  1. At the risk of sounding like a broken record – or should that be a download glitch? :P – without forming a fully realistic budget, getting a second job may not be the answer. It would be too easy for the additional income to be spent routinely, and not saved when times are flush.
  2. Sorry if I am not following, but this doesn't sound like the right approach to me. I assume that the YNAB mentioned earlier addresses this --- you need to figure out your budget first. Guessing at your income sounds extremely problematic to me. With a sound (and absolute minimum) budget, you can then save "excess" income until you have enough held in order to do other things, such as pay off debts, etc. If you have big interest payments, though, I assume that YNAB might push you towards paying those debts down ASAP.
  3. I agree with Ottakee. I don’t have any direct experience with this so my thoughts are just theoretical. However, I would figure out your budget very carefully, and, as PP said, have a “living fundâ€. When your income was above average, the “excess†would go into the living fund account. Then, only when the living fund that sufficient money to cover your historical worst-case dry periods would I move money to a, say, “discretionary†fund for spending on things that aren’t absolutely needed.
  4. Personally, I don't find it hard at all. A quote from the article: "The fundamental problem is that the last four terms (fraction of planets with life, odds life becomes intelligent, odds intelligent life becomes detectable, and detectable lifetime of civilizations) are completely unknown." [emphasis added]
  5. Does a Facebook Group allow you to do temporary moderation? I know for LinkedIn, there are options where a person's first number of postings (or it may be timed based) require approval, but then they switch over to a regular poster. This helps --- to a degree --- with the workload. If the person later proves difficult, you could put them back into moderation. ETA: moderating ALL postings is a PITA!
  6. The rebinding solutions are probably ideal. If you want something quick and dirty, and have a laminating machine, I would seal the loose covers and then connect to the books in some fashion, possibly only a couple of holes would do it. Another possibility would be using sheet protectors, especially if the holes match up.
  7. Amazon is offering a free trial (not sure if it a good value after the trial is over, though): http://www.amazon.com/Audible-Free-Trial-Digital-Membership/dp/B00NB86OYE/
  8. My guess is that you don't know what circuit these wires might be on. If you don't have a tester to check if there is any current in the wires, you could use wire "caps" on the exposed wires. If you don't have any of those and don't want to buy some, use tape (ideally, electrical) to keep the wires from touching each other or anything else. Then, it sounds like you'll have to call an electrician! As an aside, a loose wire shouldn't be likely. If it was properly attached to something, it ought to have taken tremendous force to rip it from away from the connection. So, just at a guess, I wondering if there was an "extra" wire that they just left behind. It could still be "hot", though.
  9. I've never seen or heard of electrical wires running inside ducts; that definitely wouldn't be "code". Can you upload a picture? I'm wondering if they might be low voltage wires, such as for a door bell, etc. Also, do you have any fans in any of your duct work to boost the airflow to specific rooms?
  10. I finished it, but didn't think it was all that good. I didn't try to analyze it, though.
  11. If you want to use regular MS Excel (etc.) applications as opposed to online versions, the only thing you want to avoid is a chromebook. They do run some APPs but you can't install a Microsoft program on them.
  12. Around us, there are Facebook groups that handle posts for lost pets. You could check if you have something similar.
  13. If you're still looking, there is a Brother laser printer, "Brother MFC9130CW Wireless All-In-One Printer with Scanner, Copier and Fax", that is normally about $300 for $260: http://www.amazon.com/dp/B00C6MNP52/ref=gb1h_tit_c-2_0062_71b1dbd0?smid=ATVPDKIKX0DER&pf_rd_m=ATVPDKIKX0DER&pf_rd_t=701&pf_rd_s=center-new-2&pf_rd_r=0D4WVM1RF8F5MJSY4Y0A&pf_rd_i=20&pf_rd_p=2055170062
  14. If you still don’t think you did enough, consider that the man could have had a gun, and things could have gone extremely badly for you.
  15. I don't know if a wood burning stove would be different, but we have a gas fire place vented to the outside just via the basement wall (the vent outside is a few feet above ground level).
  16. What!? Do you know what I do to people who invent more house maintenance tasks for me!?
  17. Six years old! That furnace would have to be a 'lemon' to require an expense repair so soon!
  18. Can I do a set? "He who hesitates is lost" BUT "All things come to those who wait"
  19. If, again, you can't really afford $680, I'd wait on a second opinion before deciding. Assuming, of course, that it wouldn't be very expensive to get it --- some places charge a hefty fee just to come out.
  20. Do you know anyone (else) that loves to argue? You could bring them along, and let the two of them have at it. :boxing_smiley:
  21. You can also buy different sized sheets, but unless you are laminating a lot of cards, it may not be worth it.
  22. Same as Susan. Usually, we had to choose between only a few, none of which were close to ideal.
