  1. I would but I cant this year because I am doing a cross country move during this time :D
  2. I am taking AP Lang now (OH MY GOD THE EXAM IS IN 1 MONTH :willy_nilly:) As far as prepping just read , read, read and write till your fingers fall off. Also if you can write 5 paragraphs in 15 min your are in. I have been doing prep books like my life depended on it.Other than that I have no advice. ps Just remember AP Exams is like every high schoolers punishment some escape the pain and others like me are forced to go through every single possible one :D
  3. Well as a person who lives in an RV I want to through my .02 cents in. First he should not have been driving. Second You are not supposed to have 80ft worth of vehicle thats against the law. Third Most motorhomes are not equipped with seatbelts much less 16 of them. It was not stupidity people dont realize how dangerous RV's are and they think its all fun and games you should see some of the accidnets we have seen.
  4. :001_smile: Hi well TT is a bit light which is why I supplement with Khan acadmey (free) but I need to "learn" the material. Math is like having a top of the line GPS yes you might have the best one but if you dont know how to use it it does not do you much good. I am switiching to AoPS for Pre calc though because i do not think TT pre calc is enough.
  5. Hi I am sophmore also and I am using Teaching Textbooks for Algebra 2 and love it! I think it would be a great fit for you since you are short on time. :001_smile:
  6. I need a 32.5 but they dont sell that so I go with a 33. I am only 5' 7".5 but apparently my legs are long which is weird because I really dont look like it. I had a friend with a 34 in seam and she was barely 5 7 0_o and to make them look even longer she was under weight. I have never seen a girl with such long legs!
  7. Alright well my birthday is coming up and I will be 16 and when my mom asked what I wanted I said a new top of the line TI graphing calculator along with AoPS Pre Calc and she said yes! Now I have to choose between TI-89 OR TI- Nspire. This is a calculator that needs to take me through college and I plan to do pre med.
  8. Dont worry I took the Calc pre test and passed that one so I think I might be ok.:001_smile: I am just worried about the learning style.
  9. Oh this is good to hear :001_smile: I am on lesson 52/120 on TT Algebra 2 and decided to take the AoPS solving pre test for pre calc and except for some topics that TT has not covered I was able to pass it. Thing is I have not covered imaginary numbers , functions or graphing but everything that TT has gone over which was like half the test I got a perfect score on. I am thinking of starting AoPS in May when I am nearing the end of TT. ps Tell your daughter (16) that she is making my schedule look so dull right now
  10. Hello I plan on taking: Pre- Calc AP Physics B AP Bioliogy AP United States AP Literature and comp Spanish 4 Self Study: AP Psych I am prepared to die
  11. Have you looked at Teaching Textbooks maybe that approach will work for your DD. I found Lials hard TT to be a great fit. I had to back track after ps also. Tell your dd that all she needs to know are the for basic functions and she can make it through any math class. I am now in Algebra 2 and never use a calculator and its amazing the things you can do when you do have acsses to one. I am typing on my phone sorry for any spelling errors.
  12. I believe he your son is the perfect math for honors courses. They provide a small amount of challenge without the mega work loads of AP. May I ask what is his learning style. If you husband would like him to learn cookie cutter school classes maybe he should take some sort of credit at the CC. As far as online course I reccommend keystone pm me with any of your questions. Hope I helped :001_smile:
  13. Wow this is an amazing thread! I wish I could have followed my passions instead of being on a rigorous college track. But its to late to change that as for you dc just remember colleges don't care where you start its were you are at the end of the four years. They like to see growth and even more importantly the potential for more growth. Its hard to not compare yourself to others even though I am taking 5 AP's and leading a really odd lifestyle if I would see someone taking 6 AP's and president of the French club I would feel defeated. Its hard to feel good enough when everyone around you is doing so well. I have been college crazy since 7th grade always thinking Stanford Stanford Stanford because of their med program and now I keep seeing these quaint liberal arts colleges and thinking would it really be that bad to relax my under grad years?
