  1. I'm sure this has been discussed to death, but I've been away for a long time and couldn't find it on a search. I did 6 weeks on/1 week off when the big kids were young and we schooled year round. How do you schedule this? Anyone do it with high schoolers? Anyone squeeze it in without going completely year round? I'm thinking 8/1 with June and August free and an intense study in July when it's usually dullsville here. Thoughts?
  2. Doubly blessed with a good price and the opportunity to get rid of all that accumulated junk. I have often wished that I had to move just so I would be forced to clean out the attic and basement. Best wishes on that house!
  3. or one that doesn't swing wildly to the left or right, just a basic national newspaper. It's time to get one back in the house for the kids to read. In the past I used the LA Times and Wall Street Journal, but I honestly haven't looked at either one ina few years. I've been taking a media, including internet, break.
  4. Aww honey, my heart goes out to you. It will get better and if you can sleep through today and tomorrow you'll be much improved on day 4. Keep your head elivated, it will reduce swelling and pain. Prop pillows or stay in a recliner if you have one. Did they give you anything with codene? Eat rice or other starches before the meds to help with the nausea. Let us know how it's going.
  5. Praying and you know what they say, the last thing you should pack is your sense of humor and be sure it's the first thing you unpack. Best wishes!
  6. Male tappers are gold and often get discounted tuition at studios. Ask around and find out what studios compete and then google those competitions, along with the studio name, to see their placement in tap competitions. If he's going into tap, he should start at the best and those studios will also have the most respect for male tappers. The mother should talk to the director, too, as most of them will work with concerned parents of little boys to make the situation comfortable because they are that valuable. Best wishes to your friend.
  7. :grouphug: Society really pushes people to give up their fertility quickly and without guilt. You were unwittingly influenced, so don't beat yourself up over it. If you can scrap together the money, give the reversal a try. At least that way you won't be second guessing your decision constantly. I started having children a little later than most and happily had kids throughout my 30s and early 40s. Best wishes to you.
  8. Our kids loved Paul Fleisher's "Secrets of the Universe" in 8th. I'm always remotivated by reading books on homeschooling from a completely different perspective from my own. I usually take away a few new ideas and recommit to things I already held dear.
  9. A few of my older kids who didn't like Saxon 1/2 used it over a 1.5 year period and they did just fine in algebra. If the spiral approach isn't working, I'd recommend BCM.
  10. Orthodox Church had their own little re-formation some 500 years earlier, so not quite the original but at least they kept the Sacraments and most of the Truth.
  11. Glad you were able to see her true colors before leaving her alone with your kids.
  12. Oh dear! Saying a prayer for you. Keep your cell phone on you. I bet he's out of your area, otherwise the police would still be everywhere. They must know the direction that most of them head once they get out and I doubt they stay closeby.
