much the payments would amount to, but I think I can push to receive it all upfront according to my lawyer. I am also requesting he pay off my car. He brings home $1800, so I cannot see how to ask for him to pay part of the mortgage as well. Our mortgage is $950. My nursing classes will be 7am-4pm on T/W and Clinicals on Sat or Sun for 12 hour shifts. My parents do not pay for my school, I receive a combo of financial aid and scholarships. I definitely will not be picking up another husband before a few years are up. There is an apartment complex not too far that is only for single moms. A friend lives there in a 3Bed for $400 a month.
  21. I couldn't hear it so I thought it must be a joke. I called ds7 over to play it again, he says it sounds like a car wreck or a whistle. I just LOL at that.
  22. I voted within the last week. I see men in them all the time in rural Georgia. I saw a couple on my drive to Tennessee this morning.
