  1. We are currently doing FIAR which has a little science and art, but I'd like to add in a little more. I'd like to get a science experiment type book and a beginning art skills book. I want something that only requires basic household items/art supplies. And it would also be great if my 2.5 year old could join in as well. Here are a few ideas I've been looking at that: Janice VanCleave Teaching the Fun of Science to Younger Learners Janice VanCleave Big Book of Play and Find Out Science Projects Mudpies to Magnets or More Mudpies to Magnets Little Hands Art Book Scribble Art Please let me know if you've used one of these or if you have another recommendation for me! TIA!
  2. We have used them before, although I think the name was different? Anyway, to move our tiny apartment (650 sq ft, 2 bd) we definitely needed 2. We've actually moved that way twice and always had a good experience. And yes, moving is so exhausting!:grouphug: ETA: I looked it up and we used U-Pack. http://www.upack.com/about/compare-portable-storage.asp
  3. This is an article I recently read that has a lot of good ideas for free books. http://www.latter-dayhomeschooling.com/2012/03/free-books-at-your-fingertips.html
  4. I can't decide if that is cool or just a little bit creepy :)
  5. I second the Sansa Clip. Ours went through the washer and still works! (Headphones died though) ETA: It does have separate divisions for podcasts and audiobooks.
  6. This is something I've been thinking about downloading for DS. http://www.currclick.com/product_info.php?manufacturers_id=141&products_id=21231&it=1&filters=0_0_0&manufacturers_id=141
  7. You forgot the option for "I spell it dilemna and I'm not changing even though everyone thinks I'm crazy!"
  8. I am 25, public-schooled in TX, and spell it dilemna. If I remember correctly, I think I learned it that way for UIL Spelling. When spelling it I pronounce the N in my head, but out loud pronounce it dilemma.
  9. It did that to me too, but I was eventually able to register.
  10. :iagree:The kids at DS's preschool can do "homework" if they like, and I see the kids that do it love bringing in their scribbled-on pages to get another worksheet. DS does not need any homework though.
  11. I downloaded the Kindle program for PC and am looking at the books that are available. There are several that have color images. I'm wondering how these look on an actual Kindle (not fire). Are they grayscale or do they show them at all?
  12. Thanks! I'll bookmark this. You're able to download books while you're out of the country.
  13. We're going to live in Mexico for a year and I'm thinking about getting a Kindle so I don't run out of books to read. I did some searching and it sounds like the Kindle is the only ereader that works internationally. I'm wondering though if I will be able to find books for DS as well. (age 5) Are there books available for that age? Free would be preferred, but I wouldn't mind spending some money.
  14. Thanks, Salsa Spanish sounds like something he would like! I will check it out. Sending him to school is a possibility but I'm not sure yet. Our library here has a good selection of foreign language material here so I will look through that when I go this week. Thanks again!
  15. We're going to be living in Mexico City for a year starting in January and I'm wondering if anyone has recommendations for a Spanish program for my soon-to-be 5yo. I'm not sure if I want to buy something or just use whatever I can find at the library. TIA!
  16. I just tried a couple and now my legs and arms hurt a little bit. (I'm 25.) I should probably exercise once in a while.
