We live in the same area. She is such a light. Life is not effing fair. -
I make quilts that look like art but I wash them in hot water dry them and drage them around concrete/grass etc. It just depends how they are made. Commercially though Pottery Barn has nice quilts. They are not outrageous for what you get. Here

what is up with the PMs? The messenger isn't working?
justLisa replied to justLisa's topic in The Chat Board
ok I see a post about it on the site news or whatever it's called. -
I need to message several people back about sending me something but I can't. And I don't necessarily want to put my email out their publicly. Help?
-
Well I would miss you but I just saw you! Hello everyone *waaaaving*
-
No. You should move over the mountains and *I* will watch them all :D And then we can be IRL friends
-
I thought you said she was there for almost 4.5 years. You are clearly not telling the same story twice. Before you stir things up for response you may want to work out the details and remember them
-
Hmm very interesting renmew. So were you the "un" pretty one growing up? How did that make you feel? Your daughter was in the same care for 4.5 years, and complemented on her pretty hair often. Did you want her to know what you went through? So you tried to give her an ugly hair cut because she got the attention you wanted as a child? Maybe you should talk about it. And what if she grows up to be a make up artist, or a cosmetologist, or a plastic surgeon? A career that is centered around beauty? I hope you at least donated all of that gorgeous hair. There are people who would

Aside from the first post in this thread, that is the most disturbing t hing I"ve read in a while. 5 weeks old and she was already trouble? Yikes.
-
That and a Big Bang episode :D
-
Even though I'm not online much lately I still get email notification when I get a message so feel free to PM me anytime
-
SOrry thatI haven't been checking here. I just wanted to say a quick tip for mailing if you don't have any special envelopes. Just fold it up in a ziplock and put it in a regular envelope. I"ll press everything fresh before sewing :) If sending one block you sould be ok with just one stamp, maybe one first class and one secondary. Thank you everyone for everything you have given, time and fund wise for this special project. You are all some awesome ladies :D

Please no one have a heart attack or die of other causes! Whatever you do with it is fine.
-
I will say NO. However, I am tolerant of pre-washed fabric :D
-
PS I wash with a color catcher and have never had a problem
-
Don't pre wash! I say this with confidence

I'm tring to keep up with messaging but I have been on an internet break except for this, however I DO get notification when I get a PM. If anyone wants to send a hug, a note, anything but don't sew, absolutely do that! I plan to get everything together and make one big package. A few have stated they do not sew but will be writing a card, or something else. If you write, draw, paint, etc anything will be so loved.

You are practically my neighbor!
-
Pm'd you!
-
I'll send you the address. And yes, JUST a (finished at 9") 9.5 inch block :)
-
I'll send you my addy! And anyone else just pm me if you need it.....I posted it on the fb page too
-
THAT is a great idea. Or another thing, use a 6ish inch square and then I"ll embroider and add sashing to the square to help tie in with the color scheme. Thanks Brandy, this is a wonderful idea. ((Astrid))
-
It can be any quilt block (finished) at 9" You can do something as simple as a 4 patch. Which would be (4) 5" blocks stitched together 2 on top 2 on bottom alternating colors. Keeping a 1/4" seam, that makes a block that is 9.5." The half inch is so when they are all sewn together the blocks are each 9" finished. Or you can cut a 9.5 inch square and embroider something.....basically anything that is 9.5." Quilt blocks are kind of standard sizes but if you google quilt blocks 9 inch you get tons of pictures and patterns

I'm not online much so someone can message me, but I can contribute. I don't know if you meant having a quilt shop actually do the quilting? Depending on when I can help with that....er, do the quilting. With 9 inch finished blocks you need about 35-42 for a good sized throw. I have a large stash of those colors and enough yardage for a backing, and I buy Warm and White cotton batting by the bolt. I can do decorative quilting and put everything together with sashing/borders if necessary to tie in the colors. Unless someone else is already planning to do this.....I can still make blocks
