  1. I was switched to Lexapro in November and the exhaustion is real. It has been great for allowing me to go back to sleep at night and not instantly start worrying, but the days are so hard. The last appt she switched me to the liquid form so I could take less, but it is still very hard to get motivated. I'm sure she'll adjust again in a few weeks. It's so frustrating to find the right thing.
  2. I did ours on 10/1 and it went through fine. Got the verification on 10/2. Now, there is the irritating thing about not being able to see what the IRS transfer actually transferred, that's weird to me. I know I should be more trusting, but.....
  3. The FASFA that is about to open tomorrow, for the 2021-2022 year will be based on the 2019 tax return. On the FASFA site, they direct you to your school's financial aid office (and this is what each of our schools have told us). You will have to document with them the change in financial situation and they can make a professional judgement from that. So far, no school has told us exactly what "proof" they will require. But all offices are prepared for a LARGE number of appeals.
  4. I am supposed to attend a funeral at Arlington National Cemetery the first week of October. We would need to fly in. For those that are actually in the area, how is it in terms of safety and Covid restrictions?
  5. We are so excited! I need some tech advice... Our internet will be glitchy I'm sure. Is there a way to download and watch later on a MacBook Air? I don't see an option like what is available for ios devices. Usually we use an hdmi cable to watch from the laptop to the tv if that matters. I don't want our experience ruined by the buffering circle of death.
  6. I’m so glad to see this thread! I’m panicking about ours and would love to see someone’s. I felt pretty together until it actually came time to write it! Breathe. Breathe.
  7. There is no fee for the charity if they donate through PayPal Giving. We are a 501c(3). **edited to add** There is no fee for either party.
  8. Can anyone tell me about Dr Chen that will be teaching Honors Biology? I think it will be her second year.
  9. She is taking Alg 2 at WH concurrently. She had A's in Alg 1/Geo. And currently has an A in Alg 2. I think your daughter would be fine. Mine had Honors Physics last year and she wanted to take the summer Honors Chem prep class since her Physics wasn't at WH. I don't think she really needed it though.
  10. The class is 3 hours a week and I'm guessing she spends about 3-4 hours a week on homework. It's been challenging but not a burden. She does love math so she doesn't mind the work. The teacher does open and close with prayer, but the classes themselves have been mostly secular. Nothing has stood out to me at least.
  11. My daughter is in Honors Chem at WH and loves her teacher. Bailey. From the classes I've heard the teacher is great. Well organized, responsive, encouraging.
  12. My daughter just had surgery (in April) to remove a loose body from her knee and a repair to the MPFL. Hers was done at a surgery center (outpatient). Waaaaaaay cheaper. Our ortho office was great about getting everything pre-approved. I'm surprised yours isn't dealing with the anesthesiologist, too. We've had a lot of PT as well. If she just had to get back to a functional level we would have been done a long time ago. And if your son is just having a loose body removed I think the recovery is closer to 6 weeks. But if cost is an issue, that might be something else you want to check on.
  13. Following..... I am looking for WHA sets but really don't know where to look. Few people locally do WH so my FB groups don't help much.
  14. Bananas, bars (I hate to rely on these, but I need to know she has something she will eat fast if needed), apples, oranges, pasta salads (she loves one with chicken/ranch), turkey sams, cheese/pretzels, taco soup is something she loves in a thermos. I let her eat on campus about once a week.
  15. That's good to know! Thanks, RootAnn. I wish they had a forum for questions/buy/sell!
  16. I'm posting this here since the WHA high school math courses use this. We just bought new iPad and Apple pencil so I'm trying to figure out if it can be used instead of the Wacom tablet that WHA recommends. How would I test it? See? I barely know enough tech stuff to even ask the question. But someone out there can help me...I'm sure I'm not the first to not want another tablet if it can be avoided.
  17. You (OP) sound exactly like me. My allergies seem to be getting worse but I just can not take typical meds. Even the Neti Pot...I ended up with an infection because it didn’t quite go right. Though I loved how I felt after the Neti but before infection! ? Anyway, I’ll be watching this thread but wanted to say that a tiny dose of phenegren (rx required but my dr will make it for regular dosing so it lasts forever) has actually worked for me. Like, a quarter of a dose. Small. (Else, the allergies wouldn’t matter because I’d be out like a light!) Good luck!!
  18. Mine got Silver on Latin II. She uses Cambridge Latin at her co-op.
  19. I'm trying to tiptoe into letting my teen use imessage, but I really want to be able to monitor it a good bit right now. Is it possible for me to see when they send iMs from their iPad on my phone, without them seeing all the texts from my phone? I know I can (and will) just physically check the device from time to time, but I'd like to know if she 1) sends iMs when she isn't supposed to, or 2) deletes messages. And of course I want to see what she is saying. Mostly because it's new and I don't know that she won't try to get around rules even though she knows the hammer would come down. I just can't see to find a way to see her stuff without her seeing all of mine. Help!!
  20. Having just dealt with an urgent care for stitches on my daughter’s thumb, I would go to your regular doctor next. I’m in a similar Insurance situation as you so I get what you are saying. But at this point, it’s going to cost you more if they don’t take care of it right. My GYN has a nurse practitioner in her office that I can see for much less. Could you try that? My daughter had staph on her hand and it escalated so quickly. By the time she stopped her antibiotic there was noticeable improvement. And we did do the ointment longer (it had to be put in her nose too though.) after this last episode I’m not sure what would warrant me going back to an urgent care. Go with your gut.
  21. I think all ages can love it. There is one song between zac and zendaya that I wouldn’t have been excited about my under 10 crowd watching over and over, but I would have survived it. We own it and watch it a lot. :)
  22. Thanks, everyone. I so appreciate the responses. I don’t know exactly what I can do. Traveling isn’t much of an option. Maybe I can just talk to a doctor about real risks/benefits...and pray, pray, pray for wisdom.
  23. I am trying to tell myself that she could work all day long and her knee cap will still be doing it’s own thing. The bone chip is situated right between her femur and tibia. So every time she straightens her leg there is a pebble in the way. It’s definitely got to come out. They are amazed she’s done pointe on it this long. And it was a good lesson in listening to your body. She told all the pts all along “it feels like something is in there, like it’s blocking my knee”. She was right! So, anyone know a good ortho in the south east?
  24. I feel a little better finding people who know what I’m talking about. But now a little more nervous about the surgery. Background: she had her first dislocation last year where a piece of bone was chipped off and now it’s a 1cm loose body in between her knee bones. So far there appears to be no cartilage damage. So that has to come out. Since she has hyperextension of everything she was prone to subluxations anyway. However, her alignment on that leg (knee cap) is not good. That won’t be fixed with the tightening. So he said “down the line” she may have to have that major surgery. But I’m getting concerned that we are staring at a year long recovery (to dance ability) and then she’s still likely to have it happen again. He knows she dances, wouldn’t he have told me it was a “no return to sport” type thing if it was an unrealistic goal? Someone asked if she had pt. She did. They were trying to strengthen her thighs and basically all around the knee to lessen the chance. I think she could have worked harder on that. I don’t even know how to go about a second opinion! I know that sounds stupid. But in our area all the surgeons know each other and no one is going to disagree with their buddy. Is there an easier way that I just do not know about? I’d really like someone that understands what her normal is so when they say she’ll be normal, they know what she’s thinking. This is hard stuff!
