  1. I am glad that he values saving energy. I would definitely ask my adult children to not leave a room with lights on and I expect they will always roll eyes at me for it. I also wouldn’t leave a car idle. Our car actually turns off at stop lights to reduce emissions. I doubt it is enough to actually save much money but if everyone could just do a little we could have cleaner air. It must be hard to have to adjust to living with him again, and parent relationships can also feel tricky at times. I hope new options will come soon. Hang in there.
  2. My part of Ohio smells smoky again. I’m not sure if that is the remnants of every firework all the time or winds from Canada. I just looked and air quality is 63, so much better than the nearly 200 last week.
  3. Lego table and toy shelf for your youngest since it sounds like this room is off the kitchen.
  4. I read Understood Betsy yesterday for the first time, and I agree with you. Maybe if I read it as a child, I would have enjoyed it more. It just seems like a pale imitation of Eight Cousins by LM Alcott, which I did like as a child.

It does seem like a weird question but I know the board has had some technical issues at times. I had a problem with account login before.
  6. He sounds like an amazing dog. I’m glad he found a loving home and sorry that you all had to say goodbye too soon.
  7. It’s time for your children to adjust to changes in your family. When I visit my parents, my spouse and I sleep in sleeping bags and camping mat on the living room floor. Since you have 3 bedrooms, make a guest room used by what ever child is in the midst of longer stay. The other uses a blow up mattress in your living room. Then another bedroom can be your office, maybe there could be space for a blow up mattress on the floor or a daybed? Then the last bedroom is for the cat.
  8. Three of my close family members have/had kidney cancer. I know for two of them , they had the affected kidney removed and that was all to do other than future scans. For the other, it’s been difficult and will be a different journey. What is new for this person is the whole class of immunotherapy that has been invented. So far, the treatments have stopped the spread and shown some reductions. I wish your family all the best.
  9. My STEM high schoolers enjoy touring (or photos of) Frank Lloyd Wright houses.
  10. Maybe a fine arts class of geometric art?
  11. I’ve said “put food up” but it literally means hang it up while camping near bears.
  12. I thought my son was on upswing at 5 days. He was still eating soft food but was resuming normal activities. He then had extreme headaches which the oral surgeon said was TMJ. The next week he tested positive for mono and then had a dental abscess a few weeks later. It was awful.
  13. For anyone who has read Sarah’s Quilt by Nancy Turner, I need some character help. I enjoyed These is My Words, and read the second book this weekend after seeing an earlier post. I have some questions if anyone wants to message me after reading it. I don’t have enough Bible knowledge to figure out part of the plot. @Kidlit? Or anyone else? Thank you.
  14. Seven layer salad- iceberg lettuce, peas, onions, hard boiled eggs, shredded cheese, mayo, and bacon
  15. I know we have many cat families here. I am surprised that my vet recommended whole mouth extraction for my 4 year old cat. She’s always had mild gingervitis since we adopted her from a shelter three years ago. Last year he recommended dental kibble which I bought to go with canned food, but she swallows it whole. Her gums are more inflamed so I was expecting recommendations for a cleaning. I feel lucky to be able to proceed with the surgery, not sure what dh will think once he’s back in town. If anyone has had similar experiences, is there anything I should ask or know about after care? He said worst case scenario is whole mouth, he will know more once she’s under anesthesia. Is there advantage to trying to save teeth? She hasn’t been diagnosed with stomatitis but he generally explained that the sudden increase in inflammation could be autoimmune so I’m assuming that is under consideration.
  16. I have had this in two places in Ohio. First was a townhouse that had a full size washer and dryer in a pantry closet in kitchen. At the time, we were so glad to rent a unit that had laundry hookups after 6 years of dorms and laundry mats. Then we rented a house and had a brief tour before signing lease. I knew on paper it said washer and dryer included. I didn’t pay close attention on the tour. Imagine my shock when I went to wash curtains before hanging them on our first day of possession but we weren’t moving in yet. I went to the (1 of 4) bedrooms that had a dryer and there was no washer. It turns out that the washing machine was built in under kitchen counter. I had assumed that was a dishwasher. At the time, I had never heard of front loading washers. We only needed one bedroom, so the dryer location wasn’t a problem. I didn’t like carrying wet loads of laundry. Houses in that city were built in the 50s. I would often wonder if other houses had refitted for laundry hookups or if people had to use laundry mats.
  17. You look wonderful, lovely dress. congrats to your dd.
  18. Fun to see the photos. The rainbow is the favorite toy for one of our cats.
  19. Congratulations to him. I hope I can write this same post in 2024.
  20. I’m living this with a public school that operates as a magnet school. I will try to remember to add more later but I don’t want to stress myself today.
  21. It is a huge concern of mine and we have rejected many car models because of it. My favorite memory of that experience was the look on the salesman face when I explained that we travel to places without cell phone coverage. He couldnt comprehend that cell phone coverage isn’t everywhere. I am not even from a big city so I can’t comprehend his sheltered existence.
  22. I am but will need to think on what I like. I have always struggled with procrastination.
  23. I like the Frankie better with the dress, maybe because it looks softer?
  24. It sometimes takes my teens hours to find their baskets. Reminds me that I have been meaning to open the sofa bed and measure the clearance between the frame, wall and cushion.
