  1. Here are a few we have liked recently: https://www.thecookierookie.com/melt-in-your-mouth-caesar-chicken/ https://www.chiselandfork.com/mongolian-pork/ https://www.blueapron.com/recipes/ancho-honey-chicken-fajitas-with-roasted-vegetables-avocado
  2. I would consider an iron infusion or a liquid supplement at those numbers. I take the Megafood Blood Builders and they have been the best for me in terms of bringing up my ferritin with the fewest side effects. I take a lot of Vit C as well to help my body absorb it.
  3. So while my hemoglobin was never low, my ferritin would drop into the teens. My Dr said she prefers ferritin above 40 because below that it can cause reactive problems in other lab work, plus I felt better and my hair stopped falling out. After a lot of experimenting, my favorite iron pill is MegaFood blood builders, plus I take extra Vit C. It has given me the best results with the fewest GI issues. I tried iron IV in the past, but it made me feel sick.
  4. Have you tried Queasy Drops? You can get them on Amazon. They work for pregnancy and chemo patients. Also Nauzene is good, but harder to find during Covid. CVS makes a generic.
  5. I just looked at a few organic websites and they had supply they could ship. I use Baby's Only for my youngest from about 3 to 24 months to supplement breastfeeding. It is more expensive, but they will ship you a case.
  6. Queasy Drops - are great for nausea. You can find them on Amazon, etc. I like electrolyte drinks like Body Armor to combat the dehydration from chemo. An electric blanket if they don't own one. Maybe a gift certificate for audio books or podcast to help pass the time and a good set of headphones.
  7. So my dd has both a bee venom allergy and alpha-gal (the tick borne allergy to mammal meat). Both of these can cause anaphylaxis. She has to be very careful with animal byproducts such as gelatin, glycerin, etc. She got the Pfizer vaccine a week ago and did good. She stayed there for 30 ninutes after the shot and then we watched her for the 8-12 hour window for alpha gal reaction. She did take her normal antihistamines the day of her shot.
  8. So early this spring my dd was diagnosed with asthma, IBS, and POTS within a few months. The GI issues were bad with spontaneous vomiting. This fall she was diagnosed with Alpga-Gal, the tick borne meat allergy. However, in addition to mammal meat, she has to avoid all mammal byproducts which are in everything. Eating meat triggers her anaphylaxis, but by products will trigger her GI issues or asthma. So she avoids tallow, whey, rennet, gelatin, etc. Additionally, by products are in lots of health products and medicine. So we watch for glycerin, lanolin, and magnesium stearate. It almost sounds like he has severe allergies and a blood disorder which could cause problems with clotting and his bone marrow. But those should be able to be diagnosed with various blood tests or possibly a bone marrow biopsy.
  9. In addition to changing out her pillows, my DS allergist had her take a nightly antihistamine. DS was waking up every morning very congested and recurring sinus infections. We had to try Claritin, Zyrtec, and finally settled on Allegra as the best one for her.
  10. So it looks like Alabama still has no cases. However, there are 2 cases on Redstone Arsenal. DH works there and someone showed him an email.
  11. DD was accepted to UAH last week and will study animation. After spending 12 months evaluating colleges this was a last minute change. But she got a merit scholarship which is nice.
  12. So I don't have any answers to the cause but have you tried Colgate Peroxyl? It is helps with mouth sores and ulcers. Maybe it will give her a little relief.
  13. So we do this every year when our options are available... I add up the total premium and out of pocket max to see which one is the cheapest overall. For your 2 examples the $500 a month one is around $480 a year cheaper overall. We always max out our deductible every year due to my health conditions. I basically only see specialists and take expensive medicine - lucky me. I wish healthcare were a more affordable option for everyone .
  14. I love https://www.myscenicdrives.com. I use it to plan our long RV road trips. You can adjust your daily drive time or mileage and it creates your stops. Plus you can calculate your gas costs.
  15. Babys Only makes whey based formula. For my 2 that were super colicky I gave them probiotics and gripe water after every nursing or bottle. It helped.
  16. So a lot of thing can cause white cells to temporarily be high such as inflammation. reaction to drugs, infection, virus, arthritis, even stress. Mine were slightly high during my last 2 pregnancies, but after the last one we discovered I have a blood cancer so..... How high is very high? Is all her other bloodwork normal? Usually under 20k-ish drs start with one of the reasons I listed. Once they are above that you might be looking at some kind of leukemia, blood cancer, or severe infection.
  17. This is happening everywhere. Affordable venues are very hard to find. If they are affordable there is usually a reason. I live near a large town that is very popular and brides get sticker shock when they find out how much some of the churches and venues cost.....and they are booked up a year or more in advance.
  18. This is what I hear a lot. Most of my brides do some DIY but on wedding day they want to be able to relax. I know I spend 12 - 14 hours running around on wedding day. I can't imagine doing that when my own daughters get married. It's exhausting. My own wedding was around $5k and I've helped family members pull together weddings for around $3k but they had dozens of people fromay church to help. If you don't have a small army of family or friends, you have to pay someone.
  19. So full disclosure I run my own event planning company so I get to see this from both sides. The average cost is just that average. Most couples probably spend under $10k. A great website is http://www.costofwedding.com. You can search for the costs in your area and what each category is costing. Personally I find that venues are one of the most important decision in regards to budget. That one decision impacts many other expenses. The second factor is the guest count. 300 guests cost a lot more than 80. If brides want their wedding to look like many of those published on the wedding blogs and Pinterest, they end up spending more. However, I have worked with many brides who had lovely weddings for much, much less.
  20. I have blood work done every 4 months (for other health reasons) and my dr checks either my ferritin or a full iron panel most times. I take iron supplements regularly. My dr is happy if my ferritin is above 50. However, I have read that optimally women should have their ferritin close to 100.
  21. My husband and I have been talking about the suggested cuts to the budget. The cuts to medical research worry me personally. My husband is concerned that pieces of our history like the Smithsonian could be changed. However the government is not very efficient at running anything. Our defense budget is huge. But, in some sections of our military they only have 25% of their equipment/tanks/aircraft operational due to lack of parts, etc. Throwing more money at that problem probably won't fix it. I would like to see our veterans cared for, but again more money can't fix a bloated system full of red tape. I'm scared of what the government would do to volunteer programs. I would honestly love to see someone be able to change our system into something efficient and beneficial to more people. I honestly don't care which party fixes it. Right now they both just seem to run in opposite directions from the other without bothering to figure out a solution. Don't get me started on the billions we waste in governement earmarks and subsidies to corporations.
  22. I'm am sorry that you are having so many problems. I finally got a diagnosis in 2015 after years of weird symptoms and brush offs from drs. At least I know I'm not crazy, but unfortunately there is no cure. So ferritin is sometimes a separate lab from an iron panel. At least it is through my dr. I still take iron pills multiple times a week to keep it from falling again.
  23. I had low ferritin last year but all my other numbers were fine. Is it possible your ferritin is low?
