  1. Darn Tough socks has free shipping today. However, I did move my order over to REI to use a giftcard. They have 10% off buying 3 full price socks, and then I was over the minimum for free shipping there. I cringe at the amount I just spent on socks, but we are very active outdoors.
  2. Is anyone aware of any upcoming promos for books at Amazon or Barnes & Noble? I think most years have had a discount on Monday?
  3. I would love to do this again. The beautiful cards from last year really brightened a difficult time of helping a loved one with a cancer diagnosis and surgery.
  4. I have a math loving 7th grader who is curious about basic trig because she runs into it on adaptive tests at school. I'm looking for a fun intro book for a present. I don't want a curriculum book that will overwhelm the child, but more something fun to read. Initially I was looking at a Basher science book: Algebra and Geometry, but I think that would have been better about two years ago. It is hard to tell by shopping online.
  5. We decorate close to Christmas but leave most things out until Feb. Most of our living room now shows on a public school zoom camera, so I don’t know if my child will have opinions on duration. I also anticipate curious kittens wreaking havoc.
  6. I read that and was thinking of Terabith too.
  7. I was just thinking that this will be hard this year as I am not shopping in person. Even simple things that we usually do like toothbrushes, how do I get distinct colors for everyone? I ordered some treats from Aldi. I wish their website would show ingredient lists, but I think I found items that will work for our house. They should be delivered today. If they don't work, then I have great neighbor gifts. I do have one fun stocking find for each kid, a Rubik's cube style ornament shaped like an evergreen tree. It's too simple for their skills, but I thought an ornament will remind us of these speed cubing years.
  8. For my family, we would not get together. I wish you all the best, and wish everyone good health. It is so hard to be facing these decisions.
  9. I will need to think about 2021 some more. Can I say that the 2020 overused word of “pivot” should be banned?
  10. Three, as another in the region will switch to virtual due to busing
  11. Hope you improve soon. I wish you could have help from your family. This virus is awful.
  12. Thinking of all of you.
  13. My child asked at age 10. I would have agreed earlier but the child didn’t have interest. We went to a tattoo/piercing parlor. It cost more but I really like the barbells that were the first earrings, round balls on both ends and longer than earlobe to give room for swelling and rinsing.
  14. I haven’t kept up with posting and it’s only day 4. 11/4/20 biked 5 miles
  15. @Lady Florida Thank you for your volunteer work. I have a question about your post: when you write opt out, how is that done? My son has a new phone that must be tied to someone’s prior voting record. He is too young to vote, and the number of calls and texts are unwanted. We haven’t wanted to reply to the texts but do you mean we can reply with words “opt out” to reduce some of the noise? signed, overly courted in Ohio
  16. I would like the okay hand symbol back also. I’m realizing how I have used it in my job to communicate with coworkers from a distance. P.S. I never like when people’s names become slang or derogatory. I’d like respect for everyone’s name.
  17. Zero but I think the quiz could have been more robust. We are attending a weekly indoor community class and agreed to the in person public school plan that starts soon. Dh and I are working essential jobs in person. However we are not seeing family and friends and it’s heartbreaking.
  18. I had a glass pan of lasagna shatter in my hand/ hot pad as I lifted it from the oven and placed on countertop. It was 30 years old Pyrex so I assume it was PYREX label. Does anyone know when the company switched between the types of glass?
  19. By age 10, my ds was reading some regular National Geographic articles. We read the kids magazine a few times in the library before that and I never wanted a subscription.
  20. From user Acorn: Today I can log in. To great surprise when I replied on a comment, my screen name spontaneously was my real name from my account. I do purchase items from you so I want my account to stay active. I do not want my first and last name to ever be on the forum. I think I changed my display name back but I am afraid of this security breach.
