  1. I agree with prior posters that chesskid.com is a fantastic resource for beginners. If you have an ipad, chessimo is a terrific app. If your state has a chess association (very likely), the website should provide information on clubs (usually always free) as well as local scholastic tournaments which is a great way to connect with other kids interested in chess.
  2. Could someone be so kind as to point me to one of the old threads which discussed schedules for using SOTW 1 and MOH 1 for the same year? I've tried searching but am not finding anything -- so frustrating as I know this has been mentioned before. Thanks in advance for any help!
  3. I also buy Singapore Standard edition from CBD. Oftentimes my orders are shipped by the next day. They have free shipping right now for orders over $35.
  4. Just noticed today that Costco is selling the set for $27.99.
  5. Didn't even know it was offered ... only aware of physics, chemistry and biology .... off to investigate ....
  6. My dc used to dread all things involving language arts - but no more! We did Island this year. I happily give credit to MCT for developing a love of language in my mathy dc. Yeah, we're continuing with this program notwithstanding the price.
  7. Paddington Bear James and the Giant Peach Winnie-the-Pooh Come On Seabiscuit
  8. Our Jim Weiss collection keeps growing each year and we love them all. It would be difficult to choose a favorite. I tend to use them based on the time period we are studying. He has a brochure that divides the recordings based on a timeline so it is easy to make a selection. Notwithstanding our love of his "stories", his recordings of books are terrific. Come On Seabiscuit and Carry on Mr. Bowditch are real gems. I plan to use his Henty recordings during logic stage.
  9. So sorry to hear you are not feeling well. I have really appreciated the alternative health tips you have shared. Praying that this gets resolved with a good outcome.
  10. Consider using a different approach: http://www.amazon.com/Cure-Tooth-Decay-Cavities-Nutrition/dp/1434810607/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1330007770&sr=8-1
  11. This code, 376105, is good for free shipping for orders over $100. It is good through February 29, 2012. As PP mentioned, you can always call to get a code for free shipping for orders over $100.
  12. I use both MOH and SOTW as we really love history in our family. We are covering year 4 now and have really missed the depth of MOH as it remains unavailable. We've spent more time on American history this year as we are working through SOTW volume 4. In past years, we followed MOH more closely. I used the SOTW activity guide sparingly and as more of a supplement to MOH. We use the audiobooks of SOTW read by Jim Weiss (fabulous!) and the SOTW test books. While the later volumes of MOH include less biblical history, they remain overtly Christian.
  13. Thank you! We are studying the Civil War this year but I had not seen this resource before. Great find and thanks for sharing!
  14. I use AAS and am interested in the idea of adding the MCP workbooks for reinforcement. In your experience, what levels of AAS match up well with MCP levels B and D you mentioned using?
  15. Thanks for posting this update. We are considering an ereader for a gift so this could be quite helpful.
  16. I received my shipment notification, finally!
  17. Could you provide a link to download the great scientist program? Thanks!
