  1. Does anyone use these? Can you tell me some pros and cons to these? Thank you!
  2. This SOOO makes me mad. I have experienced this many, many time...especially since becoming a mother. There was a time, when I was younger (late teens, early twenties) when men/boys would always hold the door open, offer to carry my stuff, etc etc etc. My mom would make me go with her when she had to make a purchase at places like Best Buy because the boys would always come and help in record time. She said she would stand there for hours and no one would come...BUT now, 10 years, 2 kids, and *cough*thirtypounds*cough later, I can barely get the sacker at the grocery store to carry out my stuff...and HELLOOOO, he's paid to do it. So basically, I think "most" men/boys do things when they think there is something in it for them. Sigh. Unfortunately.
  3. I have struggled off with really low energy, sadness, etc for a long time. I always thought I was depressed. I recently had blood drawn to check for a multitude of things. I found out that I am VERY anemic. I am on major vitamins and am finally feeling like a normal person again. I guess what I am trying to say is seek out medical help. It could be any number of things that you are experiencing. I wish I hadn't waited so long to get a full check-up. I could have felt better a long, long time ago. :grouphug:
  4. Saxon 1/2 Algebra?? Sonlight doesn't offer Saxon 8/7 but is does offer Saxon 1/2. Does anyone know why this is? Should my 7th grader just skip 8/7 and use 1/2 instead? Thanks.
  5. The first one I was Legalos...the second Arwen. BTW..Is there anyone else on here who was named after a LOTR character in real life? My real name is Arwen. I have actually met a Gandalf and an Aragorn (too bad this Aragorn didn't look like his screen counterpart...we could of had some....um, conversation ).
  6. I thought I would always understand my children...I wouldn't be just their parent but also their wise and always loving friend. HA! I never thought I would look at my children (daily), whatever mess or catastrophy they have created and have my only response be..."what the...??" And follow that great parenting with about 5 minutes of just staring at them bewildered and shocked. My children confuse me daily with their very..um..unique thought processes and ability to wreck a room in 2 seconds. LOL
  7. Thanks! I would appreciate any info you can get me. Where did you husband attend college (if you don't mind telling me)?
  8. Umm...what Micahel Phelps swimsuit indescretion? Not that I want to see it or anything..um...I'm just curious...um yeah, you know, for historical purposes.... um..yeah. *cough*linkplease*cough*
  9. My son (12 yrs old) wants to be an archeologist when he grows up. I realize this may change but he keeps talking about it so I thought I should at least check into what it would take to become one. I have found that when looking at colleges they always have the degree listed as a BA or MA in Anthropology, not archeology. Why is this? Is it the same thing? Does one get a degree in Anthropology then specialize in Archeology? I'm confused. Does anyone know about this career? Thank you!
  10. Yes! LOL The only thing that saves me on those days is that my 12 yr old is much more fun and creative than I am. He can keep the 2 yr old entertained in ways that I would have NEVER thought of. They played in the bathtub (no water) for 2 hours yesterday. They were pirates or something. LOL ((hugs))
  11. I'm glad you all found it funny. I just told my ds12 that everyone thought it was hilarious. He said, "I'm glad someone did. I'll probably need years of therapy but yeah, real funny." He cracks me up. Seriously.
  12. My 2 1/2 yr old just said this the other day.... We (me, ds2 and ds12) were in a local hamburger place waiting to place our order. There was a teenage boy working the cash register and 3 of his buddies were hanging around the counter. We placed our orders and I picked up my ds2 and put him on my hip so he could see the drink choices. The teenage boy says, "So little man, what do you want to drink..would you like pop, juice or milk?" My son says, "No tank you. I will just have mommy's boobie."..and then grabbed my breast for good measure. :001_huh: The worker boy's friends just died laughing. I thought my poor 12 year old would pass out from embarrassment. The teenager just smiled and said, "Nice choice." and gave him a high five. BTW..he was weaned a while ago. He just still likes to talk about it.
  13. My friend had the exact same thing you are describing. Her dr put her on Lexapro. She takes it before bed and sleeps much better now. It's time release so it also helps her stress/anxiety level through out the day. You might ask your dr about it. My friend calls it her miracle.
  14. I think it's possible that he DIDN'T. I definitely think our government is that secretive. I think if we knew the things they did and covered up, we wouldn't be able to sleep at night. I'm not saying he didn't land on the moon but I definitely think it's possible that it was faked.
