  1. I log in, it says "welcome" and brings me to the forums page, and then before I know it, I'm logged out somehow and "may not" do all the stuff. Sometimes I've walked away from the computer, sometimes I've followed a link, or checked my email, sometimes I've been here just browsing around a little, and I'm logged out. Has anyone else had this happen? Is there something I'm supposed to be doing? Should I be asking the admin folks? TIA!
  2. Wow. Hope it's been a creative catharsis for you. I'll head over to look for it this week.
  3. I do think that with the newness of the boards and all the little levels based on # of posts, that some posts have been mostly for the sake of boosting to the next level. There have always been a number of posts that are pretty far from homeschool issues, but they're about issues that are in our lives, so they are in essence about us/homeschoolers. No harm, no foul. You never know what you'll learn here. Go ahead and post your art. People post links to their kids' art, their blogs, their projects all the time. Take it or leave it, like someone (Ms. Mungo?) said. If it bothers you so much that you (generic) feel the compulsion to post a negative, then own up to it at least. But then we'll digress to one of my pet peeves with the new format -- all this rating junk. Who's got the time? Forget this and go create!
  4. But it was enjoyable. This was a pretty complicated story and took time to develop in the book to get the nuances of behaviors, I thought. From Miss Norris' meanness, Tom's troubles, the problems with the Crawfords' character, etc. -- that's alot to convey in 1-1/2 hours. Persuasion, on the other hand, from Anne's perspective, would be easier to film since it's more linear and covers less actual time. The chasing through the house and grounds and then dancing on the grass at the end made me smile, because it was so similar to Persuasion's conclusion, and didn't make as much sense. Ah well, like someone here said, I'd probably watch Austen done with poodles.
  5. What a great visual! That really describes it for me too! Another thing that I don't care for is the whole ratings/reputation/competition to have stars and different labels and color codes and whatever. That just feels like way too much work and time for a message board and way too highschool clique-y. I know some folks are into it, and that's cool too, but those are the valid reasons that I (and perhaps others) do miss the old board styles. And I've avoided other boards in this style before because, for me, the wtm boards were so much more open and friendly. But like they say, ymmv. And I do appreciate what SWB and PHP have gone through to keep these boards available to us all!:o

  7. Definitely. I almost didn't answer your question! I know it's wonderful and creative and more expressive and quite organized and all that. I'm sure I'll use it for posting and to get specific information. But it just feels like work now. Sorry SWB, and everyone else who loves it, that's just how it feels for me. It's not the easy drop by style it used to be. With all the add-ons and personal bios in every single post, it's alot of space to get through each thread. Perhaps this will encourage me to spend time doing something more productive, like organizing. ;P
  8. Kalanamak said it beautifully for me! It seems to be a welcome change for many who have more computer time than I'm able to do. I loved the old boards for the easy scan I could do, and breezy way I could see what was going on. I'm sure I'll still come for specific questions and topics, but I doubt that I'll drop in like I used to. And in the long run that's probably a really good change for my life, there's lots that I should be doing!
