Stay-at-home mom and now homeschool teacher!
  1. My mom just had an episode where she actually spent a few days in the hospital. She suffered from very low iron levels as well and she had a lot of the symptoms you described. It took her almost a month after taking iron pills and eating foods with iron in them, for her iron levels to get back up to the normal level. She feels so much better now! I hope you get to feeling better!
  2. I have been wondering about writing a few articles as well, so I'm very interested in what others have to say!
  3. I am Pentecostal Holiness, but not the snobby kind:tongue_smilie:
  4. Thanks! All this confuses me and to have it broke down helps! Am I the only one that is nervous over this? We have a small amount of debt, not much at all, but after reading this I want to work at getting it paid off and sock it back in savings!
  5. I LOL when I read this, because my in-laws have this thing with potatoes and little kids. My M-I-Law told me that my hubby grew up on potatoes and gravy! When my kids were younger and we went to my inlaws for dinner, she always made potatoes or gravy (white flour, milk, butter and salt!!!) for my babies. I never complained, though because she was making them something to eat and I am not a confrontational type. Oh and this is also the same M-I-Law who recently brought my 14 month old at the time, son home with his OWN Oreo Mcflurry. Yeah, I just about flipped! I now tell her that he can't have much sugar because it makes him go wild! I know that my mom bf me for a couple of months but then went to a formula.
  6. I realized after posting that that 36 weeks is probably a years worth of school:blush:. But thanks for explaining it!
  7. Wow, tfs! This is wonderful! I am starting my first year of K, and I am actually going to be organizing our things this weekend, so this is an awesome thread to have! Def bookmarking this! BTW, do you print and organize 36 weeks at a time or the whole year? Thanks!
  8. Okay, thanks! I will have to try to take my K'er one day! Did you try Hampton? We go there every year for a getaway and I can get you the name of the hotel we use. It is affordable but nice.
  9. Did you try Hamton or Newport News? It would be about a 30 min drive, but to me that wouldn't matter. When is the Homeschool Event? I live in VA, and didn't know they had one!
  10. Imagine their conversation in jail to other prisoners. "What are you in here for?" "Well, umm, I sold cheese?" This is a laugh. I could understand a fine, but come on a 13 month sting operation? That is pittifal when there are druggies out there selling to minors.
  11. Thanks! For awhile I did. Especially when we would be around children younger than her and they could write and spell their name. But I realized that she just learns differently and I need to go slower with her.
  12. I agree that it isn't odd as well. My dd is 5 and we are starting K this month and she knows her ABC's, but she can't recognize many of the letters and only knows a few of the sounds. Same with numbers. She's great 1-10, but more than that and she's saying 13, 16, 20 etc. She also cannot write or spell her name, even though she has had practice. My dd's vision is great, but I feel like she is a little immature. (hope people don't take that the wrong way! I just feel like compared to other 5 year olds on this board, she can't do most of what they are doing.) That is why I am starting her in K4 phonics and numbers instead of regular K. I wouldn't worry at all! I worried for awhile, and then thought, you know what? She will be in school for 13 years, probably more after college, and I'm going to stop pushing her to learn until K. I also have heard people who's children were late readers, and their children ended up reading much better than children who were early readers. Not sure if it is really true or not, but it helps me!
  13. I agree with everyone who said your own PJ's. I wore the hospital gown while I was in labor, but afterward it was so nice to get in my own pj's. I also loved having my own body lotion with me. I felt a little better knowing that even though I may have looked crappy, I smelt good! :D
  14. I was going to suggest the same websites. Super cute, FREE preschool pages that look really good. I haven't used them for my daughter yet, but I plan on implementing a few of them this year, even though she is in K. They just look so fun! Good luck and have fun!
  15. I am loving the fact that I don't have to send my little girl off to K. I would probably bawl my eyes out! I love starting early in August because it is so hot you can't enjoy playing outside for long and once it cools off you can take some vacation days!
