  1. a rep. She said the scents they use have a lower flash point, so the smell might not last very long with candle heat. It'd be awesome if she was wrong!
  2. I like the idea, but I don't want to have to buy their burners - so expensive! I wish I could just get the wax and burn them in the candle tart burners I already have, but I've been told the candle heat will be too high for some of the scents. Yankee Candle's quality sucks, so I'm going to try Kringle Candles and see if that's better.
  3. Come on peeps! We have tons of people in this forum - we only need 4 more people to have a league!
  4. I have a 'regular' name. It's from a quote of Madeline L'Engle
  5. okey dokes, I set up a league. You'll need to create an espn account before you can join the team. As I get people's email addresses, I'll invite you to join. First come, first served!
  6. it's not too hard, a tad bit time consuming. I do it through ESPN so it's easy to use, and you do the draft on the computer. Basically you pick real football players from any team to form your own team, and then how they do individually in a game earns you points. So I will have ;) Peyton Manning as my qb, and then say Calvin Johnson from the Lions as one of my wr. So even when the Lions lose, if Johnson catches throws or makes a td, I would get points. And your team plays against a different team each week, whoever gets the most points wins. The time consuming part is once the season gets going and there's bye weeks, or injuries, you have to move your players around. You don't want your qb on your starting roster if his team isn't playing that week. So it's a bummer when people join, and then don't take care of their team, and you end up playing against a team who has half their players on bye, earning no points :glare:
  7. Would anyone be up for a WTM fantasy football league???
  8. YES! I am getting ready to start a thread about it. How fun would it be to have a WTM fantasy league??
  9. I can't WAIT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I think I might even be more excited than dh, and that's saying a lot :D:D :iagree::iagree::iagree: But my teams are the Lions :tongue_smilie: and the Colts...well really just Peyton Manning but I'll take them all!
  10. I seriously miss all the fun around here every single time. :nopity: Years ago I was on a huge scrapbooking message board and I remember a couple of big scandals like that where a troll created this huge persona and had all this drama, and then it was so much fun when we figured it out
  11. Ugh. I probably won't be renewing either. My copy is still sitting in the plastic wrap. I almost started a thread about them a couple of months ago when I got a previous issue. I got TOS a few years ago, for a couple of years, and then dropped it. And then got suckered in with one of their special deals so the mag was super cheap. The last couple of issues I've noticed a lot of 'keep them home where they belong' stuff and that really rubs me the wrong way. I was wondering if that was a newer stance that they've chosen to talk more about, or if it was always there and just didn't bother me a few years ago??? Either way, it's annoying, and their emails drive me up the wall. I send them to my spam folder now because they are always selling something and it's always over the top subject lines and it drives me crazy.
  12. A fascinating read on this topic is the book Confederates in the Attic. Really interesting stuff. One of the things he mentions in the book is something like 1 in 4 people living in the South today have direct ancestors that fought in the war, whereas in the North it's something like 1 in 20. So for people in the south, it's directly related to their history, so it's something they want to keep alive.
  13. Even if you're right, what about them dumping out all the milk? That has nothing to do with permits, and they're charged with a conspiracy to sell raw milk. It's not just a permit issue. The whole thing is ridiculous. I can't even think about it b/c it makes me so mad.
  14. I'm a night owl, dh is not. :glare: and I do like having my evenings to relax. I have found that I get more done during the day once I'm up early. I agree!!! He drives me up a wall. sigh. probably not. That seems to be a consensus here, so I guess I need to eat more. I get really lax on lunch and snacks for me b/c it seems like I'm always cooking and I just get burned out on dealing with food and meals :tongue_smilie: I wish I could!!! I started c25k this summer, and pulled my achilles tendon, and then hurt my knee.....I've never exercised before in my life. So my dh figured I just didn't have any muscles built up to do any kind of running, so I started this to help that, so I don't hurt myself seriously. oh that's the best part of p90x. You rotate every day. So yesterday my butt and legs were super sore, and today it's my arms and abs that are super sore, and tomorrow is crazy yoga x which means everything gets sore :D and then on Friday my legs and abs get to hurt gain. And I'm kind of a wimp, so super sore probably isn't that accurate :tongue_smilie: I guess I just need to eat more during the day. What a hassle, lol
  15. I don't know if this really goes along with the herbs and healing or not...and it's probably not super historical fiction :tongue_smilie: but I thought of it as I read your post...I loved this book growing up, and it's all nature-y and stuff, and fairly realistic/time-periodwise, LOL. My grandma had the book, and I don't know who ended up with it when she died. I still wish I had gotten it, and it's been 17 years. Especially when I just saw the price on amazon. :001_huh: Holy cow. Anyway, it's A Girl of the Limberlost
  16. were you really ornery when you first started? :tongue_smilie: Dh started doing p90x 7 weeks ago, and he's been getting up at 5:30 to do it before work. I started it with him last week. He has been grumpier than normal for most of the 7 weeks, and now so am I :glare: I don't know if it's the getting up early (sometimes I go back to bed or take a nap) or having super sore muscles allll the time, or if we're detoxing junk in our sweat or what. We're out of our good multivitamins, so I'm going to buy some more of those and see if that helps, but I don't know if I can keep this up once school starts. I don't want to be so on edge all day when we are doing school.
  17. Do you already have a Dyson? It can be used on carpet and hardwood, and they have awesome extensions to do stairs. I wouldn't buy another one just for hardwood and stairs. Unless it's just so you can have another one on another level and not have to haul it around.
  18. So this is a 16 or 18 yo girl, and people are asking her that? And asking your dd's that? I think it's a tad rude at that age. It's one thing if someone is 25 and it's fairly common to have a significant other by that age. But I wouldn't expect a 16 or 18 to have someone like that, and I wouldn't want them to think they have to have someone special at that age. I would be annoyed by it.
  19. We have Castle Keep and Forbidden Island and those are both fun. Dh and I have to keep our mouth's shut and let them figure out what we should do for Forbidden Island, or else it's really easy and boring for us....but when we let them plan the moves, half the time we all die, so that makes it more exciting, LOL.
  20. I was just looking these up the other day. If you look on cbd, they have sample pages and toc you can look at.
  21. I have the same phone, only it's the Optimus V b/c I got it from Virgin Mobile and not Sprint...I love it. It's my first cell phone in 11 years, lol, so I love it even more. The virtual keyboard is pretty handy..sometimes it drives me nuts with misspelling. I use the google reader all the time for blogs. I have the Kindle and Google books app, but so far haven't really used them. The only app that I might pay for is a pdf reader one...There aren't any good free ones and it's really driving me nuts not to have one. You'll want to get JuiceDefender. It minimizes what programs run in the background so it saves a ton of battery juice.
  22. I have a really good memory, but I'm not organized at all. I'm trying to be school-wise, but other than that, not really.....why do I need to be super organized, when I remember where everything is? :D Mine could be b/c I have synesthesia and I use that a lot for memorizing stuff, so maybe I'm not the typical good memory person???
