  1. Years ago I worked in a Christian preschool where the three year olds had memorized Psalm 23. So I believe it is never too young, once they are speaking, that is.
  2. Drop Acid. Really. Once was way more than enough. (Need I say this was a long, long time ago...?)
  3. Getting my morning hug from my daughter. When my boy puts his arm around me and hugs me. Being at the ocean. Being in the ocean. A nice big glass of red wine.
  4. me too. And I would love to see her littles. Bet they're cute.
  5. I have decided to plan to spend a week in Tahoe this coming August so my kids can participate in this camp. Anybody else ever done it? I love Tahoe, but the kids have not been yet, so this is a good excuse to spend a week out of the desert heat and do some fun learning also. I plan to rent a cabin or condo for the week...any leads on a cheap place would be fabulous. http://www.laketahoeshakespeare.com/education/midsummer_camp
  6. A few nice board books, a beautiful copy of Mother Goose and maybe a Journal for mama.
  7. The kids and I visited an Orthodox church my ex husband has decided to join a few times. Besides what everyone else has said, I would not go if you have any respiratory issues. This particular building had no circulation and the incense was strong and suffocating.
  8. Congrats, Joanne. What an accomplishment. And, correct me if I am wrong, but is it not so much that they are aphasic people, as people with Aphasia, people with dementia, etc? At least that is how things were stressed in Special Education. Have fun!
  9. All of these comments are very helpful, especially specifically what helped and what did not, and also, Heather, to not always be authoritative. Reading the women is a skill I am working on. And I will check with the hospital re. plugging in the crockpot.
  10. That's a tough call. Would you really actually do and sustain a big garden? I hate having to run the air, and would love some trees for shade. What does the hubs think? Have you got the $1000 extra to get rid of the tree? Do your burn wood for heat? If so, a big oak would probably save you bunches in firewood costs, or could you sell the wood?
  11. Thanks for sharing this. So good to know. I have a very hard time not being authoritative, which is partly why I believe I have found my calling. So awesome you got to experience the euphoria......!
  12. Thanks for sharing. So good to know. I'd read about a male doula who brings a crockpot with him full of towels, but I think I am going to whip up some rice socks and bring the crockpot to warm them because that sounds so comforting to me.
  13. The scheduling is a bit tricksy, I'm seeing. A gal overseeing my training told me I should not have any other jobs....but I can't necessarily count on a certain amt. of income from doulaing either, so not sure exactly how this works out. But, I agree. As I doula I need to be completely available to my clients.
  14. Thanks for the vote of confidence, Heather. I would love to ask a few questions regarding this client..if you are able and willing, would you pm me?
  15. Aw, thanks so much for all of this, Karyn! So, so good to know your experience was good.
  16. Excellent work son! And thanks for the update. I am praying also.
  17. Tell me the good and bad(if any) of it. I've got my first client coming up in April!
  18. Lie to Me Friday Night Lights Both rated pg13 at least(imho)
  19. I like your house and your style, but am stumped as to how this is all Zen?
  20. Well, I'm glad to hear the problem has been solved for now, but several years ago I felt like I was going deaf in one ear. No matter what I did, including having it irrigated at the dr.s office, I could not get my ear unplugged. Finally I went to a specialist and found out that there was FUNGUS growing in there. I kid you now. Dr. said it is not that uncommon. Well, he had some special tools and eventually dug it all out, but, geez, talk about gross!
  21. Praying the fever ceases, and son is diagnosed accurately...that momma and the rest of the family can rest.
  22. These big questions have existed forever.... and the answers, if indeed we can find answers, do not please all. I believe that it is fine to ask these questions, but I do not believe that we can fully understand all of God's ways and means. Some might call this a cop out. No matter. The idea of Free Will is not something I can clearly explain because the Bible does not teach us that we are free apart from Christ. We are told that we are slaves to sin, and born into sin. I have lived with myself long enough to accept from experience that I am in fact totally unable to do good apart from the Grace of God working in me. Yes, I am a wretch. Why some are chosen to believe and some are not is beyond my understanding. Can the clay say to the pot, "Why have you made me thus?" I think not. Ours is not to question why, in my experienced opinion. I am to love and to know that I am His and to tell of His marvelous works. I leave the rest for my wise Father to understand and execute.