  14. I am using Barrons to prep also and the MC portion is killing me! I am already saying my prayers because this and many other AP's are going to be the death of me. There is not much I can do now since I have already payed for the exam but I am just going to do as many practice test as possible and just wing it.
  15. aww thanks guys. I almost went with the annotations but decided against it I want the original so that she could get a full experience plus I felt she needed the challenge. I think this could be easily modified for someone as young as 1st grade if you get the kids version. Today she read the first chapter of around the world. I made her write down all the words she did not know and define them. Then she had to write a 1 paragraph summary on what she read. Next week starts the fun stuff:D
  16. Alrighty Hive mind ever since my Harry Potter Unit Study was a success I have been playing with the idea of doing another unit study. I could not figure out what I wanted to go with but I brushed through The Well trained mind and decided on a major Jules Verne unit study. She will study three of his major works and maybe a few other here and there. Her schedule will look like this. Unit Studies: April- Around the World in 80 days Unit Study May- Journey to the center of the earth June- 20,000 leagues under the sea :D July- Jules Verne himself and other authors like him On top of her unit studies she will be following a classical education for language arts using Rod and Staff and Spelling Workout. The books will not be the childrens version but the original texts. This is my biggest unit study ever and she starts April 1. I was wondering if anyone had done something similar I would love to here what you did :bigear: Countries that will be covered: Week 1: London France Suez, Egypt Week 2: India Singapore China Week 3: Japan Hong Kong San Francisco Week 4: New York Ireland Topics that will be covered for each country: • Geography -Draw map of the country or city -Learn Capital of country • Customs -Learn about major holidays -How do the dress -Create paper doll with traditional clothing • Food -Research traditional dish -Pick 1 of 3 countries and prepare dish • Animals -Draw picture of the animal -Write report on the animal • Currency -Make some of the money -Convert to US Dollar equivalent • Art -Discover some of the traditional art -Practice this form of art or/and write a quick summary of the history • Flag -Make the flag • History -How was the country or city founded? -Important events Week 1 Monday: Begin London Lap book Tuesday: Complete London lap book Wendsay: Begin France lap book Thursday: Finish France lap book Friday: Begin Egypt lap book Saturday Finish Egypt lap book Sunday: Review countries Give oral repot
  17. I know I wanted to use educator so badly but could not due to the price :glare: to much for just a a lecture.
  18. Well I think TT is behind and it does go slow but I still use it and I plan to take AP Calc and AP Stat before leaving high school and I plan to go into a STEM field. My situation was different though, I went to a small charter school that had one of the worst math tracks ever! I left to a better school for my 7th grade year and this teacher was amazing. I went in knowing basic operations and left with a good understanding of the concepts in Algebra. Fast forward to 8th grade year when I miss 5 months of school due to a very bad illness. The teacher was angry at me for wasting her time and when I would ask her would tell me that she could not slow down and stop teaching so that me one student could get it. This left me not knowing a darn thing but I still passed her class with a B:D much to her huffing. 9th grade year I take geometry with keystone bad idea I had no one to teach me and it was a very hard year. I passed with a B+ but the topics were not cemented. So I made a choice 10th to start with TT Algebra 2 and do Geometry and Pre Clac over the summer. This means that I will be more than ready for my PSAT, SAT AND ACT. I will also take Pre Calc in 11th because I do not think that TT is good enough to count for Pre Calc. I think TT is fine up to Algebra 2 and after that its just a supplement.
  19. I love TT! I just gave my sister her placement test today for 5th grade and she got a perfect score after doing TT 4 in 5 months. She also placed into TT 6 but we are not going to make her go ahead I will just supplement.
  20. I am using TT and can see why he loves it although I love math i am not good at it and although I think AoPS looks cool I am not really willing to do it TT is amazing btw before you keep going look at these math courses to supplement. http://alison.com/
  21. Do not even need to describe it look and see for your self its on my blog :D i could not help but share it for all you self studiers out there. averagetravelingteen.blogspot.com sorry if you all know about it and I just missed the memo I tend to do that
