  1. That's wonderful! Congratulations!! :hurray:
  2. Melissa, I hope you get your car back today:) Looks like a thunderstorms on and off today, probably work on school stuff Package books, go to Post Office Laundry Meals Clean something Kid's program at church (can't wait to see what they think of our Babylonian theme:) Dinner: BLT's and fries
  3. I have no suggestions, just wanted to say "enjoy!". What a wonderful opportunity.
  4. Our inground pool was a selling point for this house. I wanted a pool for the kids and grandkids. Dh does all the maintenance, I don't think the chlorine etc. cost more that about $200-$300 a summer. He bought one of those Polaris cleaners on Craigslist for a great price and that has saved him tons of maintenance time he used to spend cleaning the pool. As far as electric goes, it costs us less to cool our house than it does to heat it (electric heat pump) so I don't see a jump in our electric in the summer, it actually goes down. We have not had to replace anything major yet; knowing that that is coming up probably sooner than later.
  5. Oh Angi, so sorry to hear about the boyfriend, so sad! Breakfast: considering blueberry muffins which will make it more like brunch til they are done Done Laundry one done, one working Finish cuneiform poster ( hope none of those kids can actually READ cuneiform! ;) Done Quick store stop (stopped at Target instead and came home with 2 pairs of shorts PLUS what else was on my list) Church to finish up kids program decor Done Post Office to mail out sold curriculum, YAY! My mother is hosting a family dinner for an out of town relative we don't see very often and I'm bringing the salad Facilitate boys lessons (math and latin) don't really have to do much there Done That's it, have a great day ladies!!
  6. I am so glad that you shared this! ES Logic Earth is what I have settled on for this year, but then I was having second thoughts, ugh! Are there suggestions for the science dvds/readings in the curriculum or did you find those on your own? Just curious, I can't tell by the sample on the website. I have high hopes of science getting done in my house too this year:)
  7. This is awesome! Thank you for taking the time to do this, Ruth!
  8. I am usually in bed by 10 if not before. I read one chapter, if I'm lucky, and then cannot keep my eyes open any longer. If I'm having a good night, I'll sleep until 5-5:30. If I'm having sleeping issues, I'll wake up anywhere between 1 and 3 and not be able to fall back asleep. Either way, I get up by 5:30am. Dh often stays up to watch some baseball game and will come to bed anywhere between 11 and 1. He usually sleeps until 7am. The weekends don't change our schedule much.
  9. Ha! I know what you mean. Mine loves them for scrubbing the line around the pool. He loves his pool to be very clean and sparkly. I do not help with that in any way whatsoever.
  10. Kathryn, I'm so sorry. It must be hard for both of you. Praying that the other children would be compassionate and your ds will have a wonderful week at VBS.
  11. I allow my boys to "test out" of the first few chapters of TT. They can usually do 2-3 before we get to new material. That's gives us a quick start in the fall.
  12. Mid-day check in: Luckymama, that wedding sounds wonderful! I love when I can just be a guest at an event like that and not have any responsibilities. So fun;) Amy, so neat about your friends adoption. It's a wonderful thing;) Laundry mostly done; still have to hang my jeans to air dry Lunch done Quick cleaned both downstairs bathrooms Have to do: Latin with boys (just watch DVD but I do it with them) Put dinner in crockpot work on objectives? poster for kids program
  13. We may possibly be going to Paris next summer; listening in!;)
  14. :grouphug: Jenny :grouphug: I know how hard it is. You did a good job, Mama. Rejoice in that and eat as many cupcakes as you like :thumbup1: .
  15. Chik-fil-A is my first choice, although we only go there when traveling, we don't have one close to us. Which is probably a good thing. Sonic. Ugh! I only get cherry limeades there and only when I have a ton of patience. Our is the slowest Sonic known to man. I once, and I am not lying to you, fell asleep behind the wheel while waiting inline at the drive-thru. Subway would be right up there too. Doesn't feel like "fast food" to me, quite as much. We don't do much fast food because of preservatives, etc. But, on occasion we do give in.
  16. Anna Karenina was on LAST summer's list, never made it. Ugh. Oh well, guess it's not going anywhere. I'll get there. Might not be til my boys read it in high school, but I'll get there :001_rolleyes: .
  17. I hope you get that nap in, Kathryn. Sleep is SO important when you have littles. Jean, I need to work on our summer schedule too, hopefully this week. Hoping to get my walk in this morning, weather permitting Boys have less than 10 TT math lessons and 2 more Latin lessons to finish before we can start our summer schedule Work on objectives and misc. paperwork for school district, get that submitted. Continue to list curriculum for sale so I can buy new;) Clean something Laundry Meals Make poster in cuneiform for kids program (ha! like I'm fluent in cuneiform:) Dinner: Sweet and Sour Crockpot Chicken, brown rice, veggies Happy Monday!!
  18. Back from decorating, it is going to look so awesome! Amy, our Wednesday kids' program is called Olympians, it's from Word of Life if you are familiar with that ministry. Similar to Awana's. We do something totally different in the summer and this year the lessons are on Daniel and so the theme is ..........wait for it.................Babylon:) So our church basement is well on it's way to becoming our version of Babylon. Ready to take my cup of decaf chai and sit out on the porch with a book and listen to the rain, ahhhhhhh! Then, dh and I will watch Saving Mr. Banks. Not sure if it's something I want the boys to see so we'll preview it first. Have a good night everyone!
  19. I thought I'd update with my 1st month experience with the blackstrap molasses. Actually, I started it exactly two weeks before my cycle. Cycle was much more manageable, definitely still there, but manageable. I also went out on what would be my worst day without any issues. That is a praise! Three normal days and then several days of more like spotting. But none of the horrible clotting; etc. that I normally experience. I'm going to continue with it; I don't think it can hurt and if it gets better, that's a huge plus! God bless you, JoAnn, for sharing it with us!
  20. :grouphug: LIzzie :grouphug: I am so sorry. Praying right now for your family.
  21. It has me longing for a housekeeper :D .
  22. Mrs. Twain, that certainly WAS a lot to type, but I'm so glad you did;) I've gotten some of my best ideas from you. The icivics is totally new to me, I will be checking that out for our 8th grade focus on civics. Thank you so much!
  23. Oh Jean, please get your rest today. It's Sunday, it's even biblical:) Church Lunch ( friend sent home a plate of wraps from grad party yesterday, can anyone say "lunch"?:) I'm supposed to help decorate the rooms we use for our summer Olympian program but no time scheduled; possibly this afternoon Start working on objectives and paperwork for school district Hopefully, some time outside on the deck with a good book Maybe a movie, if I stop at Redbox
  24. You've received some great advice. I hope you can have a heart to heart with your dh. He really needs to understand the reality of the situation. Your health needs come first! Just a comment on your original post; sending your dc to school is not necessarily putting them into a "more encouraging environment". You may wind up with more or at least different issues than you have now. Please take time to rest and enjoy your children. I vote summer vacation starts NOW! You will probably have a whole new perspective three months from now.
