  1. Great comments, thank you all. It's difficult to fully understand the program from just the samples that are available at their website. Was there anything that helped you get a better grasp of the program? EKS this is certainly encouraging. I know how important it is to be a good writer. I've seen some truly bad writing from "professionals" and I want to make sure that I help her build a good foundation and maybe even a love for it. I'm pretty certain I'm going to try the program. I may delay it until 4th grade but sounds like it will be worth the investment.
  2. Great points and thank you for providing me with more info about MCT. To be honest, I think it's a combination of the dull repetitive nature of Shurley English that she dislikes as well as not really enjoying the analyzing sentences part. She can do it and she enjoys the writing part but just getting her to sit down and get started is the hard part. You've given me a few things to think about. Maybe I should just accept that language arts is not her thing and I should just find a program that just "gets it done" quick and less painfully. Is it bad of me to think this way??? I could always reevaluate and consider MCT for 4th grade. It just really looks like a great program. Looking forward to reading additional responses. Thank you!
  3. My DD is getting ready to start 3rd grade and I'm considering changing up our language arts program. We've been using Shurley English. Language arts is one subject that she just does not enjoy doing so I'd like to find something that will help her (and me too) develop a love or at least a "like" of it. I'm considering MCT level 1. I just want her to enjoy our LA time. Does MCT sound like a good choice? Would you recommend that we also incorporate a separate spelling program? If so, any recommendations? Anything else that you would recommend to add so that we have a well rounded program? I guess I just don't know how to make this subject fun :( A little more info: She's very bright and can do the work in Shurley English but she REALLY dislikes our language arts time. We follow the Sonlight reading list We haven't had a separate spelling program since I have her write the sentences from our Shurley English book to practice handwriting and spelling. We haven't done much on the poetry side so the MCT Poetry sounds like a great addition
  4. You may have found something by now but in case you haven't...have you looked into All Bilingual Press? I've used some of their material and it is very good and reasonably priced. http://www.allbilingual.com
  5. I'll have to go back and look at Calico again. I'm glad you reminded me of that option. The download option has it's pros and cons. One pro is that I can print copies of worksheets for each of the students in the coop. A con of course is having to print everything out including flashcards on my own.
  6. Hi, just wondering if anybody had any feedback on the Sube spanish curriculum. I will be teaching spanish for our coop and was considering using this curriculum. Any info would be greatly appreciated:001_smile:.
