  1. We have read the SOTW for fun too many times to use it as the spine lol
  2. Thank you everyone. Its a tough decision but I really think I will try. Learning all I can about after-schooling!
  3. I am just so tired of fighting upstream against the current of EVERYONE including my husband. Every single person in my life (except my son and I and fellow homeschoolers of course) constantly blame every hiccup in life on homeschooling. I am just so very tired and think I might put my son in PS for third grade. I feel guilty either way as my son is VERY opposed to going to PS but I am burnt out trying to homeschool to please the masses. My son is very social so I have him in co-ops and to keep costs down I'm teaching as well. I also have 3 year old twins and I am not meeting ANYONE's needs let alone my own. I'm worried he will be labeled ADHD, worried that I don't have him writing enough, worried we will lose the great bond we have developed. But on the other hand he is bored at home unless I have a constant revolving door of playdates, co-op classes and park days and I am an introvert. sigh.
  4. I love Spelling City - it now has an Ipad app so he can use it on the computer or the IPad!
  5. exploring the biome through living books at a deeper level and doing all the experiments:) and crafts.
  6. Jack and I are using Real Science 4 Kids pre-Biology once a month with a co-op so I wanted to find something we could use more often that would complement this, not be overwhelming but still add content. This has become our favorite part of the week! Its a chapter book about twins who travel to various biomes and discover different animals along the way!! Tons of Fun :):D
  7. I don't use the grading function but I keep track of his read alouds and self reads as well as attendance and lesson planning! LOVE LOVE LOVE. and they just made the field trip record easier - you can add the field trip and add the students to it rather than having to add each child sep. :001_smile:
  8. he is so distracted:glare: its killing me. Literally for every problem he does he makes 4 not on topic asides. I can be in mid sentence explaining something and he points to a picture and says "That is cool" or asks me if tea is good for him?!?!?!?! I just officially lost it on him. Makes me doubt if homeschooling is what I should be doing after all.
  9. :001_huh: I bought 2A of the Home Instructors Guide, the Textbook and the Workbook (US addition) and I can't figure out how the HIG and the Textbook work together.
  10. I was just coming on the ask about add ons for SOTW 2 for my 7 year old son. I loved the lists I just saw for Book 1 so as a continuation what books do you suggest for Book 2? Thank you!!:)
  11. I am having trouble discerning what the difference is between Singapore US in a and Singapore Standards. Any insight would be very welcome!:)
  12. so some of that is new to my son and some reinforcement. thank you!
  13. Is it just harder first grade with no new "concepts"?
  14. I stumbled across this free resource and it is FANTASTIC :) http://ceure.buffalostate.edu/~csmp/CSMPProgram/Primary%20Disk/Start.html
  15. My twins are turning 3 next month and I'm thinking ahead to next fall. Also can you just buy the manual? I have all the manipulative:confused: I need!
  16. and jack loved the passport I made him to go along with each story!
  17. but so worth it! I just picked up the K age class to teach and my son is in the 6/7 year old class so we both use it constantly. I like that it is easier to move through the subjects. The history has an added blurb to read as well.
  18. I'm feeling like his educational:tongue_smilie: future rests on this one decision! Probably because I am not very good at math MYSELF and he ADORES IT!
  19. This year I started with RS and he loved it but I panicked around December that he was not moving fast enough and switched to CLE. I supplement with MM. Now I am in a tizzy that I am doing him a disservice regarding his mental math progress. I could care less if a program is religious or not as long as he is not being held back and I am able to teach him. The boy carries around a calculator for fun in case he thinks up a multiplication problem he might want to know... he is 7. And I ave not even LOOKED at SM but from what I'm reading maybe I should. I am a but overwhelmed!
