I don’t think she was going to wear a garter at the first wedding.  She’ll only be in her wedding dress a few minutes- just at the altar.  This wedding is just to get married with immediate family as witnesses.  She wasn’t going to wear her actual wedding dress, but decided why not since it’s already paid for.  However, to make sure it doesn’t get dirty, she’s only wearing it while at the altar.

I don’t have a handkerchief or charm.  Amazon orders are not reliable at the moment.  I think I won’t be concerned about the something old, borrowed, and blue until the big wedding next year.

The chemise I ordered for her surprise ding dong ditch bag came.  I may add a deck of cards or something, even though they are not game people; suntan lotion since they are going to a beach.

We helped a friend marry a gal from another country. They married at the courthouse legally and secretly then had the "real" wedding with all the family later.  The bride at the courthouse was last minute looking for something borrowed, something blue... I wouldn't put it off until later.

  2. I wore gloves to the grocery store today. I think I'll be adding a mask.

This is how clueless people are: I saw an older gentleman looking at grapes with his wife. He wiped his nose using the bottom of his shirt then put his hand inside a bag of grapes, grabbed one and popped it in his mouth. He didn't buy that bag of grapes!!!!

    I was so shocked.

I realized that we didn’t have one this weekend.  We live in a very urban area, and there were no thermometers to be found.  My wonderful mother is now sending one that she easily found in her teenie-tiny small Texas town drugstore.  Makes me appreciate both mothers and the convenience of small towns.

I'm so glad you found one. Yay for moms and small towns!

    Great PSA!
But I’m kicking myself over not thinking about this already...we only have one ancient digital under the tongue kind of thermometer. Assuming it’s even possible to still purchase one anywhere, what modern kind are actually best?

Thanks, I think your best bet is to check reviews on the one you find rather than looking for the best. They are still out there.

Would meat thermometers work? Ours broke yesterday or I would check it.

  5. I wasn't feeling well this morning so I decided to take my temperature. The battery in our thermometer had died. My dh went to the drugstore. They don't carry that kind. He went to a battery store. They have to special order them! I ordered several batteries from Amazon but they won't arrive until the end of the month.

I sent my dh to buy a new thermometer. All stores we checked are low or out of stock both in store and online! I even tried places like Bed, Bath, and Beyond and hardware stores. Looking online for stores with "low supply", dh tried a local drugstore. A woman was standing in the aisle holding the last one! Another store with low supply according to the website, had one left. My dh bought it in case our original thermometer at home is broken.

I don't have a fever. I'm feeling fine now. I'm thankful we have a working thermometer and more batteries on the way.

BTW, check reviews on store brand thermometers. Those may be in stock. Apparently, many of them don't work!

  6. I like the curtains. I agree with covering the pillows with colors of the room, good idea.

I think your main problem in your coffee table as it doesn't look good with the couches and is also fighting with the beautiful window trim. Can you thrift store a different coffee table? Perhaps one that's lower so people can rest their feet on it easily. That's what I did and it works well, especially if it's already distressed.

It's going to be a great room!

I like the Schick Intuition razors and cartridges. They’re a little pricey but great for tweens and teens that are learning to shave.

I agree, these are great for teens and for me! We have a tiny shower with little room to move so I appreciate not having to use shaving gel.

  8. I bought a bunch of dresses from JCPenney when I went with my dh to Hawaii. I wasn't a dress person, but I am now! They are light, airy and easy to walk in. Grab one thing from the suitcase, and look all put together! I got so many compliments from the staff at the hotel. It was wonderful! Branch out and buy a couple sundresses. You can easily wear them with comfortable sandals.

  9. Future. My dh and I just recently joined an empty nesters class at a new church in preparation for our dd graduating in May. It hasn't felt right. My dh realized during table discussions most people focus on the past and their regrets. They are also much older as a group than we are.

We've learned we need a group of people that want to be engaged with young people!

  10. If she is asking you for help, you probably need to be the person to tell her she is being abused. Perhaps God has you in her life to help her during this time. Please don't leave things alone!

Pastors are often too far removed from the situation and not trained to handle it. I'm a strong Christian, but I've seen too many women hurt by pastors to recommend that route.

  11. My dh and I really like intermittent fasting. We've both felt better not eating for 16 hours. It's hard to explain. My dh says it feels like a great reset. It has also helped me to eat less during the day and lose the mid-life weight creep so I'm back to my ideal weight.

ETA: We loosely follow the 16:8 method of only eating within an 8 hour time frame each day.