  15. OMGoodness! I just had an all out battle about this last night with my 12yr old. Me- "Dude, seriously, you reek." Son- "Wha? I showered like Thursday." Me- "Hello. It's Sunday. It's 100 degrees outside. You are sweaty and stinky. Go shower." Son- "Fine. Geesh." 5 minutes after shower. Me- "Did you use soap and shampoo?" Son- "Uh yeah. I think. Probably." Me- "Probably NOT. Go try again. You are still gagging me." Son- "Fine but don't complain to me when you run out of shampoo." What? LOL :glare: This morning he commented that his hair felt different and was laying down better. HELLOOOOOO! It's actually clean. :willy_nilly:
  16. I kind of like the "Stormy, Rainy, Windy" names. I also went to school with a Sunshine...I thought it was cute. I used to work with a William William. He was William William III. I think I would have gone by Bill if I were him. :001_huh:
  17. My 12 yr old son is going to be homeschooled for the first time this year. I really like Sonlight's curriculum but I don't know where to start him. I feel that he is really week on Ancient History but that would be taking him back to 6th grade work. Would that be ok? Would he be too far behind if I did that? WWYD?
  18. WARNING...SPOILER ALERT!!!! If you haven't seen Fight Club and want to, don't read post. . . . . . . . . . . A note on the Fight Club movie...I just couldn't get into it. Then the ending...come ON! He's hitting himself?? LOL My husband and I spent the next week, making each other hit ourselves and yelling, "STOP hitting yourself, stop hitting yourself." But..I know people really like the movie...I just didn't get it or something. Oh. One bright spot in Fight Club was Helen Bonham Carter. I think she is so talented and weird and cool. She creeps me out but in a good way. lol
  19. Oh I forgot about Valley Girl! That is a Nic Cage movie I like also... I LOVED Eternal Sunshine. I have no idea why. My husband said he could barely make it through and I just LOVED it. He also hated What Dreams May Come and I loved it. Hmmm. To each their own, I guess. I really like Kevin Smith movies (Mallrats, Clerks, Chasing Amy) but I didn't like Dogma...at all. Ugh.
  20. Jim Carrey was in Peggy Sue? No Way! I have to go look this up now. LOL :auto: LOL He was WALTER! That is so funny. I need to watch that movie again.
  21. 1. Fight Club...I just did NOT like it. Everyone kept going on and on about the ending..."OMG! The ending will LIKE blow your mind." Well, my mind was not blown...actually I thought it was the lamest ending EVER! lol 2. I can't remember the name...the weirdo Adam Sandler movie where he called a phone s#x girl...anyone see this? It was really odd. And Bad. 3. What Lies Beneath. I don't know if it was the movie or the fact that dh and I sat next to the most annoying people in the world at the movie theater. The got up for snacks, bathroom break, phone calls, etc then would come back and say, "What did I miss?" and the other one would loudly go through a recap. GAWD! I liked Peggy Sue Got Married but other than that...I cannot handle Nicolas Cage. Ugh. Nasal talkers just gross me out.
  22. I really really like the Leslie Sansone WalkatHome DVD's. http://www.lesliesansone.com/ She is fun and energetic. She has DVD's for every fitness level. I've never been disappointed with any of the DVD's I've purchased.
  23. I just put everything that I want to use this year for my TWO kids on my Rainbow Resource wishlist and it came to over $1900!! Faint. I can't imagine how much I would want to spend if I had FOUR kids. LOL. That being said, I know I can't spend quite that much....or even close to that...so I will have to try to utilize the library as much as I can. That is about the only suggestion I have, use the library when possible. Good luck. :D
  24. www.holdthatthought.com notebooking software. I have used the Advanced History, US History, Beginner Bible, Advanced Bible and Devotional cd's. All have been fantastic. They are fairly inexpensive for what you get and you can use them over and over. I highly recommend them. :D
  25. I was one of 4 girls who became pregnant during my senior year of high school (there were only 70 students in my grade so that is A LOT). My mother did help me out but not the way the other girl's families did. She was a good back up and there for me but my son was MY responsibility. The other girls continued to party and have fun like nothing had happened. The three other girls each were pregnant AGAIN within 2 years. IMO, their families made it too easy for them. They never had to see that babies are HARD work...that children require sacrifice. I didn't have another baby for 10 years. LOL
