  1. Can you tell me why folks do this class instead of the one through AOPS? How will I ever keep up with all of the world's offerings for homeschoolers? lol
  2. I use CLE math for one of my kids and I have Singapore Math 70 Must Know Word Problems Level 3 for Grade 4 students retail 12.99. Price $8 ppd if you'd be interested. Very helpful to my struggling math student. I have Zaccaro too I think. Both are like new.
  3. We switched one of my kids from R&S to CLE and we love CLE. No looking back for us! I love the way it reviews more than anything. And that it is written to the student. My dd can do it almost independently now. She is using Algebra 1 now and used R&S through 4 I think.
  4. Can you post a link to the WTM Aops fall class. I didn't know there was one for wtm. Thanks!
  5. Thanks all. I had him take the placement tests and he def needs to do the prealg class. I think I'll order it and have him start it and then decide if we should do the online class. I hear the pace is fast. That is the only thing that concerns me with the online class. But maybe he needs the challenge.
  6. I'll have ds take the AOPS placement test today for Algebra. But I wondered if you all moved to it or to Pre-algebra from MM. Thanks for any input.
  7. I'd be very grateful if your approach was on my behalf. My child, age 10, steals friends' food to get what they have. Besides, isn't it loving your neighbor to consider them more highly than ourselves? Parents don't expect this, but they sure are grateful for it!
  8. Same here. We did an IgG and found out is was a dairy and egg sensitivity. If he gets a miniscule amount of these, he wets. Age 10 now. On the Pullups site, dairy is listed as the #1 cause of bedwetting!
  9. Sorry to bump an old post, but what will you use for Geometry as it doesn't seem to be available on Greene? thx
  10. We've done well with CLE Alg 1. But now it is time to find a Geometry. For those who have found one they like as much as CLE, which one was it? THANKS! I am desperate!
  11. We did a three month diet following the one in the book Healing the Symptoms Known as Autism. We didn't eat anything from a can, no soy/gluten/dairy/sugar/preservatives/dyes. It was hard but worthwhile to us. Edited to say book is free on pdf: http://www.healingthesymptomsknownasautism.com/Healing_the_Symptoms_Known_as_Autism_SECOND_EDITION_9780989289023s.pdf Since then we eat sugar very sparingly, mostly subbing honey, and still skip the rest except sparing use of organic european (if possible) dairy. We've also begun eating diatomaceous earth daily according to this site: http://www.theprairiehomestead.com/2014/01/diatomaceous-earth-homestead.htmland I think we will be doing that for life. My friend brought her chiropractor's ionic foot bath and I used that. I wish I could afford one for regular use. In that line of thinking, I need to order some living clay and begin using it too. Following foodbabe on fb has been enlightening! HTH!
  12. My initial response to the subject line is a beach. We had one once as our yard and I miss it desperately. C'est la vie. We love our rope swings and zip line, hammock, fire pit, and woods. Dh is building a pond and garden boxes that self water from the rain water like earth boxes. It was once the worst yard ever, but dh has put much effort into it! We put in sod and are loving that soft grass.
  13. I think if they had to pay for toys, video games, etc, then maybe most kids would decide chores were worthwhile! But we haven't done this system personally.
  14. My thinking exactly! Here's my predicament. We run a consignment sale. So we buy items at yard sales and thrift stores to sell at the sale. If my teenage daughter likes items she sees at thrift stores, we've always bought them, thinking we'd make money on them anyway when we sell them at our sale. But, now that she is in jr sizes, her items don't sell as well. And, I think I've given her the mentality that if she sees something and likes it, she can have it. She has an absurd amount of really cute clothes. I want to move to a system that encourages her (and us all) to really think about needs and costs and budgets. I just haven't decided my plan yet. Any ideas?
  15. I bet you are right! I read a bunch of love and logic stuff last year. Thx for the direction!
  16. We use todayschores.com for this and I like it ok. I'm trying to think through giving a clothes allowance to at least one of my kids and having them be responsible for their own clothing expenses. But I remember thinking the book seemed so interesting. And I really want to read it but simply can't remember more.
  17. I think I heard about it when taking a Dave Ramsey class, but I am fairly certain he didn't write it or sell it.
  18. Can you tell me about it? How much did you decrease in your house payment? Did you need to do lots of work in the new-to-you house? Did you resent the whole ordeal or was it freeing? How did your kids handle it? What benefits have you experienced? etc... Convince me! I feel like we need to get rid of our mortgage if we can. But it would mean giving up a lot. It's a hard bullet to bite! Thanks for any input.
  19. I recall hearing about a book wherein the parents gave their children enough money for everything, including clothing and rent. The child then had to budget the money and pay his own way. Do you know the one I am talking about? I think the parents even used their method with their young children, like 7 and up (whether or not we agree - haha.) Any idea of the title? Thanks.
  20. And have you heard of zaycon? It is not organic, but I believe is better than the meat at the grocery store that is regular label. I asked a bunch of friends to all ask them to come to our area, and asked our church if we could use the parking lot as the drop site. It worked out and is perfect. I just get beef and chicken from them, not the meals. https://www.zayconfoods.com/refer/zf54098
  21. Also, if you can get azurestandard to come to your area, they have been a great source for me. They began coming to my area soon after I asked! And breadbeckers does a drop to my area too.
  22. Call and ask. We went October 2013 and we got the discount as did all of our kids, but we had to each sign up separately with two of our kids.
