  1. Has anyone tried CA private school? Unfortunately, the free public school option is not available in MD, although CA headquarters is based in Baltimore, MD...that's another story in itself. I've been interested in CA for quite some time, but held off in hopes that a charter school/public school option would be available. If you or someone you know have or is using the private school option, please share your thoughts and insights. Thank you kindly~
  2. I'm not sure about stated disability, but based on personal experience, I may be able to add a word of advice. It may indeed be a result of low iron. Two colleagues of mine (sisters) both had gastric bypass surgery and as a result one of them now have low iron. She began eating ice...all the time! The doctor placed her on extra supplements for iron. This helps to control the cravings she has for ice. On a more personal note--my daughter started eating plaster (peeling it off the walls...the drywall). I worried and worried, because I didn't know why this was happening. Why would she eat plaster??? I prayed and researched to get some sort of answer. Well, I was surprised at what I learned. There's this condition called Pica. It's a eating disorder where individuals begin to eat nonedible items...such as plaster, foam, ashes, etc. So, then I went to my pediatrician and he said it looked like Pica also (I just told him what she had been doing...without even mentioning Pica). From there we went back to figure out what happened to cause this. When my daughter was ten she started her menstrual cycle (I was eight when I started, so I knew she would probably start early as well). About 11 months after starting she had an abnormal cycle. She stayed on her cycle for almost a month!!! Again, I was freaked out!! We went to the pediatrician who referred us to a specialist for blood disorders. Well, apparently, this wasn't all that rare (believe it or not), and many young girls have this issue. Something to do with the lining that thins and blood vessels and such (I could explain this better in person). So, she was placed on birth control to stop the bleeding and iron supplements...as she had lost so much blood! Things return to normal; however, she continued to have problems with low iron. That's when she began eating the plaster. It's because of an iron deficiency. So, our doctor says she needs another iron supplement. So far, she's doing well. I asked her when I first noticed the plaster missing why she did such. She simply said she craved it. She didn't know why (and I surely didn't know why either). But, thank God she's better!! So, all that to say...go with your gut instinct. Take him to a doctor and have his blood tested. He could have low iron. Blessings~
  3. I'm the manager for my troops product sales. Last year, we basically had 7 girls/families (out of 16) participate and those who did were not all that thrilled with the prices. Of course, I bought something (three things actually), because I felt compelled to contribute. Although our troop has now grown to 25, we've opt out of that fundraiser this year! So, all our time and efforts will go towards the cookie sale...my favorite :) A donation would be a very nice gesture though!
  4. Can you share more about Discovery Streaming, please? I was considering SOS or Monarch for Health. Thx!
