  1. Back from doc appt ( you know the one we all try to avoid:P) only to be told that I should have a colonoscopy and get my cholesterol checked. Thank. You. Very. Much. On the brighter side, I did lose 5 lbs. since last year. :hurray:
  2. We loved Lark Rise! My husband as much as me, which I thought was funny. North and South and Wives and Daughters are good. I haven't gotten into Call the Midwives, if dh would ever give up the tv at night (baseball :glare: ) maybe I would.
  3. Oh, no! That's just horrible! Thank you for letting us know. I will be praying for a quick and complete recovery for Faith and her son.
  4. Good Morning! Tammy, we have your weather! I turned off the AC and opened the windows, ahh! I have a doc appt in the middle of the day so that sort of throws me off as to what I can get accomplished at home. Usual house upkeep meals and laundry I do have (at least one) closet I could work on (we'll see:) Dinner: Fish sandwiches (didn't have them last night) Kid's program at church
  5. Busy day with errands and watching the "fab four":) The upside is with all the walking I did, hit over 10,000 steps on my fitbit:)
  6. Errand day, they are calling for thunderstorms and I despise running errands in the rain, but it is what it is. Library Target Grocery Store meals, laundry Dinner: Fish Sandwiches and something to go with Watch 4 grandchildren so son and daughter-in-law can go to dinner for their anniversary:)
  7. We did the states and capitals this year and I'm finding that we have to constantly review or they forget. The boys just got a tablet for their bday, I'm going to look into that app. Thanks for the suggestion!
  8. Good Morning! I hope you are feeling MUCH better today, Jean! C has a dental appt. at 9am (can anyone tell me WHY I scheduled a dental appt. at 9am, what was I thinking?) 9. It's official, the boys have colds, but at least it's just a cold. Better this week than next when they go away to camp. Stayed home with them this morning and: Did some school planning Made lunch from leftovers Working on third load of laundry Finally finished the novel I've been reading Get ready to go to a special meeting at church and then home. Pretty lazy day but after the marathon of past 10 days, it felt good;)
  10. :grouphug: Jean :grouphug: I'm so sorry. I do hope you are feeling better today. After being with over 60 children last week at daycamp, both of my boys have colds this morning. One said he feels like he's going to throw up. Nice. Therefore, I may be staying home from church today. Already have sheets in the washer from beds grandsons slept in Lunch will be leftovers from yesterday's party House still looks good (amazingly) so this afternoon will be a freebie, not sure what I'm going to do yet:)
  11. Jean, I'm so sorry. I hope you are feeling better soon!
  12. Aw! My 15mo grandson is teething too, he kept trying to bite the wooden railing on our deck today!
  13. Party day:) Promised boys waffles for breakfast so have to get started on that Make to-do list so boys can help quick clean bathrooms One load of laundry prepare food for party Better get moving
  14. Last day of daycamp! :hurray: It's an exhausting week, but worth it. I don't know how mothers who work outside of the home do it. I cannot. Only meals, laundry and bare maintenance has been done this week. I've had two extra boys here all week (my 11 & 9 yo grandsons) and tomorrow is the twins 13th b-day party. I hope Sunday is truly a day of rest:)
  15. Counting down with you, Melissa! I hope your dh takes you out for a nice, quiet, just the two-of-you dinner. Well, that's what "I" would want, you may want something totally different:) We ended up with 34 people for our 4th of July party. Beautiful day, a tad windy. Dh tied the canopy/tent to the fence and it was a good thing, because the wind lifted it up and over the fence but it didn't go any further since it was tied down. I have today and most of tomorrow to recoup for next week, which is our church's day camp. I lead a class of 1-3rd graders from 9:15-3:15 Mon.-Fri. I will also have my two oldest grandsons here (11 &9 ) spending the week so they can attend day camp with us. It's a busy, exhausting week but a lot of these kids come from homes where they don't know the Lord, so, eternally speaking, it's worth it;) Need to run some errands, grocery store, a friend left some things behind after the party so dropping those off at her house. Laundry that I didn't do yesterday because of party Thinking through my week so that I can get out of the door every morning at 8:45 with four boys :willy_nilly: .
  16. Melissa, your story about your parents made me smile:) What a joy it is to be able to bless someone in this way. And yeah for dh being home in 5 days!! Expecting about 33 people here today, mixture of family and friends. Should be a fun time:) Make cinnamon rolls for breakfast (from a can, holiday tradtion:) Make calico beans for group quick clean public bathrooms quick vac main areas set up outdoors: tent, tables, chairs (guys will help with this) Organize food, paper products, etc. It's really wet here from all the rain we got yesterday afternoon/evening. Hopefully, the sun will come out and start to dry things up. Have a great day everyone!!
  17. Is it Thursday already? Today's tasks will mostly involve getting ready for our 4th of July party. 19. I'm looking for GOOD missionary biographies to add to our geography lessons this year. When I say "good", I mean well written, engaging. I know some missionary biographies can leave a lot to be desired. We've used MFW the entire way through the cycle so have already read quite a few. I will be reading these aloud to the boys (7th grade). So far I'm considering: Bruchko- South America Kisses from Katie-Uganda A Passion for the Impossible- Lilias Trotter - Algeria Shadow of the Almighty- Jim Elliot - Ecuador Any thoughts? Thanks;)
  20. Wow! That's quite a list, I think my 7th graders would faint:) Can you tell me more about the apps you mentioned for geography? My boys are getting an ipad for their b-day and I want to make it as much of an educational tool as a "fun" tool for them. Thank you!
  21. Melissa, I hope your dd feels much better today and that this last week until your dh is home goes by quickly! Welcome, Liza! Nothing exciting today Continue to work on projects to get ready for the party on the 4th Make grocery/errand list for tomorrow Sister and nephew may come to swim this afternoon School stuff? The usual; meals, laundry etc. Dinner: Cold Tuna Pasta Salad, blueberry or corn muffins, fruit (it's going to be a HOT today!) Watch US World Cup at 4 if I remember; forgot last time:P
  22. Yes, ouch! Ugh! Blueberry muffins done; one batch in freezer for next week one load of laundry in dryer boys' bathroom cleaned kitchen floor mopped Boys need to put chairs back in and I will start dinner shortly.
  23. Still deep in planning/purchasing mode here. Starting "school lite" the first two weeks in August, four days each. Incorporating Morning Time into our routine (really excited about this!) and Math and Latin review. We've been doing math and latin review all summer so that's nothing new. We have a family vacation the third week in August and then we'll start back full time last week of August. Hopefully, I will get into the schoolroom at some point to do a deep cleaning/organizing before we start back full-time.
  24. Good Morning! Welcome back, Lucky! Looking forward to that thread about your trip:) Laundry Make blueberry muffins to use up blueberries in fridge Clean 2 more downstairs windows, start upstairs tomorrow Clean boys bathroom Mop kitchen floor work on school stuff (i feel stalled here, need some divine inspiration) Start filling out calendar for July ( tomorrow is July 1st, can you believe it!?!) We have an annual 4th of July party that 30-40 people attend so I'll be doing stuff everyday this week to get ready for that. Dinner: Baked Sweet and Sour Chicken (new recipe) rice, limas
