  1. We’re in a slightly different situation, but I’m going to mention this just in case it applies. We are currently in the process of buying a second home( condo in college town where dd will live with a roommate),which is mortgaged the same as a vacation home, and a specific thing we had to sign and verify was that we would not be using a property management company. I think it’s because investment property is a different mortgage than second home/vacation. YMMV
  2. To me, the main difference is that Costco is way more oriented towards organic foods. If your family eats mostly organic, you won’t find as much at Sams. Otherwise, they are very similar. If you feel ok with the Covid risk, they will let you come in and look around without a membership- you just tell the person at the door you are thinking of buying one.
  3. https://www.budgetbytes.com/ is a recipe site I have recently discovered. She just did a no yeast pizza dough recipe. I haven't tried it yet, but everything else we have made from there has been delicious!
  4. We saw my parents yesterday. It was ds 18th birthday and they came for lunch and cake. We had a deck picnic with our household on the top deck and the two of them on a smaller lower deck, with their own table and disposable dinnerware. We probably were about 12 feet apart the whole time and they never came insde the house. We could see each other and talk while we ate. It was so nice to see them and really brightened ds quarantine bday. Biggest risk was probably the birthday card they gave him, but he washed his hands after opening.
  5. It's only $10 here ( deep South).
  6. My daughter's campus also has Amazon lockers at the student center for packages from Amazon. Maybe that is an option?
  7. I vote commando. One of my boys always hated the mesh part so much, we would have to cut it out before he would swim.
  8. My DD is the same size and has found bra sized bikini tops at Target that have been great. She did have to try on a lot to find a winner, but the price was under $20.
  9. Our female cat had blood in her urine which we discovered because she began peeing in our white bathroom sink. She never acted sick at all. We took her in the next day and it was a kidney stone. She was treated with antibiotics and I think a steroid shot( it's been a couple of years). They offered a choice of surgery to remove or trying a special prescription food that sometimes dissolves the stones. We tried the food and it worked! She is on it as her regular diet from now on. I would think Maggie could wait overnight unless things get worse. Hope she feels better soon!
  10. Dd was bitten by a coot while volunteering at a wildlife center. They are very uncommon in our area. Several weeks later dd became sick with some unusual symptoms, and in the long process of looking for a diagnosis, our poor pediatrician and the infectious disease people had to do all kinds of research to see if coots carry any unusual diseases (they don't). 😂
  11. Maybe in the store? It definitely didn't take it online.
  12. Thank you all! I used the one for 20% off and saved $14.
  13. I was getting ready to order online only to realize my coupon expired last week. If you have one sitting around that you won't be using, would you please pm me the code? The website wants the MO code. On mine, it is located above the bar code. Thanks!
  14. I don't know anything about hedgehogs. I know about allowing 17 y/o to get a pet. The 17 y/o goes away to college and then YOU have a pet. Signed, the lady who has to feed snakes and other reptiles because I didn't say no.
  15. We always told our kids that, in addition to helping themselves stay well, they were helping protect other kids who were too sick to be vaccinated. It seemed to help them be brave, to know they were doing a good deed for kids with cancer, allergies, and other problems that precluded vaccnes.
  16. I had a small dent from an antibiotic injection in the front of my thigh. It went away eventually, probably in the ballpark of several months to a year.
  17. I think you mentioned Crohn's earlier in the thread and I wanted to say that my ex SIL had anemia for at least a couple of years in high school before they diagnosed her Crohn's. It was related but Crohn's wasn't a common diagnosis back then. ( Hers was diagnosed when surgery for appendicitis turned out not to be appendicitis.)
  18. Thanks so much!! This is for a public school algebra 1 class study sheet to prepare for the final. No answers were provided( not helpful for studying) and ds is pretty sure they didn't cover this in class. And they have no textbooks.
  19. I can usually solve these, but this has me stuck: y= -2x^2 + 8x -3 ( negative 2x squared plus 8x minus 3) Thanks for any help you can give- please show me the steps if possible.
  20. It probably wouldn't matter for your project, but our experience with BIC permanent markers was that they aren't as permanent as Sharpies. Specifically, my dd and friends used them to autograph each others' tshirts, and the ink ran when washed. It doesn't look like your project would have that risk, since I'm guessing it isnt washable anyway. Very cute!
  21. For Saturday, I would start early and do Pepper Place Market. It has vegetables, flowers, and local art set up outdoors with a cool urban vibe. Nearby is Sloss Furnaces where you can take a tour on Saturdays. If they are doing an iron pour event when you are there, don't miss it. On one of your other days, the Civil Rights Museum and/or Birmingham Museum of Art. They are pretty close to each other. Birmingham has a ghost tour that is supposed to be good. Vulcan is the huge statue you can see from most of the city. It has tours and you can go in the top for a nice view of town. I think your kids are too old to enjoy McWane Center. It is an awesome science center, but a little more geared for younger kids. They do have an IMAX theater there. What kind of things are you interested in?
  22. Just remembered this from when DH fell- The ambulance people removed his watch and wedding band. It was returned to me by one of them the next day (not by a nurse or ER worker). We hadn't even missed it in all the excitement. If your mil wears jewelry, check to be sure she still has it.
  23. Praying. Something similar happened to DH-he fell down the stairs, was transported to hospital by ambulance, and had a tiny bleed. He turned out fine. No surgery required and able to go home after a couple of days. With the blood thinners, they will keep an extra close eye on your mil. Best of wishes to her for a speedy recovery.
  24. Consider this website: https://classyyettrendy.com/the-workwear-capsule-wardrobe-spring-2018-collection/ Every season, she releases an ebook with a few items that will build a complete work wardrobe. All the pieces work together and subsequent seasons will re use many of the items she already has. Also, if she says to buy a black top, she will give options of specific ones to buy in various price categories and they will all be from national chain stores. I haven't used the work wear capsule, but I love the regular outfits.
