  1. I’m sorry. I have an uncle that got diagnosed with MS maybe 20 years ago. It’s been progressing very slowly. He only needed a wheelchair in the past couple years.
  2. I think you’re right. Seizures or migraines. Pain can definitely cause personality changes.

    Man or bear?

Your response wasn’t to the logic. Your response was that my line of thought regarding criminals was crazy. That’s also an untrue equivalency. I grew up the child of first a cop, then police chief in North Florida. My first series of nightmares happened after Ted Bundy kidnapped a girl from an elementary school not far from my own. That might not have been the start of drilling stranger danger into my whole generation, but it was definitely the start of my parents warning me. Not many years after that the Gainesville serial killer started killing young women not far from me. We had to change plans repeatedly to not go near there. Unfortunately more than one police officer in my family ended up in a shootout with someone who annihilated their families in South Florida and drove North to escape. Unfortunately one of them was killed. So yeah, I realize that not everyone has their childhood shaped by multiple murderers. But mine was. It doesn’t make me afraid, but it possible I’m more aware of the dark side of life than you are. That doesn’t make me crazy. It doesn’t make my working knowledge of how serial killers or family annihilators act illogical. It’s probably true that you just have less knowledge in this area.

    Man or bear?

No, I’m not assuming anything. It was in response to a personal attack by @Meriwether That’s all. Of course not. But a significant number of serial killers also seem not only nice and approachable, but like upstanding citizens to almost everyone who knows them. Seeming nice and approachable says absolutely nothing about whether they are actually safe and helpful to strangers.

It’s absolutely not nuts if you know anything about serial killers.
  6. Unfortunately relative is not okay. It’s stage 4.

    Man or bear?

I don’t think it’s that surprising. Black bears are far more common un the US than Brown. And Brown bears very rarely attack in the areas they are common in the US. And dangerous men are the ones to fear in the US. And history shows that the most dangerous men are also the ones who act the least dangerous.
  8. Idk, but make a note in your calendar or set an alarm on your smart phone to look at it in two weeks. If it persists longer than 2 weeks from today, go to urgent care and insist to have it biopsied. A relative had a similar bump checked 3 times over the course of a year and in the last check it was found to be stage 4 melanoma. If the first couple doctors had taken it seriously, it would be a small scar on her finger today.

    Man or bear?

What a lovely story. I don’t think it’s that men are demonized, any more than women are demonized. I think the problem is the 2% or so of those who are malevolent have dozens to hundreds of victims.
  10. They look gorgeous. Thanks for sharing

    Man or bear?

That depends on how the abandonment was done. If they were left with another responsible adult? No charges. Abandon your baby in a crib to die alone? Murder. Abandon at a hospital or fire station for the state to take custody of? Depends on the age of the child and state law.
  12. I don’t listen to every case, but I really like Annie Elise from Serialously for the cases I do follow.

    Man or bear?

No, statistically women physically harm children far less often than men do.

    Man or bear?

Maybe that’s the difference. I know multiple men who have attacked or SA’d women and children. And I know multiple women who were attacked by strangers. We’ve had multiple kids in our house who were victims of abuse. I was nearly kidnapped as a child, and escaped only because a police officer happened along. I don’t live in fear, but I am aware and I trust my gut.
  15. Here’s a video for setting up for cable or cable box on a TCL tv.
  16. Probably. I know I set up a TCL tv to do this. There were options deep in the settings.
  17. Oh, I’m so sorry. Idk what else to ask for, but I said a prayer the doctor does.

    Man or bear?

I think she is statistically less safe just for having already been assaulted. Both women and children who were victims once are more likely to be victims again. I don’t have a link. I think I first heard that on Oprah from the guy who wrote the fear books. Whoever said it, she confirmed she had in fact been the victim of two men as a child.

    Man or bear?

According to the article I linked above, children are extremely unlikely to be attacked by a brown bear worldwide. It’s mostly adult men who are hunting who get attacked, and more than half the time because of mother/cubs. Apparently bears find adult males dangerous but children are not considered to be either dangerous or food. I have to wonder if the correlation doesn’t have more to do with hunting bringing men deeper into the forest than children are likely to go though.

    Man or bear?

Unprovoked? Outside of polar bears in the Arctic I’ve only heard of bear attacks when they are habituated to humans feeding them or getting between a mama and cub. Here’s a detailed article. I’ll come back and summarize after school pickup if someone doesn’t beat me to it: https://www.nature.com/articles/s41598-019-44341-w

    Man or bear?

Right. Constant fear would be a problem. And I just googled, the uppermost result was a quote from Wikipedia on a 2011 Spanish study of 30 countries that said 2.4% of men and 1.8% of women admitted to rape in the past year. And I didn’t click through to read sources. So you might be right. My line of thinking is that people are sexually assaulted by other people daily. But bear attacks are very rare even where bears are common. I’m aware of places in the Arctic circle where they reportedly have to kill an average of 2 polar bears for attempting to attack humans per year. But bear attacks are much more rare than rape. There might be several logical errors there, but statistically I bet it holds.

    Man or bear?

No. Most people in the world want to think of themselves as good. Only 10% of people have something approaching a personality disorder, and only about 2% are malevolent. I probably have a more suspicious view because I was raised by a cop and always had a police radio in my house, and because we’ve been foster parents. So I’ve been exposed to more of the bad than most people. So I wouldn’t say that there’s something wrong with how you view the world. But I would say if you haven’t experienced this kind of daily fear, you’ve lead an extremely privileged life. And good for you. I hope in the future everyone can be so privileged.
  23. You definitely need a second trip!
  24. My DH has complained I’m a loud sneezer. But if I’m not loud, I keep sneezing. Once it was 14 quiet sneezes before I let loose and sneezed loudly, when I finally could stop. Idk why, it’s just how it is.
