  1. Regarding the Ellen McHenry items, maybe it's that there are two items in Botany? There's a teacher's guide and a student text. That could be the mysterious fourth item. :) I have Mapping the World with Art on my wishlist for as my kids get older so I will probably do the build your own option to get this and her others since it's such a great deal. I'll probably get the Writing Guides for Children as number four and not sure what else.
  2. I think you need to start an email notification list, lol! You are always posting about great sales. I'm going to start stalking you!! In a nice way, of course!
  3. That's a great deal, then, I might join for a few months at least. I want: Our Island Story The Collected Stories of Winnie the Pooh SWB's History of the Ancient World and the next two D'Aulaire's Book of Greek Myths Also maybe some of the Apologia science and worldview, and some of the Great Courses. I'm making a wishlist. :) All of these would be pretty expensive without the membership.
  4. Thank you so much for this! I caught the tail end of the sale and ended up spending over $100 on some really great books! I'm very excited, we'll be living on the road soon and this is perfect! Question about membership: If I do the free trial (I really want the dramatised Winnie the Pooh collection that is $28!), and then I pay $14.95 per month do I get to choose any book for my free book each month? Or does it have to be valued at $14.95 or less? Just confused how the credits work.
  5. The good part, though, is that sometimes they take long enough to get here that I have forgotten what I ordered. So opening packages is quite fun!
  6. I ordered from RR last week as well. We could place bets! Will yours get to you in NZ first or mine to me in Australia? Mine was a big box, though. :)
  7. Thank you for this! I was confused because I always choose 'Insert Printout' from within OneNote and there are no options like that available. But from these instructions I realised you can do it from the pdf instead, something I never knew before! Yay!!!!
  8. You all are awesome. I posted this, went and did some schoolwork with the kids, came back to all these replies. Lots to research now! :001_wub:
  9. We haven't stayed in a hotel room since there were only four of us. :) We are headed to America for a month later this year. Trying to work out accommodation. Will most hotels require us to have two hotel rooms? The kids will be ages one to ten. For a period of ten days or so we will be in one place so looking at a suite with a kitchen for that part. We're trying to figure out if it will be cheaper to rent an RV for a month but not sure we want to go that route. Any advice?
  10. I'm so glad that his siblings got to hold him! Having that time together as a family is so, so special. I'm sorry for your loss. :grouphug:
  11. I recently paid $35 for a pair of shoes. Other than flip-flops or generic crocs I rarely buy shoes so it felt like a lot of money! Then it got me thinking about a former co-worker who was lamenting over the damage done to her $600 pair of heels. And it just made me curious. What's the most you've spent on a pair of shoes for yourself? Not something required for a uniform or sport or medical reason, but just because you wanted them? C'mon, fess up! ;) I think the most I've ever spent is about $70 for a decent pair of running shoes. That was many years ago. :) I'm not even gonna ask if you wear them in the house or not. :D
  12. I didn't know those were there, either. I've learned much today. Bed bugs in library books, even!
  13. I didn't know bed bugs could be in books until this thread. Yuck!
  14. What are the regular prices on these? Just curious.
  15. If they are teacher's manuals I don't print, just view on my ipad. If I need to print for the kids I proclick them, but I have the A4 version (are you in an A4 country?) which is a clickman. I got my clickman from Amazon UK and the spines from ebay.
  16. This is mind-boggling to me for a different reason...I can't remember the last time I returned something. :D
  17. These are great. The writing station page made me laugh, because my ds crams all the words into one sentence instead of writing a sentence for each word. He comes up with some pretty creative sentences that way. ;) I let him get away with it as long as it makes sense and he's spelling the words correctly. :)
  18. Not long ago I bribed my kids to get rid of some things. ;) As in, I paid them. It's easier than a garage sale but this way they still get some money for it. :) And yes, they want to put that money toward new toys but they have to save up for them, so the rate of toys going out of the house is faster than that coming in. We're going to do a big cull soon and I'm going to start with pick your five favourite toys and put them in this box, and then choose five to give away, now choose five more favourites, etc and see how that goes. I find older siblings were happy to 'give away' things to their younger siblings. They don't want to give them completely away but are happy to have them boxed up for when baby is older.
  19. http://teacherexpress.scholastic.com/dollardeals I'm not trying to be an enabler or anything. ;)
  20. Anyone else? Is it just me? I had probably 20 items in my wishlist, history items and such that I was waiting to purchase when we are studying those time periods or things for when my kids are older. Their search function is so abysmal that I used the wishlist so that I didn't have to try to find them again. :glare: Ergh. :toetap05:
  21. OneNote works well for me because of the tabs, it's similar to having different tabs open in an internet browser or different worksheets in Excel. I have different notebooks for homeschooling, vacation, house plans (for building a house one day), meal planning/household stuff. Homeschooling: First page is a To Do page, then a tab for each subject. Sub-pages as needed. So for science, the top page lists curriculum I own (because I forget) and lists of other curriculum to look at in the future (something I've heard of and want to research, or something for when the kids get older). For awhile we used Apologia. So I've got a main Apologia page, then sub-pages for the different books in the series. On these I've got the schedule I made in Excel inserted as a printout so I can see it from the ipad during our school day. I've got links to videos so I can click right to them from the ipad. Lists of books to read for each subject. Links to projects to do, and pictures of projects. I can link to my pinterest board, or back to links on this board. Basically anything and everything that has to do with the subject I can 'brain dump' it to that page. I have a page for homeschooling inspiration, and parenting inspiration, and when I come across nuggets of wisdom from these boards I copy and paste them onto these pages. It's so helpful. Vacation: Pages for different destinations. Links to websites, pics from websites, ideas about what time of year is best to visit. House plans: When I come across a plan I like I take a web clipping and insert it onto a page. If I'm on my ipad I take a screenshot and then insert the picture from my camera roll. Can make notes about what in particular I liked. Meal Planning/Household: Can save links to recipes, pics, etc. I've created a password protected tab to hold copies of passports, etc. A page to keep track of Christmas and birthday gifts. Timesaver tip: I realised I could take a photo with my ipad, insert it into OneNote and then open it on my pc and upload to fb. I've done this for items to sell or giveaway, really useful for me to avoid that step of importing it from my camera to my photo program. Means it gets done. :) The uses are just unlimited. Imagine being able to bring together all your resources for a subject into one place. That's what OneNote can do. A pdf file, an audio file, a link to these boards discussing the topic, a link to various websites, a word doc that you created about it...all put together in one place. It's fabulous. ;)
  22. That's what I was thinking...call it 'Tutor School' or something. If I were in a situation where I could no longer homeschool I'd go for this over public school.
