  1. I don't think either view is unreasonable. The trick is finding a date/bf/gf that agrees with your views on the subject.
  2. 1. Eat fruit and veggies before I bring the main course. (This is due to one child's eating problems and another's drama issues) 2. Sit in the chair and face the table or you will have to clean up the mess on the floor. 3. Clean up the mess on the floor. 4. You can't get up to play, get stuff, draw a picture,or swing and expect your food to be hot. We have no micro/toaster and I'm not recooking plated food.
  3. Kohls has a sale and I saw several types of Bermuda shorts there today. Target seemed all short shorts in the girl section but some cute colored bermudas in the boys.
  4. It is a high school Spring sport in my area. In the summer and early fall there is a club season open to teens and adults. I have rowed in New York during the Summer Club season so it's probably an option near you.
  5. I took her recommendation for Austen at that level to mean her poetry. I have a kindle version and Austen is listed between Blake, Wordsworth, and Tennyson. I just created my book list for next year and was not familiar with her poetry.
  6. My oldest went at 7or 8. She already had the songs memorized. She LOVED it! I wouldn't have taken her sisters to see it at that age. They wouldn't have been as interested (or as well behaved)and it's pricey! It wasn't her first musical experience and we went to the matinee so she wouldn't be tired.
  7. Creative Writer says it's for middle grades but I haven't used. The 7 year olds are young for IEW. I'm fairly certain they say second grade at the youngest. I wouldn't be too concerned at all with them doing WWE and FLL with AAS next year. Which books is the 9 year old using? If she is in the first books than I'd say no not enough. If she is doing the third books next year then I'd call it good. Those along with AAS would cover Grammar, Spelling, Dictation, and Narration. If they Really want some creative writing then I'd look at the bravewriter poetry teatime and free writes. We use CAP's writing and rhetoric series. A motivated kid could do those pretty independently.
  8. Eggs and avacado Chicken and garlic mayo with cucumbers Bacon and lettuce salad Steak and peppers Salami and cream cheese
  9. We use math mammoth when they need more practice. We do not use the whole curriculum. They work on the types of problems they need extra practice with.
  10. Fudge series Toys go out series (easy reads) Dick King Smith books Fortunately, the milk Wayside School series 13 story tresshouse series
  11. Scholastic has inexpensive Ebooks that can be printed out. My girls all enjoyed filling them out.
  12. Chocolate and an animal from WWF When little my girls were really into Max and Ruby. We still have an Easter book staring Max and Ruby, that gets read every year. In it the Easter bunny leaves them a chocolate chicken. I happened to find a chocolate chicken that year, 2009. Now every year I must hunt for a chocolate chicken.
  13. I bought my first house with my husband at age 22 in 2003. It was $115k with no down payment. Bad bad bad choice. By 2010 it was worth $50k. It is slowly rising in value but I doubt it will ever be worth $115k. We currently rent it out.
  14. Yes!!!! I hate it so so so much. My girls play this way with our neighbor. I really dislike when they tell the other person what to say. "I was walking down the corridor and Snape jumps out and you say "watch out! He's behind you" and then I'll say blah blah blah" They will jump on our trampoline for an hour making up the game and never actually play. It wouldn't be so horrible if there wasn't also whining and fighting about storylines. This is less of a problem if the neighbor isn't around.
  15. Morning time for us is basically Memory Work, Latin chants, and Story Time. I try to get it done first thing but if we wake up late it gets moved to after lunch. Memory work follows a schedule. Monday: presidents States & capitals World geography Tuesday: old poem, current poem, current science Wednesday: old poem, current poem, current science Thursday: review grammar Friday: old poem, current poem, current science Saturday: CC timeline song Sunday: review of science memory work This year we did SOTW2 and most of our Reading came from that. We've been doing a lot of Shakespeare for the past couple months. I am still unsure what we will be reading next year. I haven't checked out Volume 3 yet. I would like to add picture or composer study next year. Those have really fallen by the wayside this year. I'm hoping to pick up a couple of those classical orchestra cd's Pam Barnhill has mentioned on her podcast.
  16. I'm really sorry, I'd be so mad too. ðŸ™
  17. I would consider it a problem if she cannot add 46+9 by breaking up the 9. Example: If she had to start at 46 and then use her fingers to count up 9 more. So If she has to count up from the number every time that's when I would make a change. Using fingers to keep track of skip counting wouldn't bother me at all.
  18. I think it is unreasonable to expect a 5th grader to be completely competent at teaching math lessons but a fine thing to work on. I do ask my daughters to teach back lessons on occasion.
  19. The Hands on Equations App is my daughters' current favorite extra. We have also been getting to the guided drawing lessons from Kids Art Hub a lot more recently. Setting up to do the Lego Robin tonight!
  20. I would do OPGTR or Phonics Pathways. Both are easy, inexpensive, and comprehensive. IMO I would also break the work up with other activities or do them throughout the day. Phonics Program of you choice 15-20 minutes -storytime w/ mom- ETC 15-20 minutes -math- Reading aloud to you 15-20 minutes Narration/copy work
  21. Yes!!! We came up to Traverse City for the snow. There's still a bit left thank goodness! Still lots of people out in shorts and t-shirts. Lol Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  22. Anyone have great ideas for geography at a co-op for middle school grades? Looking for all ideas at this point! Thanks ðŸ‘
