  1. What part of it don't you follow?
  2. Sorry about your problems. I hope you don’t get distracted by junk science, though.
  3. I saw this earlier today. I figured it out easily enough, but I did have an advantage in that I have a somewhat similar type of problem in the form of a cartoon about beer drinking. ETA: Needless to say, beer drinking problems are inherently more interesting.
  4. I thought it would eventually go back to whoever made it and started the process.
  5. Not an expert, but I think the recipient is supposed to do "something" with the Flat Stanley, such as take a photo of it in an interesting, local, spot, and send it on to someone else. So, another country might be more interesting, but it would cost more and take longer.
  6. I am wondering, though, if he will ever start using a red costume (I'm at episode 4).
  7. Just in terms of budget, note that often the excursions aren't included in the base price, and can add up to a huge amount.
  8. I think you should hire plansme to talk to the parents. (cf. http://forums.welltrainedmind.com/topic/548355-what-are-your-unusual-talents/?p=6295124 ) :)
  9. I used to write fiction (not published), but more recently, I've been watching too many NetFlix streaming.
  10. Just curious --- do you have a particular technique, or is it some innate personality trait?
  11. It doesn't sound like Asimov to me; more likely Heinlein, although it doesn't sound as if you are confident about the authorship.
  12. OK. When you talked about "obligations", I thought you were making a larger point.
  13. No, it wasn't. When someone writes "... and what you are generally up to" it wouldn't occur to me that they are talking about filing a tax return. How does that tell the government what I am up to?
  14. Also, there have been studies that showed a substantial percent of the time, the answers the IRS give out are wrong!
  15. I was actually thinking of catnip! :willy_nilly:
  16. Some people do, illogically, view it as a kind of bonus or savings. However, it can be hard to correctly estimate in advance your total tax liability and have the exact right amount of withholding taken out. For example, just one stock transition could mean the difference between owing versus receiving money back.
  17. You know that you are perpetrating the stereotype that cats are lazy, don't you?
  18. I don’t have anything to contribute to this topic except that I am strangely gratified to see that WTM forum has appropriately warned me that this thread is HOT. :smilielol5:
  19. Even before Michelle posted, it occurred to me that there was an aspect of being alienated involved. I think it is more complex than that any one emotion or condition. It probably needs its own term.
  20. This doesn’t fully capture it, but “cognitive dissonance†comes to mind because I see it as trying to hold two contradictory ideas / feelings at the same time: the desolation you are feeling versus the ‘life as usual’ that the rest of world is feeling.
  21. :iagree: Yes to the "boring" --- I'd much rather be doing algebra or calculus.
  22. What kind of storage do you have for the food? That will affect what would be convenient to have.
