  1. I hate cold weather. I walk around all winter complaining about the cold. Hate it, I tell you! Below 60, and I am miserable. However, I will not put the thermostat above 60 either. I hate paying a high gas bill more than I hate the cold. So I bundle up all winter.
  2. I guess I should technically vote "other". I have a tree with white lights, a few ornaments that are special to me, and other ornaments that match my Christmas "theme". The kids have a tree with colored lights and all of their ornaments. I try to get them at least one ornament each year that they can later take with them when they move out or get married. But, I am much too particular about the "look" to put just any ornaments on my tree! Call me OCD if you like...I can take it! :D
  3. See, this is exactly what I was thinking...except for the whole American weirdness thing...since I am American (but no less weird! :001_smile:) Stuffing is what you eat at Thanksgiving, and dressing is what you put on your salad.
  4. I want a new itouch (not iphone) and a new vacuum cleaner. I will probably end up with a vacuum, because it is more "needed" than an itouch. I would also love new workout clothes, and a KitchenAid Mixer. I can always dream big!!
  5. At home, dogs. In the wild, birds. At the zoo, monkeys (or primates of any sort) or lions
  6. Hey, thanks for the heads up! I got some great gift ideas from the Life is Good site! I love their stuff!! Off to order mugs!! :D
  7. How many of you use your garage for the car? Or is it a family/playroom? If you use it as an extra room, how do you heat it? I have thought about doing this, but this is my first time having a garage - ever - and have enjoyed it so far. So, what about you? what works best for your family?
  8. If your den and dining room look that wonderful when you are done, would you mind heading on over here and giving me a hand! They look great!
  9. I haven't read all the replies, although I have read enough to realize I am going to be in the minority, a bit! My 12 year old wears lip "gloss" - which is more like a glorified chapstick. But she is getting mascara in her stocking this year. She has big, beautiful eyes, and we tried some on her a few weeks ago to try to tame those curly lashes. And she loved it! The mascara keeps her lashes from curling into her eyes. I bought clear, and hopefully this will tame the make-up monster for her for a while. Other than that, though, she wears no make-up. And has never asked to. So we'll have to see when we finally cave in. I do remember putting make-up on for the first time as a teen. My mother was against it, but my dad told her to let me try it. Go figure - my dad was very cool!
  10. I love it because my dh is the youth pastor at our church, and it is very simple to keep up with is going on in our youths' lives.
  11. We are Titus 2 Christian Academy. Titus 2, because I was studying that particular scripture when I really felt the need to homeschool our kids. Christian, because we are. :) And Academy because I liked how it sounded. Here in NC you have to name your school and can't change the name later, so I wanted it to be something that would sound good on a diploma. I have a friend whose school is Magnolia School and I love that. Think of your interests, make a list, and go from there. Like Peek said - list them here and maybe we could help you. I love a good project! :D
  12. My dd says she wishes we had called her by her middle name, Brooke. Which is funny because I grew up being called by my middle name and hated it. My oldest ds like the names Michael and Christopher (or at least used to). My youngest ds...I don't think he has ever said...he did have an imaginary friend named Jackson (and my ds's middle name is Jack). I think he really likes that name.
  13. I said yes, but it has to be a really great deal. I don't go out every year. And I do not do the early morning stuff!
  14. A cheap pen, preferably one that I have "stolen". Seriously, don't let me borrow a pen, or you may not get it back. I seem to be a klepto when it come to them. Cheap shoes - flip flops in every color!!
  15. What is that with these dogs. Our BC is obsessed with squirrels, and would lick our skin off if we sat still long enough! Gotta love 'em!
  16. Let me preface this by saying, I haven't read all the replies. That said, we have a Border Collie/lab mix. If you were to come to my house, you would call her a Border Collie, as she looks just like one. But her personality is that of a Lab. So, I join the camp of recommending a Lab, or Lab mix. I love my BC, and have jumped through many hoops to get to keep her over the last few years, with our various moves. We also have a Mini-Poodle/Jack Russell mix who is very sweet, but I think would be too tiny for younger kids. We just got a Sheltie mix puppy and she is a very sweet, well-behaved (so far) girl. So I guess what I am saying is...don't overlook those mix-breeds out there. They are often calmer than their pure-bred cousins. Good Lick!
  17. My house is neat because I work very hard to keep it that way. And although my life is by no means perfect, I don't feel as out of control as I have in the past. So for me, 'Life is Good!'
  18. Yes, she was a surprise, and believe me - that boy LOVES me today!! That is one happy child. Gives new meaning to the phrase "Puppy Love"
  19. If I remember correctly, TEA was a substitution for another three letter word that most of us also enjoy from time to time. I, for one, only enjoy TEA about once a week. But there are some who enjoy TEA every day. And there are those who dislike TEA, but strive to MAKE TEA for their spouse's sake. wink, wink, wink!! Get it? :D
  20. Oh my goodness! What a cute girl! Heidi is one of the names we threw around today as a name for our new girl. Congrats and enjoy!
  21. We got her today, and she is as sweet as can be. Her name is Disney, and we'll call her Dizzy. Enjoy!
  22. I hope this works. I am going to try to attach a picture of my son's choice today. He ended up getting a puppy instead of the older dog we thought we would get. And she is a doll! He has named her Disney and calls her Dizzy.
  23. Thanks ladies!! Great advise so far. I hadn't though about tiring her out before she comes in!
