  1. Hi all! I started homeschooling my DD last year first grade. I have to say it wasn't easy. She hates any work. Any way, I am feeling the pressure of this year coming. I am afraid I am not up to par with my skills here. First thing I am stressed about is the LA. English is my second language and my writing skills are non existent. Hence I have the following question. Can somebody recommend a solid composition program (which teaches actual writing skills). I'd like something that will build over time, year after year and teaches strong writing skills. Right now, I am thinking to continue with WWE2, easy grammar 3, Sequential spelling unless there is something else would be more beneficial. Just want to add something else with more creative writing approach. As for as I understand WWE2 still does only the copywork. Thank you! PS She reads better than comprehends!
  2. Have used both. Commercial soaps dry out my hands terribly! In a matter of days! Either one of these soaps work great. I use Dr.Woods mostly because of the price-we use a lot of it.
  3. I am a little late reading your post. Glad to hear good news and praying for your family and complete recovery.
  4. We have used it initially for about 3 months. Paid subscription. Plus side-some concepts really stick because of the repeating. Made my math program so much easier at the beginning because of the Dreambox. Minus-"Hitting the wall" everybody talks about-I personally believe there are some bugs in the program which makes it impossible for child to pass some exercises. They tried to work with me trying to resolve ongoing issues, but at the end didn't. Bottom line-I'd love the program to wok for us, it has huge potential, but at the time we did it (over the summer) it was too buggy and didn't adjust exercises to help the child to pass. PS DD played several hours at the beginning, after hitting the wall-wouldn't play. I can understand why :)
  5. I use this website for spelling practice: http://www.bigiqkids.com/SpellingVocabulary/Lessons/ You can use their lists or input your own. When we started spelling it was the worst hair pulling subject. DD couldn't spell ANYTHING. Now, she is so much better-it is the easiest subject and she can do independent study of the words. I use this website with SS. Works great for us! Good luck.
  6. I have similar situation with my DD. Anybody knows good free phonics program online? If not, then maybe there is a good phonics overview book. We finished hooked on phonics but I would like something compact explaining the rules. We use sequential spelling and it doesn't have any spelling rules. At first, I wasn't interested in the rule based spelling, but I would like to have it on hand now for quick review or case by case problem areas. Thank you!
