  1. My son took ballet for a couple of years when he was ages 3-5. He loved it and he did it for as long as he enjoyed.  Yes, we received our fair share of comments. My response was "He is happy".  DH's response was a bit longer. It started with he is happy. Then he went on to educate the naysayers (people concerned about our 3 year olds sexuality) with the names of athletes who take ballet. With a healthy dose of I should be so lucky my son is the next Baryshnikov.

  2. We held a graduation party for dd this past Sunday. This is it. It's a wrap. She has a few more philosophy classes, and one other subject to finish her final paper but I am not involved in either of those classes.

I am starting my next chapter after graduating 2 from homeschool high school to college. I didn't think I could do it but this group offered tremendous help and support on our journey.

  3. Other. I think they have their place. I have a few oils that I use for various things. Cleaning/skin care. However, I detest when mlm people insist that they cure everything from a zit to cancer.

  4. After much ado about which school to choose. A decision has been made and the deposit paid.

DD will be attending Goucher College

Why? Because she felt at home on the campus and really connected with the students and professors she met and the swim coach.

Major: Psychology. Who knows what it will be once she has a year of classes under her belt.

  5. I was never successful getting a teenager thing going. Based on my experience the teens don't want anything to do with the preteens. I wish you success in your endeavor.

In my area the teens were few and far between. Most went back to school for high school. The ones who were left, my teens didn't connect with. At one point they refused to go to anything because it was always overrun with younger kids. They were tired of being the oldest. Once they hit high school 13 year olds were in the young kid category.

We ended up doing our own thing with a couple of friends through the high school years.

  6. We are getting closer to a decision. To her surprise she decided that the school her brother attends (McDaniel) had a lot to offer her when she went to visit him and attend admitted student day. Last night she told me she is now thinking Goucher is where she is meant to be. She has a couple of questions that she will reach out to get answers for and will hopefully be ready to commit soon.

  7. This has not gotten any easier. I was ready to tell her to pick Clark. But she got back from school number 4 a couple of days ago and I heard a level of excitement that I had not heard when she toured the other schools.

We told her without thinking about it-which school would she drop if she had to drop on right now. She nixed Albright. Even though she likes the school and they gave her the most money the area is still very depressed.

This leaves her with Clark, Susquehanna, and Goucher. Susquehanna- cost the most. Clark-is really the best academic overall and she liked the people she met but the swim coach did not leave her with the warm and fuzzies. Goucher-also an excellent school and she really liked the coach and the swimmers she met. Since her brother is also attending school in Maryland - Goucher moves up on the convenience to the parents pro list. But. Not our decision.

  8. There should be a magic pill.

I am not a fan of the mlm people pushing their weight loss products.

Need to lose weight? There's an oil for that.

Summers coming-beach body (news flash- every body is a beach body/

Keto-you need to buy my keto productsbfor weight loss.

So annoying. Bottom line is- the secret to weight loss- count your calories and eat mostly plants.

  9. Is it wrong that I am glad that I am not the only one with a child who can't decide. Misery does love company.

I think in her gut she wants Susquehanna. But out of the 3 it is the most expensive. Even though they did come back with more aid when we asked it is still more than Clark and Albright. My dh is telling her not to worry about the money and I am like whoa, dude, money is a factor.

  10. My DD just got home from accepted student day at Clark. She has now attended 3 out of the 4 top contenders.

Each one has something to offer and price wise they are all in the same range.

There are things she likes and dislikes about all of them. I don't know why this seemed easier when my son was going through this decision making process.

  11. I apologize for not keeping up with this thread. I received a PM stating that this hadn't been done in the past and was, essentially, a waste of time.

I let it get to me, even though I know for a fact it has been done for at least the past 5 years or so, and chose to stop updating. It was probably a bit passive-aggressive on my part and I beg forgiveness. Thank you, Mark, for updating.

If there are any updates that are not listed, please post or message me and I will update immediately.

Congratulations to those with new admissions and scholarships.

Who would send such a negative message. I am sorry someone made you feel like you were wasting your time. I happen to like the college acceptance threads. I find it inspiring to see where everyone gets accepted.

  12. I fold them to stack at the bottom of the garbage cans in the bathrooms and the kids rooms. That way, when I take out the garbage the next bag is ready and waiting.

The rest of them get smooshed into a dispenser. Or gathered into one bag that I eventually return to the store for recycling.
