Thanks! I have a couple dozen in the drawer and they get used all the time for everything. And I keep making more because it's just fun.
I have a particular hand towel pattern that I've made more than anything else because they're so much fun, and cotton yarn is cheap and colorful! I'm so excited this year because I finally found orange and black, so I can make Halloween towels!
Here, found it on Ravelry for free! I have the book it came from:

I like to mix a lot of solids and patterns and make sets of two with the yarns reversed.

Would love to eavesdrop! :001_smile:
Me too! Me too!
I've done the Bible in 90 days before, with the actual Bible set up for that. NIV. Now I'm doing The Message in 1 year. I've done NLT chronological and KJV 1 year. I like reading different translations and am always interested in comparisons.

Older kids here:
College rule loose leaf paper
Ticonderoga Noir pencils (they now will not touch anything else)
Spiral notebooks
Index cards
Highlighters
Colored gel pens
BIC blue pens
White Out
We're already stocked up on glue, cap erasers, Sharpies, we just replaced our Expo markers, sticky tabs... I can't think of anything else ATM. They might need new Prismacolors.

The birthday cake on that page belongs on Cake Wrecks.
Yikes. I hadn't seen that before, but... whoa.

There's Christian Homeschool Oasis on FB, but be sure to read the guidelines first - it is very against CC and any publicly affiliated schooling.

We're not far from Chattanooga and have visited many, many times, including for several gymnastics meets. This is terribly tragic.

For those who have mentioned Christian education, what resources have you used for apologetics, doctrine, etc? Are you having your kids read through the whole Bible yet?
-
Yes, absolutely! The girls didn't pick up any bad behaviors from them, and they were always among my childhood favorites.

Since May - 13+ blankets for donation. First pic is for the care center - bigger and more colorful blankets. Bottom left is a partial - I need another skein and it will be sewn into strips. Star shaped at the top was started last night.
These are for Now I Lay Me Down to Sleep - softer colors, smaller blankets, delicate stitches. I have yarn for 1-2 more and hope to send them off by the end of the month.
I also made four patriotic wreaths and two tiny freezer pop holders (not pictured):

I believe Rebecca was in the room with us when I had my 20 week with Sylvia. She would have been under 2. We had MIL along to help manage her, which was good because they found a few problems. Thankfully, we got our Sylvia just fine. :)

Mint chocolate chip all the way!!!
Moose tracks and rocky road would be next.

I get whatever is cheapest, which usually for my book choices means used physical books. I generally prefer real over e-books. I also can't do e-books for any kind of reference book.

Oh goodie! I browse ravelry a few times a year when I am looking for something or got "the itch," but I don't hang out there, especially during the school year. I like the idea of donating baby blankets. While I have done some fancier crochet, there is nothing like a nice mindless blanket pattern. I wonder what I will do when I run out of people to make them for, lol.
Now I Lay Me Down to Sleep takes very small, delicate, soft-colored blankets. Our local pregnancy care center takes bigger and more colorful ones. I ran out of people to make them for too, which is why I decided to crochet/knit for donation. It's so fun.
Here's another resource:

Metal needles are my favorite too. KnitPicks makes beautiful wood needles, but I get better speed with metal.

I have a 12 year old too. Just tossing that out there. :scared: Usually we let her know that if she wants to have such a terrible attitude, maybe we don't need to undertake the drive to gymnastics. Which straightens her up REAL FAST.

I have an old Kindle keyboard that is several years old. We have a Kindle Fire HDX, something like that, I don't remember. It's 1.5 years old and counting.

I hate gauge swatching with a passion. That's why I've been making blankets lately!

As long as the girls dress up and are well-mannered and mindful of littler kids, I don't have a problem with it. They turned 10 and 12 in March. ODD missed TOTing the year before last because of gymnastics practice, but I decided for her that she would TOT last year. (She often can't make choices herself, as weird as that sounds.)

I happened to come across this on FB today. Pretty cool!

Oh good! I was going to ask the same thing. I knit and crochet, but I've been on a crochet spree lately. I'm making tons of baby blankets for various donations. I've made maybe 12 in the past couple of months with two more in process.

things homeschooled kids say
in General Education Discussion Board
Posted
My 12 year old: "I hate it when people ask how I get socialized WHEN I'M SOCIALIZING."
And yes indeed, my 10 year old had to look at me so I could help her remember that she's going into 5th grade.
But hey, both of them made eye contact with the nice older gentleman in front of us at church. :D
Both of them wrote really clever journal entries about the "trials" of being homeschooled. They were pretty funny!
