Thank you for the info. I hate having to wait 6 months. I'll check into the disorders/syndromes you listed. The doctor mentioned Marfan Syndrome but before we left he said he felt confident it wasn't that.
We live near a pretty good Children's hospital.

We took my son to see a pediatric cardiologist because he occasionally has chest pains. We found out he has a small hole in his heart which is benign. I'm not freaked about that because his older sister has the same thing. He also said his aorta is mildly enlarged, though. I wasn't expecting to hear that so I wasn't thinking clearly enough to ask many questions.
He said neither problem has anything to do with his chest pains. He believes those are muscular in nature. We're to bring him back in 6 months to see if it's getting larger.
So...I'm thinking 'mildly' enlarged is not so bad. Do any of you have any experience with such a thing?

How awful. I'll pray.

My dd can't date until she's married and can't marry until she's 90, and since our family has a life expectancy of 73-83 years, i'm covered! If she breaks the rules, i'll send ds out after the boy or girl.
Ds will be too busy protecting dd to ever worry about his own dating.
Ha! I think I'm going to adopt these rules for my family.

I just see so many young girls pouring their hearts out on FB over a break-up. I know, at times, teens can be dramatic but they seem to be so devastated only to be 'in a relationship' and totally in love with someone new the next week. There's very little maturity to it. It all seems so pointless to me.

My kids use Easy Grammar. They seem to like it which really aids in adding to its effectiveness.

Sadly, as you know, Joanne's husband can't really help her with this right now. Encouragement would be far nicer than snarkiness.
What snarkiness?

I've heard so many parents say that their children aren't allowed to date until they're 16. What's so freaking special about 16? I personally think it depends on the maturity level of each individual kid.

I haven't seen the documentary but going off what I'm reading here, there is a good chance the child has a condition called Pyroluria. Its CUREABLE, its caused by a severe functional deficiency of Zinc and B6 so while blood levels can be normal they never make it into the cells for use. The Sz part occurs due to the high copper levels the Pyroluria causes combined with low histamine. The condition is genetic so when I hear of more then one family member with a mental health condition, especially Bipolar or SZ I can bet you they are dealing with this condition or one similar.
We were in Bipolar hades, long family history of mental illness from ADHD/Depression/BP/SZ and it wasn't until I said enough to drugs and started learning about alternatives and even then it took a year and I learned of it by chance. NONE of our Dr's had ever heard of it save our Pedi's PA who has seen it only once years ago. Its a simple urine test to detect it and with that we had the answers to generations of suffering in my family. Those who opt for treatment no longer suffer mental health issues in my family:) I wish this condition and those similar were well known but big pharma would lose billions if it were. So much suffering and its pure greed:(
What's the treatment for Pyroluria?

You may want to remove ALL your children from that situation if there truly IS a Creepy Guy problem.
This! Could you elaborate more on the creepy men in the stands?

I felt horrible our second week of co-op. It's a nut-free campus due to a couple of children having life threatening allergies. That particular morning we were in a hurry so I told my youngest dd to pack her lunch. She packed, among other things, a peanut butter sandwich and a no-bake cookie. She told me but it didn't register until talking to one of the moms about her daughter's allergy during 1st hour. I was apologetic and she was understanding. I felt like a jack-ass, though. I don't understand how someone can knowingly be uncooperative when it comes to this stuff.

I know I have posted these on a thread before, but honestly these were such a hit when my dds made them & gave them as gifts. We went to our quilt shop, bought the packages of quilt squares, gave each person a set of 4 wrapped up with a ribbon. The instructions are well explained & they are easy enough for pre-teens on up.
These are cute and my kids like these type of projects but what exactly are they used for?
ETA: Okay...I'm dumb. The things are called criss-cross coasters. That should have been my first clue.

I'm getting conflicting answers from the internet. It's boneless if that makes a difference.

One word=Beard.
What does that mean? I'm a little slow sometimes.

She was not saying that a gay is more likey to be a child molester. She was saying that molestation experiences can cause a person to turn to a homosexual lifestyle.
Okay...that's what I thought. I had skimmed through her response quickly so I wasn't sure.

:001_huh:
That is some seriously messed up thinking. Gay men are not more likely to be child molesters.
Is that what she was saying? I thought she meant a child that had been molested might turn out gay. I need to reread it.

A-freakin'-men. I'm tired of the hassle. I also hate that if you don't start a sport while in the womb, you don't stand a chance of making a team.

You can get a lot of useful info from the people on the Chalk Bucket forums.
I'd go there: http://www.chalkbucket.com/forums/parent-forum/

We bought:
http://www.radioshack.com/product/index.jsp?productId=3767303
I was going to use an RCA 751r as it had phenomenal reviews (and half the price) but the Blue Ridge Mountains separate us and the signals 70 miles away. We did put on a $20 amplifier from Lowe's.
We are 70 miles from DC and this actually pulls channels from Baltimore, which is even further away.
Thanks! We have a small antenna and get quite a bit of channels but I was hoping to get more.
-
UPDATE:
We tried an in house antenna. We got one, two, tres channels (all PBS, the last one in Spanish.) So I ordered an antenna from Amazon but decided that it was too small so we went out to Radio Shack and got a behemoth one. It is about 7.5 x 12 feet. Much to our surprise, we get about 50 channels. Dh loves having HD now but wasn't a fan of no DVR. So I bought a Tivo with lifetime.
No more monthly fees for TV ever again!!
What's the name of the antenna you bought?

I remember reading somewhere that Almanzo was only 5'4". I wonder if genetics affected his height.
