  1. I just posted these in a different thread tonight. But these are two my 8 yr old really enjoyed. The Princess and the Goblin The Princess and Curdie
  2. Here are two free audio we love here. The Princess and the Goblin The Princess and Curdie
  3. ok thanks this is to everyone who replied! This is advice I can work with. Parasite salmon scares me a bit, but I tend to overcook it anyway. I live right off the river so it was kind of cool to have someone gives us freshly frozen salmon. And it's so expensive I never buy it anyway. So I am really good at slow cooking soups and stews and I love tomato base so I will do something like that. Or chili or taco meat sounds easy and delicious! Oh and thanks for reminding me about the low fat content, I had forgotten but I swear I've heard that on food channel sometime. I'm just not too good with fish, but I was thinking a marinade would really help and then I'll just pop them in the oven. I couldn't tell you what kind of fish I have but it doesn't look like trout to me. They are kind of long and slim. But filet how? Can I just cut the head off and then bake?
  4. I am so grateful to be given free meat especially with how much groceries are costing me but I don't have a clue how to prepare it. It comes from him hunting and fishing with friends. Kind of scares me! I have a small amount of Deer that is wrapped so I have no idea if it ground or not. The Elk is ground up. Also some smaller fish which I assume are cleaned but still whole. And two packets of mystery meat but I assume it's one of the two if it was from hunting, or should I just get rid of that. Lastly he has given us salmon before but straight from the river and I'm not used to preparing it. It's was quite fishy last time so any tips on making it tastier? TIA :)
  5. I watched a documentary called Dive! on netflix and was kind of surprised how into dumpster diving for food people could be. It was interesting but I still just don't think I am comfortable with the idea of it. Although I do agree it would be better for us if the stores didn't throw so much food out.
  6. Same car here, but our gas is $4.29 today. Last week it was more like $4.50. I would love to replace my car but it's paid for and I'm broke so I just barely drive the kids anyway right now.
  7. I put in $100 but it doesn't even completely fill up my tank. I would need around $20 or so more to fill it. I'm in northern CA
  8. Too bad this post was from June and shouldn't have new posts in it since it's deal has long expired.
  9. Same with both my boys.....I have no idea why though since mine were sore for days. Sorry she's hurting so much.
  10. I'm the same way with cats! I will not go into any house with them no matter what. My sister once told me I was just being difficult, didn't have an allergy and just wanted attention. Nice huh! OP, I have the same allergy to citric acid but until I read your post had no clue that's the culprit. Since I was a child I could not eat any citrus fruits, I struggle with tomatoes and I always thought it was maybe the vit c or something. I can't even eat colored bell pepper. The worst part is I love and crave all of those things. I'm thinking I have the same allergy as your daughter and for me it's miserable. I already have asthma so I don't notice it making that worse, but my face swells up and my eyes all but swell shut. I have eczema and so my entire face and eyes will be red and itchy and rashy. Now maybe I can look for and pinpoint exactly what to avoid. Any suggestions?? My son has had an anaphylactic reaction and it was so scary. He just brings food or doesn't eat wherever he goes. Although some people seem clueless thank God I have never had anyone try to sneak food to him. I did have one dumb dumb when he was young at a VBS give him reese's peanut butter cereal because she said there wasn't any peanuts in it! Thank God he survived that one.
  11. Just wanted to mention that hiking boots aren't always the best way to go. My son just did a 60 mile backpack trip through Yosemite that they trained a year for and none of them used hiking boots. It can be better to use more flexible foot wear that is lighter weight and can help you adjust to different terrain. So sad! Like everyone said, don't go off trail and always have people bringing up the rear. My scouts hike so much and I am always worried.
  12. I wonder a bit too only because she acts like maybe she's a bit sheltered but when they did the topless photo shoot she seemed to jump right in with no hesitation. She seems pretty talented and goofy! I don't even know why I still watch this show as Tyra drives me insane, but it was on hulu so I got sucked in again.
  13. I thought she was fun and quirky until she told the girls she wouldn't want a boyfriend because her mom gives her all the love she needs. The way she said it was just weird! I just found that beyond just being quirky. But she's doing a good job so far with her pictures.
  14. The women in my family live very long and I think the same thing sometime.
  15. :iagree: Although I have a lot of divorce in my family and mostly they were amicable and so I always saw it as possible. I also used to be so confused as to how people could make babies together and then hate each other so much, until my marriage fell apart. Now I really, really dislike this man I made my wonderful boys with and don't ever want to be friends with him.
  16. :grouphug: That was about the year I realized everything I thought about my life and husband was all wrong. He wasn't who I thought he was.
  17. Sad but the fact is I'm going on 18yrs and have basically lived separated for the last six but we live in the same house and I have to spend a lot of time faking it to others. The truth is because of my health, homeschooling and the kids it will probably be close to 20 or more years married before I can divorce. I need to start a thread one of these days cause it's so sad and depressing for me. I just feel for anyone who ends up in these positions. I am missing so much not being loved.
  18. My son got hired without giving out his SS #. They did require him to bring his birth cert and give the number after he was offered the job before they officially hired him though.
  19. I think it's just years of practice. I always had long hair and as a kid my mom put it up in all kinds of ways. As a teen I spent a lot of time practicing on myself. I can french braid my own hair in a many different kinds of looks.
  20. I would be on the safe side and have her checked out. My son wasn't just thirsty when he was diagnosed, he literally could not stop drinking. He would gulp and gulp and want more and more. One way I had heard of was to fill up a gallon or something with water and only drink from that so you can measure just how much she is drinking per day.
  21. :iagree: yep! I don't like to wear it down very often cause it just gets in my way, so I wear it up 90% of the time.
